Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Thuy Linh Nguyen Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Lenka Skálová, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: The effect of humulene, caryophyllene and caryophyllene oxide on the activity of selected liver biotransformation enzymes Sesquiterpenes, secondary metabolites of higher plants, are formed from three isoprenoid units. They possess interesting biological activities, e.g. antibacterial, antimalarial or anticarcinogenic activities, however they could also influence the activity and/or the expression of biotransformation enzymes. The aim of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the effect of α-humulene (HUM), β-caryophyllene (CAR) and β-caryophyllene oxide (CAO) on the activity and expression of enzymes of phase I and II of xenobiotics biotransformation. In the first study, the potential inhibitory effect of HUM, CAO and CAR on the activity of selected enzymes in subcellular fractions obtained from rat liver homogenates was studied. In the second study, HUM, CAO and CAR were incubated with primary cultures of rat hepatocytes for 24 hours to determine the impact of sesquiterpenes on the viability of hepatocytes and potential modulatory effects of HUM, CAO, CAR on the activity and expression of selected...

Presidency as a representative of the EU in crisis situations

This bachelor thesis "Presidency as a representative of the EU in Crisis situations" focus on the role of presidency as representative of Common Foreign policy in European Union. Thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part describe the main theories of presidency. Second part of work focuses on the French presidency and its role in the Russia - Georgian conflict and the Czech presidency and its role in the conflict in the Gaza. The principal part compare Czech presidency and French presidency and their behavior in these conflicts. The main purpose of comparisons is evaluating common foreign policy under two different members of EU.

The diploma thesis is focused on the creation of a business plan. The aim is to prepare a business plan for the establishment of a beauty salon. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part contains theoretical data, the definition of basic concepts relating to business planning and analyses are formulated. The practical part contains a systematic application of individual parts of a project based on the theoretical part of the work. An essential part of this work is a financial analysis. The conclusion summaries and evaluates the thesis and will answer the question of viability, feasibility and operability of the project

Using statistic methods together with historical data estimates future trends. Consequently, there are solutions that could lead to the company's financial stability and sustainable management.

The use of nutritional problem in practice - infant nutrition

The thesis is about infant nutrition. The aim is to create a menu for infants replacement feeding. The work is divided into two parts. The first part will focus on nutritional problems in theory and in the second part of this problem we apply in practice, is necessary to observe the conditions and requirements of food, or energy value, the daily dose of protein, fat, fiber and carbohydrates. The work is also about optimization systems, specifically MS Excel Solver and modeling system Lingo.

Mají kuřáci nižší mzdy?

This study examines relationship between smoking cigarettes and wage. Studies have found statistically significant wage penalty for smoking cigarettes before (from 3 to 10 %). This study works with cross-sectional data consisting of US residents. The source of the data is The Panel Study of Income Dynamics which was found in 1968. The results in this work suggest 6-10% wage penalty for smoking cigarettes using 3 econometric models. The wage penalty can be caused for example by the health impact of smoking which can affect the productivity of worker. It can be also explained by differences in education between smokers and nonsmokers or by the discrimination of smokers on labor market.

Financial analysis of company Čedok, a.s.

The purpose of this thesis is to perform a financial analysis and evaluate the financial situation of the company Čedok, a.s. The thesis is divided into two parts, methodical and practical. The methodical part contains particular indicators and techniques used in the practical part to make a complete reflection of the financial situation in the company. The company is persued for the last three financial years (from 2010 to 2012). The source of information are annual reports of the company. This thesis also contains a complement deals with intercompany comparison of selected indicators with its competitor, EXIM Tours, a.s. The end of thesis includes a complete evaluation of results achieved from practical part, suggestions and recommendation to improve the financial situation in the company.

Efektivní politická komunikace

Publikace, která se vám dostává do rukou, si klade za cíl posílení komu- nikačních schopností a dovedností v politických tématech. Získat si přízeň voličů, veřejnosti nebo určitých skupin je dnes extrémně důležité. Ať půso- bíte v evropských institucích, státní správě nebo v politickém aparátu, tak je přízeň velmi důležitým ukazatelem. Efektivní využití úspěšných postupů a nových technologií je obsahem příspěvků ve sborníku. Anna Matušková se ve svém příspěvku Politika a komunikace zabývá otázkou, proč je důležité komunikovat se svým voličem a jak dále formulo- vat své sdělení. Ve druhém textu se Otto Eibl snaží představit nový fenomén v dnešním komunikačním světě a to takzvaný Web 2.0, který může, ale i nemusí pomoct politikům nebo mediátorům k novým možnostem v kon- taktu s veřejností. Jan Krčmář ve svém textu „Vizuální image v politice“ vysvětluje, že komunikace není vaší jedinou zbraní. Je-li čtenář voličem, kandidujícím politikem, novinářem, studentem či jinak aktivním členem občanské společnosti, najde v této publikace cenné informace a doporučení, jež se týkají významu politické komunikace. Věřím, že rady zprostředkované příspěvky v této publikaci pomohou významně obohatit čtenáře, kteří se chtějí dozvědět více o problematice marketingu a politické komunikace. Je jen na nás jakých nástrojů použi- jeme, nicméně jednou z cest jak úspěšně prosadit své zájmy je naslouchat druhým.

The end of thesis is a study about auditing on Vietnam. The work pays attention to current requirements to obtain a certificate for operate the accounting and auditing services in Vietnam.

In today's business environment of sharp competition it is very difficult to gain favour of customers, as their needs are more difficult to satisfy as time progresses. This situation creates incentives for more efficient use of traditional as well as new communication media for establishing contacts with customers. The aim of this thesis is to analyze some of the current trends in area of marketing communication, elaborate on the grounds these trends are based upon, the reasons for their development and their weaknesses and strengths. A more detailed analysis will be dedicated to mobile marketing, which is one of the new, dynamically developing trends that has recently been showing increased popularity.
