Social perception of Game Management with emphasis on social group dealing with ornithology
Menclová, Barbora ; Obleser, Petr (advisor) ; Adámková, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on evaluation of the stand of ornithological comunity on game management under the terms of problematical relationships between these two groups. Its goal is to chart the concrete fields of arguments within the legislation, as well as game management´s beneficial effects and moral aspects. Another pursuit is also to sketch the realization of possible cooperation. Using questionnaire, which was sent to members of Czech Society for Ornithology and its regional subdivisions, the respondents answered 20 questions and these results were statistically evaluated. The results show, that game management itself is perceived slightly differently compared with perception of individual hunters. The game management is evaluated more as salutary, whereas the hunters evoke rather negative feelings among respondents. It can be caused by subjective experiences, which influence the way the respondents see the whole game management society. Legislation seems to be the often repeated problem, to be concrete its breaking for example by illegal hunting or insufficient demands for to get a hunting and a gun licence. Ornithologists would also welcome changes regarding the list of the game animals. Problem is also the insufficient knowledge of hunters in the field of ornithology and ekology, which could be solved by tightening the conditions for the hunting and the gun licence. From the proposals, which were laid in the questionnairy and which are dealing with improving of the mutual relations, the respondents voted mainly discussion - collective, regular, at the expert level, where could be possible to solve actual issues relating game management, as well as ornithology.
Activity of the badger (Meles meles) in a viccinity of its burrow
Jeřábek, František ; Kušta, Tomáš (advisor) ; Obleser, Petr (referee)
This master is theses describes the activity of the European badger (Meles meles) in the cadastral territory of Horní Studenec. The activity was monitored in relation to weather, time of sunrise and sunset and the moon phase in different seasons of a year. This thesis consists of two parts, practical and theoretical. The theoretical part is based on a literary research. The practical part analyzes data acquired by the author through a camera trap monitoring and personal observation at a particular badger warren. The outcome of this thesis is the finding that the following factors have influence on badger is behavior: lunar moon phase, daily minimum temperature and changes in external environment caused by human intervention.
Escape behavior of roe deer
Waignerová, Pavla ; Obleser, Petr (advisor) ; Adámková, Jana (referee)
The work deals with the way of life of our most common game, especially roe deer and escape behaviour and strategies of escape. The observation was focused on the perception of the Earth's magnetic field roe deer. Which in this work due to lack of data did not. Other observations dealt with the response to an incoming man in connection with the perception of colour and intensity of light. Breakout and the reaction distance proved to be dependent on the colour of clothing and on the intensity of the illumination, the reaction and the escape came earlier, when an observer was dressed in a red dress, than when he was in the green. And at a higher intensity of daylight responded beasts before when light intensity was lower. The results of the experimental part of the work did not confirm the hypothesis of similar scientific works dealing with the magnetoreception and the visual perception of the roe deer.
Effect of hunting pressure on red deer activity
Rohla, Jan ; Ježek, Miloš (advisor) ; Obleser, Petr (referee)
In this work, I dealt with the impact of hunting pressure on the activity of red deers (Cervus elaphus) in Doupov mountains. The main goal was to find out, whether intensive killing will change the activity of deers, and also hinds. Evaluated data should be useful for easier reduction of these animals not only in Doupov Mountains. Numbers of deers have been very high in the last few years and it would be necessary to achieve effective reductions, which would reduce the population to a tolerable limit. That should contribute to decreasing animal causes in forests and agriculture crops. Decreasing the numbers of deers should also lead to improving the quality of this spiecies not only in terms of trophies, but also the overall physical condition. It turned out that the activity decreased significantly during hunting. The reduction of activity began basically with the sunrise and ended in the sunset. For most individuals the activity increased in the night hours. In both July and August it turned out that there is a significant difference in activity among both day and sunset as well as day and night, while the lowest amount of activity was in the daytime, and in the sunset it has increased significantly. The highest activity was basically at dusk. From these results we can say that when comparing the two periods, the significant activity is mainly in the evening and night hours.
Social perception of game management from the point of view of hunters themselves
Fojtíková, Aneta ; Obleser, Petr (advisor) ; Husinec, Václav (referee)
This bachelor thesis addresses the current issues concerning the relationship between hunters and the public. The survey is carried out through a questionnaire filled by people working in game management. The questionn fell into the hands of three hundred hunters, who come from all corners of the Czech Republic . Respondents were also of different ages and education The purpose of the thesis is to find weaknesses in communication between hunters themselves as well as between hunters and general public and the media. It aims to also find out why hunters are negatively perceived by the public, whether they are able to realize what is the cause and propose measures to improve the image of Czech game management.
Recognition of warning signal jay (Garrulus glandarius) in roe deer (Capreolus capreolus)
Pacáková, Alena ; Obleser, Petr (advisor) ; Husinec, Václav (referee)
This elaboration focus on bioacoustics interactions between a deer/roubucke(Capreolus capreolus) living in our territory, which is highly hunted and a jay bird (Garrulus glandarius), which has abilities according to ingrained experiences and traditional folk superstitions hetero-specifically to warn against predators. On territory of the Czech republic is a deer/roubucke one of the most widespread artiodactyl and a jay bird is one the most common birds. The acoustic communication between those two species plays a big role, but her research was paid only slight attention. This elaboration focus on recognition is abilities of deer on warning signals received from jay bird. There was 39 records received, how roe deer reacts on jas is bird signals. All recording took place in area of Radotin in Prague. By using the sound system, there were playing control signals of magpie bird follow up with warning signals of jay bird. There were evaluated aspects like sex, bonnet, distance, size of the bunch and of curse their influences on timing of hunting season. The outcomes helped us to closely understand of life of roe deer and their behavior when they recognize warning signals. The analysis provided us information that roe deer respond the same way to warning signals from jay birds as well as control signals from magpie birds. Based on further outcomes of the elaboration, it is important to mention unsubstantiated correlations of received signals between sex and age of roe deer. We assume that behavioral symptoms to warning signals are closely related to experiences of given individual roe deer.
