Černá, Lucie ; Kladný, Tomáš (advisor) ; Putna, Martin (referee)
1 Abstract In my diploma thesis I deal with the concept of the Jára Cimrman Theater. Using description and explanation, I examine the influence of mystification, fictional worlds, intertextuality, and special effects of the theater comicality up on its success and unwavering popularity among the audience. For this purpose, I work with audiovisual recordings and the book release of all theater plays by the Jára Cimrman Theater. In terms of theoretical research, I use bibliographic resources, among which are texts, articles, studies and publications by Lubomír Doležel, Umberto Eco and other authors whose works are relevant to the topic of my diploma thesis. In the diploma thesis I present an interpretation of theoretical knowledge, opinions, comments and reflections related to the chosen topic. The topic is a subject of broad professional discourse and is theoretically so complex that this diploma thesis cannot contain all the issues and contexts that apply to it. In this regard, I have tried to outline at least some of them and on their basis to elaborate the theme of this diploma thesis.

The thesis focuses on the reception history of Bernard Bolzano (1781- 1848) in the Czech intellectual culture of the 1945-1989 period. The aim of the thesis is not only to summarize existing studies of Bolzano's life and work or to study some of the partial themes related to Bolzano - but to discover basic features of Bolzano reception that can be found accross the different fields of Bolzano research and that are also connected to intellectual and political history background. The expected merit of the thesis can be considered from two different perspectives: In the context of intellectual history the reception of Bolzano is just a very partial theme, however it can expose some of more general features concerning Czech intellectual history of investigated period. From this point of view Bolzano is just a criterion of historical sources selection that enables to study very complex issue of the Czech intellectual history. "'Tis Alright to write about Slovakia like this as Well..." Jakub Deml's Image of the Slovakia in cultural-historical context
Blažejovský, Josef ; Putna, Martin (advisor) ; Pátková, Jana (referee)
The topic of this thesis (as its subtitle says) deals with the cultural and historical context of Jakub Deml's Image of Slovakia. In the first part, the author attempts to find his "own way" to Jakub Deml. In the second part, "Šlépěje" from the "Czechoslovakian era" are interpreted, i.e. IV.- VIII. These fall into the time period after the establishment of the Czechoslovakian Republic, Deml's meeting with Pavla Kytlicová, and his eventual settlement in his native city of Tasov (1919- 21). The third part offers a brief sketch of the cultural and historical context of the Czech-Slovak relationship, later also perceived from the Central European perspective. The fourth part initially uses two different examples to introduce the Image of Slovakia in Czech literature (Němcová, Kálal), and afterwards it turns to the literary analysis of Jakub Deml's Image of Slovakia. In the concluding chapter, this piece is set into the cultural and historical context and compared to other authors.
Franciscan and "Savages": Constructing image of "Indian" in História do Brasil of Vicente do Salvador
Kalenda, František ; Putna, Martin (advisor) ; Křížová, Markéta (referee)
Vicente do Salvador's well-known chronicle História do Brasil has often been studied as a source for Portuguese struggle to maintain the possession of Brazil in the 16th and early 17th century. This thesis, however, uses the chronicle to describe and analyze means of construction of the "Indians", indigenous stereotypes and therefore particular Portuguese identity as understood by a Franciscan author. In its core lies question of the designed and imagined contrasts between the white, Portuguese religious friar and a dark-skinned, pagan and barbarous heathen as formulated in the terms of a concrete 17th century perspective but provided with comparative context. Understood in the terms of historical anthropology research, História do Brasil needs to be recognized as a principal Franciscan source that could potentially counter overall dependence on the Jesuit literature to study colonial Brazil. Keywords Brazil. Colonialism. Franciscans. Identity. Otherness.
