Social Support in Old Age
Růžičková, Kateřina ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (advisor) ; Šonská Steklíková, Eliška (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of social support in old age and its specifics from the societal and individual perspective. The theoretical part is focused on contemporary social phenomena that are involved in shaping the final form of social support among the elderly. With regard to changest in the social support of the elderly, characteristics of different sources of social support and their different functions are listed. Attention is paid to the characteristics of effective and ineffective social support, its risks and its potential negative concequences, and the factor of personality in the social support. The proposal of a research project aims to explore the effect of volunteer aktivity in terms of anticipated social support of the elderly in residential facilities in the Czech republic. Key words: social support, elderly, old age
Characterization of phosphatases in tobacco plants (Nicotiana tabacum L.)
Růžičková, Kateřina ; Ryšlavá, Helena (advisor) ; Tichá, Marie (referee)
Phosphateses (EC 3.1.3.x) are a group of enzymes that hydrolyze phosphoesters. That way they affect the energetic metabolism of a cell and its regulation. Phosphatases that dephosphorylate proteins are an integral part of signaling pathways, stress responses and they modulate enzymatic activity. This thesis deals with the study of phosphatases obtained from tobacco leaves (Nicotiana tabacum, L.). Solution of enzymes was prepared by extraction in both acidic and alkaline buffers. Through the use of the chromogenic substrate pNP-phosphate it was determined that there is a higher phosphatase activity in the glycosylated fraction than in the fraction that did not bind to Con A Sepharose. The research of the ions effect on the phosphatase activity has determined that Mg2+ and Ca2+ show positive effect on the phosphatase activity while the effect of Co2+ and Mn2+ is inhibitory. The Zn2+ ions have shown no effect whatsoever. The glycosylated phosphatases also dephosphorylated low-weight-molecular substrates phosphoserine, ATP and glucose-6-phosphate. The research of protein phosphatase activity discovered the affinity to the substrate phosvitin, although neither to casein nor its tryptic cleaves. Detailed experiments have shown that the pH optima for all the substrates lie from pH 5 to 6. Glycosylated phosphatases...
World language French a its current importance in the European Union
Růžičková, Kateřina ; Kalfiřtová, Eva (advisor) ; Müllerová, Eva (referee)
The thesis represents the position of French language on international scene, its role in the formation of patriotism of French nation and its development within the European Union. This thesis is concerned with the reasons which raised French language to an international and diplomatic language and which led to the weakening of its influence in the world. The thesis analyzes the language policy of France and institutions supporting the francophonie which care for protection and maintenance of French in the European and worldwide bases. Not least, there is outlined the importance of French language in the process of European integration and its current mission in the institutions of European Union.
Interspecific interactions in wetland communities in dependence on water regime: long-term test of stress-gradient hypothesis
Růžičková, Kateřina ; Douda, Jan (advisor) ; Alena, Alena (referee)
The Stress-gradient hypothesis predicates a change of interspecies relations from negative to positive according to the stress gradient. The basic assumption is that the presence of one species (the facilitator) makes the growth of other species easier. In this study was determined based on the 5years experiment, whether the interspecies interactions (i.e. the importance of facilitation and competition) changes according to the hydrological conditions. Three wetland species (Calamagrostis canescens, Carex elongata and Deschampsia cespitosa) were planted in experimental pots with the presence and absence of the dominant species (Carex elata). The hydrological gradient (= the stress gradient) was simulated by three types of hydrological conditions: dry, fluctuating and wet. The success of the species within the specific conditions was correlated with the fitness-related characteristics of the plants including the biomass, the number of ramets and the height of the plants. Following hypotheses were tested: i) at a low intensity of stress (with the wet treatment), the C. elata represents a competitor for other species. On the other hand, at a high intensity of stress (with the dry treatment), the C. elata represents a facilitator, making it easier to the other coexisting species to grow. This presumption was confirmed only with the D. cespitosa, which was more successful under dry treatment with the presence of a dominant species, which facilitated it. With the other two species the change of interspecific relations was not observed and the relationships remained negative. Furthermore the results showed, that in the dry treatment with the presence of a dominant species, there was a lower intensity of competition among the coexisting species. The experiment showed, that the interactions of particular species with dominant species can vary according to the stress gradient. The hydrological gradient also influences the character and intensity of interactions among the species.
Evaluation of the Business Financial Situation and its Securing by the Information System
Růžičková, Kateřina ; Heger, Martin (referee) ; Žižlavský, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis is focused on financial situation assessment of the company SLB, spol. s r.o. in the years 2006-2010. Evaluation of a financial situation proceeds from results of selected methods of the financial situation obtained from various algorithms created in Visual Basic environment. On the basis of found facts there are presented proposals, which should result in remove or elimination of found problems and the improvement of financial situation of the firm in the future years.

Implantation of bone marrow stromal cells labeled with superparamagnetic nanoparticles into injured brain and imaging their fate by magnetic resonance
Jendelová, Pavla ; Herynek, V. ; Růžičková, Kateřina ; Hájek, M. ; Syková, Eva
Our study demonstrates that MSCs only migrate into an injured brain region. The commercially available contrast agent Endorem can be used as a cell marker for noninvasive MR tracking of implanted stem cells.
