Katolicismus a občanská společnost v České republice

The thesis The Catholicism and The Civil Society in The Czech Republic examines the relationship of these two entities and putative views on it. In the first part of the thesis the historical development of the Catholic church on our territory is outlined, from first Christian missions, to bloom of church activities, enlightenment, dissipation of Austrian- Hungarian Empire, finally to persecutions of the communistic era. It is followed by an analysis of processes as secularisation, privatisation and deprivatisation, which influenced and still influence the perception of catholic doctrine and the position of the Romancatholic church. An important part of the thesis is the analysis of the contemporary expert discussion on broad issue of relationship between the civil society and religion. This discussion focuses mostly on catholicism and it is performed by Jan Sokol, Karel Nešpor and Tomáš Halík, as representatives. An international comparison of church - state relatioship is shown in the thesis, describing the situation in France, Great Britain and The United States. The analysis of the real level of religiosity in the Czech Republic and results of investigations on this issue are comprised in the next part of the thesis and indicate a permanent influence of catholicism in the Czech society. Non-profit organizations and prostitution

The thesis deals with problems of prostitution and non--profit organizations in the context of the civil sector. Prostitution is a phenomenon which goes along with mankind, in the past as well as nowadays. The approach towards prostitution has been changing as the times changed, depending on different moral, political and religious beliefs. This approach was reflected in laws which banned prostitution, regulated it or ignored it. After 1989 prostitution in the Czech Republic became more evident and the number of people who offered and demanded paid sexual services increased as a consequence of open borders and elimination of the central totalitarian power. The growth was recorded not only in prostitution on voluntary basis but also on involuntary basis called trafficking in human beings. Non-profit organizations being almost exclusive providers of specific services in the area of prostitution. Comparative analysis of British and Dutch programme of support of civil society in the CR between 1995-2003

This master's thesis is concerned with the process of constituting civil society in the Czech Republic within the 1990s when many foreign embassies administrated their own programmes for promoting civil society in the Czech Republic, the most significant programmes were held by British and Dutch Embassy in Prague. The introduction part of the thesis provides an introduction to the issue in social, law, statistical and economic perspectives, and at the same time it outlines the initial difficulties of nonprofit organizations in raising subsidies, grants and money contributions from both national and foreign resources. Further, the thesis provides a comparative analysis of the support programmes administrated by both British Embassy and Dutch Embassy, with a special emphasis on the analysis of their effects, assets and long-term support effectiveness. In addition, the potential EU financial resources to be applied for after the Czech Republic's accession to the EU are introduced.
Prejudice and multicultural education

Concerned with prejudices and stereotypes in a society and their prevention, this master's thesis outlines the key basis and theories of stereotyping both in a psychological and a social perspective. A special emphasis is placed on Roma minority being analysed from the perspective of the majority society as well as the minority itself. The thesis focuses on introducing multicultural education, in particular the project "Czech Kid", as a means of increasing prejudice and stereotypes awareness and of modifying our behaviour. The project analysis together with the text extraxts are provided in the practical part of the thesis.

This master's thesis aims to provide the satisfaction study of the participants in the leisure time activities program designed for people with mental retardation. The main research question to be pursued is: Are the participants satisfied with the content of the program and thus is it worth to continue the program? Providing the satisfaction study, it aims to set the satisfaction criteria and to compare the results with the present program realization and its implementation to the practice.
Regenerating the Civil Society in Opava

Based on a questionnaire survey, this master's thesis focuses on studying the transformation of Opava City after the breakdown of communist system in terms of the regeneration of civil society. Through comparison of the demographic, economic, political and associational life attributes of the present society with the period of the First Republic, the thesis attempts to describe how public life intervenes to the personal life of an individual, to what degree the individual identifies with it, whether it is worthy being a member of an association or club. Finally, it studies whether the associational life follows the tradition of the First Republic.
