Contemporary Trends in Early Childhood Education and Care in England

This paper examines current trends and developments in the early childhood care and education system in England. The aim of the thesis is to provide a comprehensive understanding of English early childhood education. The thesis focuses on the current anchoring of early childhood care and education in the English education system. It provides an analysis and deeper insight into the circumstances of the emergence, progress and direction of current reforms and trends. The thesis is framed by a qualitative research paradigm while the research design is a single country case study using content analysis of documents, semi-structured expert interviews and participant observation. The thesis captures the historical background to English early childhood education and its influence on the creation of the current situation. It has focused on analysis of external (European) and internal influences on educational policy in England and their reflection in curriculum development documents. The thesis also thematises the developments in workforce policy and their impact on the contemporary situation of early years professionals. Initial Education Of Early Years Teachers And The Profession's Needs

The thesis deals with undergraduate training of kindergarten teachers. The aim is to compare the issue of preparation for the profession of kindergarten teacher from different perspectives in historical and international comparisons and reflect and analyze the needs of the profession towards initial training kindergarten teachers on the basis of theoretical concepts and statements from practice. The reaserch aims to analyze the curriculum of initial training kindergarten teachers at selected faculties of education in the Czech Republic, analyze and reflect on meeting the needs of the profession in these faculties and learn how to evaluate their students' level of development of their professional competence at the beginning of undergraduate training and at the end. Research design is a multi-case study. Working with reaserch respondents has a longitudinal character. Methods were used quantitative and qualitative methodology - questionnaire, rating scales, content analysis of documents, interview and focus group. Transforming the Concept and Perspective of the Czech Kindergarten

The aim of the thesis was to systematically record and analyse the transformation of the Czech kindergarten after 1989. To understand the transformation of the kindergarten based on the testimonies of kindergarten teachers with a long touch of practice and to create a coherent continuity of ideas that allow to understand the transformation of Czech pre- school education. The thesis is divided into theoretical and research parts. The theoretical part describes the changes that the education and care of the little ones has undergone over the century. In the introductory chapter, the author briefly discusses the beginnings of preschool education. Knowing that this period is too far removed from the present and from education as a whole, but the central roots and historical transformations of preschool education are so central to the thesis that the author briefly mentions them. After the events of November 1989, Czech preschool was also undergoing transformational changes.
