Information education of students of combined forms of study at CULS

(in English): The aim of Master's thesis is an analysis of information education of students of combined study using example of Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The first part of the thesis deals with terminology and definition of the term combined study. In the next part characteristics of students of combined study in comparison with students of regular education are described with emphasis on their age, motivation, educational needs and obstacles encountered while studying at distance. The text also briefly defines information literacy according to Association of College & Research Libraries standards and information education of students of combined study. The end of theoretical part follows practical experiences with courses for students of combined study at university libraries abroad. Practical part briefly outlines the situation of combined students at CULS Prague, numbers of these students at faculties and offered study programmes. The activities of Information Literacy and Education Department in the area of information education are described The next part describes methodology of thesis including interview and SWOT analysis. Information base for foreign students selected the Czech university

(in English) The aim of bachelor thesis is an analysis of information base for foreign students at Czech University of Life Sciences. The theoretical part of the thesis describes situation of foreign students at universities, economical aspects of recruiting foreign students to higher education institutions and programs of mobility offered by Czech universities. Further the thesis deals with problematical definition of concept information need connected with information seeking behavior and types of information needs. Information needs of foreign students are identified by analyzing foreign user studies. In the end of the theoretical part services of universities and academic libraries for foreign students are characterized. The practical part is aimed to analyse information base for foreign students at Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. At the beginning of practical part Czech University of Life Sciences is briefly described with its history, offered programs of mobility and numbers of foreign students at university in recent years.
