The influence of teachers on student's attitudes towards school
Pínová, Ester ; Podaná, Zuzana (advisor) ; Spitzerová, Markéta (referee)
This paper examines the relationship between student autonomous motivation to study science and teaching methods. The aim of this thesis, is to investigate how students' motivation to study science is related to teaching methods, based on data from the PISA 2015 survey. To test the hypotheses was used hierarchical regression analysis. The relationship between autonomy-motivating teaching methods and students' autonomous motivation to study science was investigated in this bachelor thesis. To test the stated hypotheses, hierarchical regression models were used to examine the effect most of motivating instructional method on three dependent variables: students' popularity of science learning, students' interest in science, and students' participation rates in science activities. The results confirmed our hypotheses for almost all instructional methods. Although the effects were not very strong, autonomous- motivating instructional methods had a positive effect on all variables studied. Students who showed higher levels of use of these methods in instruction showed more enjoyment of science learning, more interest in science, and also participated more actively in science activities. Among the teaching methods, the strongest predictors were student perceived feedback, inquiry-based instruction, and...
Changes in the transition to inclusive education from the perspective of teachers in primary schools
Zrůstková, Jana ; Mazák, Jaromír (advisor) ; Spitzerová, Markéta (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Changes in the transition to inclusive education from the perspective of primary school teachers" aims to map the functioning of inclusive education from the perspective of teachers, focus on personal experiences of teachers and bring new knowledge in imperfections that complicate the application of inclusive education system in primary schools. The work is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part contains key concepts related to inclusive education, outlines some important aspects in the transition of mainstream primary schools. This part also describes the roles of individual actors of the inclusive school and their mutual connections. The empirical part deals with research methodology, analysis and interpretation of obtained data. In this part, the opinions of individual cantors are mapped and it aims to bring knowledge in the field of joint education of children in primary schools. The research was inspired by phenomenological research and therefore uses a semi-structured interview that seeks to understand the phenomenon of inclusion from the perspective of a primary school teacher. The influence of school on the evaluation of life satisfaction of young people
Spitzerová, Markéta ; Mazák, Jaromír (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
and keywords in English The diploma thesis deals with the relationship between pupils' overall life satisfaction and school climate. In this work school climate is represented by four aspects: pupils' sense of security, social relations at school, school success and career planning. Another question which has been analysed is whether the pupils' life satisfaction is affected by the type of school. The relationships were verified on the data from the PISA survey from 2018 using hierarchical linear models. A significant association between the type of school and the pupils' overall life satisfaction has been present only when there were no other variables in the model that would describe the school climate. Another important phenomenon is a relationship between pupils' overall life satisfaction and relationships at school (not only with classmates, but also with teachers). Model 2 shows that good relationships with classmates and teachers could also be a weak moderator of the relationship between the negative experience of bullying and pupils' life satisfaction. In the analysis a positive association between academic achievements and life satisfaction was identified only when the academic achievements were represented by marks, not by the average reading literacy score. In this work the conclusions...
Equal Educational Opportunities in Czech Media Discourse
Spitzerová, Markéta ; Vinopal, Jiří (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
The target of my thesis is to compare the way equal educational opportunities are depicted in media with subject matter experts' opinions, international surveys' results and public opinion on the possibility of achiving education corresponding to individual abilities. There is a discrepancy in their opinion. I analysed media discourse using both content analysis and contexts provided by media. The most frequently mentioned aspect in unequal acces to education is the social status influence on the achieved level of schooling. Despite that, even this aspect is mentioned in less than half of published contributions and it rarely deals with equal opportunitis in acces to universitary schooling. The media discuss unequal educational opportinities in relation to moral aspects, job market and quality of schools. Those who speak in favour of measures that foster equal educational opportunities as well as those who are not in accordance with them use these three contexts to defend their opinions although there is a different level of abstraction in their discourse. In the end, I arrive to the conclusion that public opinion is in a greater correspondence with media discourse which, according theory of agenda setting, makes it possible for the media to deform the reflection of equal educational opportunities....
