Rašková, Veronika ; Andrš, Dušan (advisor) ; Lomová, Olga (referee)
Love and its various forms is the theme of many short stories and novellas by an important Chinese writer Shen Congwen written in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. Their plots are set in the remote regions of West Hunan which becomes an idealized fictional world where love accounts for the most important bond between young people. This paper brings forward an analysis of a sample of prose works that represent this thematic area of Shen Congwen's writing, singles out three different depictions of love that are present in the examined works and summarizes their common thematic and motivic characteristics.
