Dynamics of Aerosol Number Size Distributions during an Experimental Campaign at the Bily Kriz Measuring Site
Ždímal, Vladimír ; Moravec, Pavel ; Smolík, Jiří ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Večeřa, Zbyněk ; Pokorný, Radek
This work aimed at studying the dynamics of atmospheric aerosol particle size distributions and interpreting it in connection to local concentrations of gaseous pollutants and basic meteorological parameters. Number size distributions had been monitored with high time resolution during an intense experimental campaign at a remote continental sampling site Bily Kriz. The site is located at the NE tip of the Czech Republic in the hilly region. The campaign had ben carried out at the end of June 2001. Several very interesting events were observed when formation of large amounts of new aerosol particles occured in the day time. Due to the behaviour of other measured parameters it was concluded that the so called "nucleation events" took place on a mesoscale region.

The Urban Exposure Management Tool for Assessment of Exposure of Residents to Urban Air Pollution
Barták, M. ; Smolík, Jiří ; Dohányosová, Pavla
The Urban Exposure tool is a new software tool designed to enable governments and local authorities to model the exposure of residents to urban air pollution during all their daily activities, such as working, travelling or sleeping. The Urban Exposure tool is relevant for anyone with an interest in air quality and air quality management; environmental managers, planners, consultants and academics. Human exposure to particulate pollution is modelled in a variety of user specified environments and for a variety of activities. Scenarios are constructed using a simple to use Graphical User Interface, which allows the user to specify a range of parameters.
