The historical and archaeological importance of travel accounts made by Russian pilgrims to the Near East from the 12th to 19th centuries.

This work deals with a theme, which is increasingly becoming popular amongst scholars. It is a theme dealing with Russian pilgrims and travellers, who visited the areas of the Middle East, especially those places, such as Constantinople, the Holy Land, Mt. Athos and others. Under the designation Russian pilgrims we do not mean individuals belonging to a specific ethnic group, but individuals who were related to Russia understood as a political formation and state. The contacts between the south and Russia, have important consequences for the development of Russia itself, its culture, identity and history. This is also the case for the Middle East, where the contacts with Russia determined to a large extent the development and character of this area. The Russian contacts with the south should be primarily viewed in terms of the Byzantine-Russian context. These were based on cultural influences and on a shared faith and identity. The cultural and religious contacts were enabled by travelling individuals, who travelled without and with a specific goal. In the context of these journeys the prime motivation was a religious one, when a pilgrimage to such areas as Constantinople, Mt. Life of Russian Grammar Schools in interwar Czechoslovakia

This Bachelor thesis explores the phenomenon of Russian grammar schools in interwar Czechoslovakia, especially Russian Reformed Real Grammar School in Prague and Russian Reformed Real Grammar School in Moravská Třebová. It briefly discusses the creation of Russian Aid Action and school system,which was created for russian emigration. After that the Bachelor thesis describes the circumstances of the formation and closure of russian grammar schools, their normal course, the content of their teaching plan and extracurricular activities of the students.

General manager at Škoda works in Pilsen Vilém Hromádko and his business relations with Soviet Union

The thesis is focused on Vilem Hromadko, an engineer who had a signifiant influence on industrial production in former Czechoslovakia, but also in Poland and USSR. During his life, Vilem Hromadko met J. V. Stalin in person, he was imprisoned several times and joined the antifascist resistence. The main focus of the thesis is on his activities associated with an improvement of arms production in USSR between 1937 and 1941. Hromadko`s business co- operation with USSR and general contribution to the global industry were analyzed based on archive information and historical documents. Activities of Vilem Hromadko are proven by photographic attachments enclosed to the thesis. «Little Man» Characters in the Work of Nikolai Gogol and Andrei Platonov

and key words This bachelor thesis is an attempt at a detailed analysis of the term «little man». The first chapter includes coherent reviewing of different aspects of general formulation of the term. The second chapter is dedicated to the characters of so-called Petersburg Tales by Nikolai Gogol, as they are the most representative examples of the «little man» type. The third chapter examines the characters of Andrei Platonov's work, compares them with Nikolai Gogol's characters and takes a stand against interpreting Platonov's characters as «little men». The analysis is primarily based on secondary sources, because the term «little man» itself is an abstraction, used mainly in literary criticism, thus, implementation of an analysis using primary literature only seems to be impossible. Man, State and Law in Pavel Novgorodtsev's Thought

The thesis is concerned with theoretical work of the Russian legal philosopher P. I. Novgorodtsev, focusing on the concepts of natural law, social ideal, individualism, liberalism, rule of law and democracy. Novgorodtsev's interpretation of these concepts is embedded into broader contexts of both Russian and Western political philosophy and philosophy of law. Novgorodtsev's work is analysed with regards to Russian liberal doctrine transformations from classical liberalism towards liberal socialism. The thesis discloses progressive moments in the author's thought demonstrating ways as to develop them. Problems in question are inquired into through the prism of A. Honneth's critical theory of society which enables to approach the subject matter in its historical variability and conditionality and, at the same time, maintaining normativity. The aim of the thesis is not only to assess Novgorodtsev's work topicality and contribution but also critically research into relevant problems in terms of the chosen topic, primarily metaphysical roots of liberalism and its limits as to the notion of man, state and law. Siginificance of literary salons in Russia during the rule of Alexander I.

The master's thesis is devoted to the theme of the literary salon in Russia during the rule of Alexander I and its role and significance for Russian society in general and for literature in particular. In the thesis is described the main reasons of formation of this phenomenon in Russia and also is made analysis of its history from formation to loss of significance, where special attention is paid to the literary salon of the rule of Alexander I. To reveal the specifics of the literary salon were analysed the difference between the salons and societies and other forms of organization of literary life, difference between the salons owned by ladies or gentlemen and also difference between the St. Petersburg and Moscow literary salons. Dream in the Work of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky

This bachelor thesis deals with the motive of dream in the works of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (1821-1881). The thesis focuses on the relation between dream and reality in the writer's literary fiction. After briefly summarising the approaches of the researchers who have studied the motive in Dostoyevsky's work, the author looks into the way the writer integrates the motive of dream into his literary fiction. Various types of confrontation of dream and reality in Dostoyevsky's prosaic texts are presented and the functions which dreams as a literary device fulfil are introduced. The closing chapter of the thesis regards the motive of dream as part of the artistic- philosophical intent of the writer and proposes a possible interpretation of its role in the achieving this intention.

Comparison of Russian and Czech perception of Korolenko's prose The Blind Musician

This thesis focuses on the elaboration and subsequent comparison of the Russian and Czech reception of the prose The Blind Musician by Russian writer Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko. The first chapters contain a brief treatise on the life and work of the author and a brief outline of the content of The Blind Musician. However, the main focus is the elaboration and description of the reception of the selected work, both in the periodic and later criticisms. Firstly, a Russian reception is being elaborated, in which we can see the views and criticisms concerning the main psychological motive of the etudes, the social aspects of the work, and the sounds and the music. This is followed by the processing of the Czech reception, which was heavily influenced by various translation methods and is mainly focused on the artwork of the work itself. Reflection of the Czechoslovak-Soviet Friendship Ideology on the Example of Prague Underground

This bachelor thesis introduces a reflection of period ideology and influence of the Soviet Union on Prague underground. Special chapter will be devoted to the influence of communistic and Soviet ideology on underground stations names in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev and other Soviet cities. The paper goes on to a brief overview of the prehistory and history of the Prague underground and focuses on ideological moments during its construction. The thesis also analyses the background of the ideology oriented names of individual stations and expounds in detail the circumstances of building the Moskevská station.

Sergei Gessen's Philosophy of Pedagogy

The paper focuses on the personality of Sergei Iosifovich Gessen, Russian philosopher and emigrant, who lived and worked in Czechoslovakia during the inter-war period. The main aim is to present Gessen's philosophy of pedagogy, mostly by means of his works, that were written and published during his stay in our country. This includes his articles for journal Russian school abroad, of which he was also an editor, his shorter studies but most importantly his monography Philosophical principles of pedagogy, which was partly rewritten by the author for the purpose of its Czech edition. Based on his works, we will try to formulate the topics and the principles, which Gessen emphasizes in his texts and which should be valid in his ideal pedagogical system. We will also consider, if the pedagogical topics he was analyzing are still up to date in contemporary circumstances.
