The tone scale as the basic technical ability of pianist

The thesis called "Scales as a Basis of Technical Skills of a Pianist" deals with the problem of scales and scale complex playing at all levels of piano playing education. It introduces some inspiring rules of piano pedagogy and their usage in a systematic practice of scales. The work is divided into eight chapters, each of them is devoted to certain technical exercises connected to both diatonic and chromatic scales. A great attention is paid to chords, melodic chords and playing of scales in duets. Each chapter contains practical examples and fingering systems. According to its scale of interest, the thesis is aimed at teachers and students of secondary schools and universities.

Bohuslav Martinů - Pastorales, Six Pieces for Cello and Piano H. 190: Interpretative and methodical analysis

The thesis Six Pastorelas by Bohuslav Martinů for Cello and Piano H. 190: Interpretative and Methodological Analysis deals primarily with the composition of pastorelas from the perspective of the performer and the teacher. It includes a biography of the composer, a chapter on the historical circumstances of the work's composition, and its placement in the context of cello literature. The next section provides an analysis of the work. The focus of the work can be considered to be the chapters on performance and the actual methodology for practicing this work with students at the elementary school of music. The final section is devoted to recordings of the composition and comparisons between three different performers.
Klement Slavický and his piano music for children

This diploma thesis deals with instructive solo piano pieces by Klement Slavický. In the first chapter, a brief biography of the composer is presented. The second chapter is concerned with his piano cycles for children which includes the following cycles: On the Whites and Blacks, Piano and Youth, 12 Small Studies, At Home with the Piano, and Amoroso. The third chapter contains pedagogical and interpretative approach to the selected pieces from the aforementioned cycles. In this chapter, chosen practise procedure of the selected pieces, ways of dealing with the performance and technical issues as well as insights of the individual pupils are also presented. The fourth chapter contains the results of my questionnaire survey, the purpose of which was to find out the frequency of teachers' incorporation of Slavický's pieces into the pupils' repertoire, the compositions performed the most frequently, the ways pupils cope with his music as well as the teachers' own view of Slavický's personality and his music. The third and the fourth chapter also include some generally applicable didactic principles as well as author's personal observations that she considered important to mention. BOHUSLAV MARTINŮ: EUTDES AND POLKAS

The thesis deals with the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů and his petite compositions published in the Etudes and polkas compilation (1945). The work aims to: I. introduce Bohuslav Martinů as a significant composer of the Czech music scene, II. zoom at the etude and polka structure and music organisation through the historical development and essential characteristics, which will be conducive to a better understanding of etudes and polkas of the 20th century, III. prepare sufficient and user-friendly material for piano teachers to facilitate orientation within all the sixteen pieces, IV. offer a straightforward summary of various technical and other elements that might be met in music schools, V. tackle different ways of interpretation as well as the author's own experience regarding studying some of the pieces from the Etudas and polkas compilation. The bachelor's thesis predominantly offers historical and didactic correlative aspects. The viewpoint of the musical form and analysis is also incorporated; however, in seemingly minority compared to the first two areas mentioned. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau and their Use during Piano Lessons

This thesis deals with the life and work of Johann Kuhnau and focuses mainly on the following categories: 1. The life and work of Johann Kuhnau 2. The work for keyboard musical instruments 3. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau 4. The use of his sonatas during piano lessons This thesis deals with a biography of Johann Kuhnau and presents his works for keyboard instruments. This is followed by a short chapter about a sonata form, its definition and progression. The third chapter is focuses on the sonatas by Johann Kuhnau, especially on his fourth collection named Biblical Sonatas which are presented here in the context of stories from the Old Testament. The final chapter focuses on the didactic and interpretive knowledge of Kuhnau's sonatas from his third and fourth collections for keyboard instruments. The aim of the work is to introduce Johann Kuhnau to reader, to point out his contribution in the field of music and to present the possibilities of working with his collections for keyboard instruments in teaching the piano at today's art schools. Johannes Brahms and his piano cycle composed between 1892-1893 (op. 116, 17, 118, 119)

This bachelor thesis is about the composer Johannes Brahms and his piano cycle compositions between 1892-1893. The scope of the thesis is entirely informational and educational, through a thorough analysis of every individual piano piece from the opus 116, 117, 118, 119. It specifically deals with the analysis of the requirements for their practice with attached short sheet music instructions. The beginning of the work is devoted to a brief biography and personality characteristics of Johannes Brahms and his abilities as a piano teacher. It also mentions his closest companions and his contemporary fellow musicians. The next section talks about the history of all the pieces including a harmonical and melodic analysis of each piece. Ultimately, the aim of this analysis is to provide some guidance for anyone that is interested to have more knowlege on the pieces, theoritically and practically speaking. At the end of this work you will find a brief conclusion on the ways and methods of learning how to study the compositions.
