Determination of Snow Cover Area from RADAR imagery
Součková, Jana ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Brodský, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis deals with snow cover mapping by using time-series of SAR images of the sensors ENVISAT ASAR and TerraSAR-X. The methodology is based on the so-called Nagler's algorithm, which is based on determination of the change of absorption of radar signal due to the liquid water content in the snow cover. The resulting ratio image is classified into the areas with wet snow or without it according to the selected threshold value. The results are compared with the maps of snow cover derived from MODIS optical data and with data from meteorological stations of CHMI. The main aims of this work are to suggest most suitable conditions (time of the year, weather) for acquisition of reference images, to find the change of the threshold value with respect the chosen reference image and the type of land cover. The same methodology should then be applied on the radar data of shorter wavelength. The obtained results will be further used for improving the methodology of snow cover mapping from SAR data in the Czech Republic.
Determination of Chlorophyll Content in Birch and Pine Trees Using Hyperspectral Data
Zachová, Kateřina ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Brodský, Lukáš (referee)
The master thesis deals with the determination of the chlorophyll content in birch foliage (Betula pendula Roth) and Scots pine using hyperspectral data. The first part of the thesis concentrates on the literature search dealing with the methods of chlorophyll content in the foliage of selected plant species. In the practical part the emphasis is on the study of spectral reflectance curves and finding their relation to the chlorophyll content from the laboratory determination. Images taken with the hyperspectral sensor HyMap and spectral reflectance curves obtained with the ground ASD FieldSpec 3 spectrometer were available. Using the derived regression model chlorophyll maps were created for Scots pine for three selected locations in the Sokolov coal basin area.

Mapping of landslide by method of differential interferometry Abstract Thesis deals with monitoring shifts of Earth's surface by method of differential interferometry specifically differential interferometry with using external DEM. This method uses radar images and DEM to assess movements of Earth's surface either in short or long term. It is quite a young discipline of science which is continually develop and has application in wide variety of fields connected with motion of Earth's surface, for example landslides or earthquakes. Aim of this work is mapping of landslides by means of differential interferograms created in two different software packages, their comparison and evaluation of effect of used parameters. Keywords: Differential interferometry, mapping of landslides
Tick-borne encephalitis risk assessment based on classification of vegetation from remote sensing data
Červená, Lucie ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Pavelka, Karel (referee)
Tick-borne encephalitis risk assessment based on classification of vegetation from remote sensing data Abstract The main aim of this thesis has been to find out how to classify various categories of forest vegetation with a different risk of exposure to the tick-borne encephalitis based on the Landsat imagery. The legend used here is derived from the one used in the projects by Daniel, Kolář, Zeman (1995) and Daniel, Kolář, Beneš (1999) but has been reduced to only five classses with no overlaps in their definitions (I. coniferous stands, II. mixed stands, III. young deciduous stands and stand ecotones with a highly heterogeneous structure, IV. deciduous stands with a homogeneous structure, V. deciduous stands with a heterogeneous structure). The supervised classification with the Maximum Likelihood Classifier has been used on the Landsat imagery from various seasons. Difficulties concerned with the presence of clouds and varying Sun elevation across the imagery had to be adressed in the course of the work. The training sites and the control points have been defined by the field research and interpretation of the relevant orthophotomaps and Landsat imagery in 5-4-3 RGB composite. The mask of the forest has been created on the ZABAGED data basis. The time horizon of 2006 - 2010 has been the primary focus....
Evaluation of suburbanization in Prague's hinterland - influence on landuse and on territory function.
Bromová, Petra ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
Evaluation of suburbanization in Prague's hinterland - influence on landuse and on territory function The main goals of this thesis are to describe land use changes in three time periods in cadastral units Dobřejovice, Modletice and Jažlovice situated in Prague's hinterland, to evaluate their influence on the territory function and to create a database of commercial objects in this area. There is a theme introduction in the first part. Furthermore, the thesis describes methods used for the data processing. The main part of the thesis is focused on the characteristic of the area of interest and describes the detected land use and territory function changes based on spatial overlays of time series of very high- resolution image data. The outputs of this work are maps of land use in 1994, 2004 a 2007, maps of land use changes in the particular time periods and the database of the commercial objects with their utilization purpose.
Determination of snow covering using remote sensing data
Zelenková, Kateřina ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Štefanová, Eva (referee)
Monitoring of snow cover extent is an often disscused topic during last ten years, mainly because of the global change of the Earth climate. This work focuses on snow cover mapping using remote sensing data and methods. First the potencial data and methods for determination of snow cover extent are analysed. The problem of snow and cloud distinguishing is also disscused. Based on the example of using data from senzor MERIS and AATSR (Envisat) is illustrated how this data can be used for operational snow mapping purposes in the Czech republic. The decision-tree-algoritm for the detection of snow and clouds was developed. The acuracy of clasificated images is evaluated using comparison with in-situ grand measurament data. Land cover classification from hyperspectral images in recultivated areas of the Sokolov lignite basin
Málková, Hana ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Kupková, Lucie (referee)
Land cover classification from hyperspectral images in recultivated area of the Sokolov lignite basin Abstract The aim of the dissertation is to establish a methodology for vegetation classification from hyperspectral data of the HyMap sensor. The final output is a supporting map for the investigation of mining impacts on vegetation health in the vicinity of surface quarries at the Sokolov lignite basin. Five different classification algorithms were applied on the data and the best result was put more precisely in the second classification round. Given the pixel size and desired result details, subpixel classification options were tested and the question of what level of classification details could be achieved with given data was answered. The results are part of the project "Assessment of Mining Related Impacts Based on Utilization of Airborne Hyperspectral Sensor ARES". Keywords: hyperspectral image data HyMap, land cover mapping, the classification alghoritm, subpixel analysis, Sokolov lignite basin
Heterogeneity in forest vegetation monitoring with remote sensing
Kolešová, Petra ; Kolář, Jan (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
Heterogeneity in forest vegetation monitoring with remote sensing Abtract The main aim of this diploma thesis is to examine the suitability of various classification approaches for forest vegetation categorization using Landsat 8 satellite imagery. Two satellite images acquired during vegetative period (8th March, 27th July 2013) were chosen. The overall goal of the study is to explore the potential of using statistical methods to obtain information about forest heterogeneity in a given territory. Chosen study sites are defined by administrative boundaries of selected municipalities from South and Central Bohemia located within following municipalities with extended powers - Blatná, Milevsko, Písek, Příbram and Sedlčany. Supervised and unsupervised classifications were used based on obtained training areas and orthophoto. The definition of chosen classes (coniferous forests, mixed forests, ecotones, structurally homogeneous deciduous forests and structurally heterogeneous deciduous forests) was identical with the categories used in "Project MT 11425-5/2010 The Mapping of Natural Zoonoses Focal Points, Transferable on Humans in the Czech Republic and Their Changes Affected by the Modification of Climate". Due to large amount of training datasets obtained from field survey, ortophoto and spectral analysis,...
