This thesis concerns with legislative initiative of female deputies in the National Assembly of First Czechoslovak republic and with the concept of representation. The goal of this study is to determine to what extent was the legislative initiative of female deputies influenced by the ideological affiliation to their party and to what extent by the representation of specific women's interests. Two kinds of representations, ideological and functional, are used in this study. The sources of information are the stenographical records of the single parliamentary sessions. The research itself consists of the analysis of the speeches of the female politicians in plenum by application of particular elements of the concept of representation. The two important points in the course of the female deputies activities are the representation of the woman question in the point of view of the functional representation and the representation of the ideology from the standpoint of ideological representation. Dorota T. Moravská ABSTRACT: Diploma thesis "(De)securitization of the 'Jewish question' in Slovakia in the years 1945- 1948" examines how society in the post-war period approached the "Jewish question" from the perspective of the securitization theory. The thesis recognizes domestic and foreign dimension of the process and shows that in the society contradictory tendencies were present at the same time - while in the area of foreign policy people involved exerted pressure on the Slovak political elites to desecuritize the question, in the area of domestic relations the "involved public" took steps in the opposite direction. The holocaust as a social phenomenon
Moravská, Dorota Tabitha ; Petrusek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Kotík, Michal (referee)
The work deals with Holocaust denial as a social phenomenon that is considered to be a form of anti-Semitism. It describes the roots of Holocaust denial in Europe and in the USA and its subsequent extension in other parts of the world, focusing especially on Arabic/ Muslim countries where this phenomenon represents part of the official propaganda and constitutes and active element of Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The thesis then depicts the methodology of Holocaust denial which leads to the thought that the Holocaust denial is a means used by individuals or groups whose goal is to enforce their broader ideological intentions and thus in its fundamental nature it resembles the activities of totalitarian ideologies and regimes for whom history manipulation has been an effective strategy. At the end, based on the findings of sociological research, the paper tries to outline the extent of success of the Holocaust denier's effort in broader public.
