Premiant of Foreign Development Cooperation - a Case Study of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

v anglickém jazyce The aim of this Master's thesis is to answer the question why Luxembourg contributes more to official development assistance (ODA) than recommended, why it increases its official development assistance to 1% of GNI. The work is based on the hypothesis that Luxembourg, a small state, is trying to increase its status through foreign development cooperation and through its gradual increase in official development assistance. By reaching 0.7% of GNI, Luxembourg is among the other four countries, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, which have already met this threshold. This group of five countries is the only one that has managed to increase its official development assistance to 1% of GNI and is considered the most generous donor. Luxembourg has averaged 1% of GNI since 2009, reaching number one in recent years, making it the most generous country. Luxembourg achieved 0.7% of GNI for the first time in 2000. In 2009, it reached 1% of GNI for the first time. The timing of the research is limited to these years 2000-2009. This bachelor thesis deals with the legacy of Francisco Franco in contemporary Spain on the example of the Francisco Franco National Foundation. The bachelor's thesis focuses mainly on the so-called Francisco Franco National Foundation, which is the most significant Spanish organization that not only defends this authoritarian leader, but also manages an archive of documents that Franco has collected during his life. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is a deeper review of the activities of the Francisco Franco National Foundation, which defends the legacy of Francisco Franco and his regime and does not agree that the francoist past should be understood as a negative issue in the history of Spain. The main research question posed by the bachelor's thesis is: "How does the Francisco Franco National Foundation recall Franco's legacy in contemporary Spain and what is its position in contemporary Spanish society?" Spanish Government's Response to Immigration and Integration Policies During the Economic Crisis of 2008-2014

This bachelor thesis deals with the impact of the economic crisis on immigration policy in Spain in the years 2008-2015. The research focuses mainly in the reactions of Spanish fovernments in the filed of immigration and integration policy in response to the economic crisis of 2008-2014. The economic crisis marked the biggest downturn for both the global and Spanish economies since the crisis of the 1930's. The aim of the thesis is to prove that the economic crisis meant a change in the orientation of immigration and integration policy in Spain by analyzing the approach of individual Spanish governments in this period. The first two parts of the thesis are devoted to defining the basic concepts related to migration and the historical context of Spanish development in the field of migration. Furthermore, the work describes the development of the economic crisis in the world and in Spain and examines how foreigners located on Spanish territory were affected. The main part of the work is an analysis of the approach of government political parties of the People's Party and Socialists to immigration and integration during the economic crisis with regard to the adoption of measures and legislative changes.
Student Opposition Movement under Franco's Dictatorship in 1956-1975

The bachelor thesis is focused on the anti-Franco student movement in Spain during Franco's dictatorship between the years 1956 and 1975. The research concentrates mainly on the position of the student movement and its protest activities. This thesis aims to analyze the activities of the student movement, its development, achievements, and potential impact on the decision-making of the Francoist government. The paper answers the question of whether the student movement caused any concessions made by the Francoist government. Firstly, the paper deal with conditions at universities before the year 1956. At these times, universities were formed by restrictive measures and by attempts for the catholicization of the education system. In this section, author focuses on the role of the regime at universities. This chapter concentrates also on the formation and development of student movement until the crucial year 1956 which became a landmark in organizing continuous protests. The pivotal section of the research follows which chronologically examines activities of the student opposition movement in the years 1956 and 1975. Democratic Spain's fight against gender-baseddiscrimination

This bachelor thesis deals with gender policies adopted in Spain by individual governments in years 1982 - 2018. It analyzes election programs, legislative changes, the emergence of specialized institutions and in some cases the response of Spanish society to these measures. The aim of this work is to record the changes that have occurred in gender policy in Spain after the country's transition to democracy, and especially after the Socialist Party took over the government in 1982 and to find out whether the attitudes of the two main Spanish political parties on this issue differ. The work is divided into four main parts according to individual government periods. These four chapters examine whether the attitude of individual Spanish governments to the issue of women's rights has changed and what each government has emphasized. At the same time, it examines where, on the contrary, it has remained only with populist pre-election promises without the real fulfillment of the set goals. Last but not least, the work also evaluates other societal events and factors which, together with the policies of individual governments, have influenced the position of women in Spanish society on the path to achieving gender equality.
Comparison of the Colonial Policy of the Portuguese New State During 1926-1945 and 1945-1961: An Ideological and Legislative Perspective

The Portuguese New State (1926-1974), as the longest lasting authoritarian regime of its kind in Europe, was making efforts in maintaining its sovereignty on the global scale. Especially the view of the international community on colonialism underwent significant transformation in the course of the examined period and the Portuguese regime had to reflect the changing order in its stances as well. The thesis conducts a comparison of the particular features of the colonial rule during time periods 1926-1945 and 1945-1961. Firstly, the emphasis is placed on the comparison of laws which adjusted colonial administration and status of the natives in overseas dominions. Secondly, the colonial ideologies the Imperial Mystique and Lusotropicalism are described and compared as they provided grounds for the advocation of Portuguese presence in its colonies. The main objective of the thesis is to confirm whether the regime in the postwar period, through the reformulation of the legislative documents at least legally got on the road to the progressive administration in the colonies. Racism and identity of second generation Afro-Caribbean immigrants in Great Britain. Critical discourse analysis of selected Brititsh roots reggae texts produced in second half of 1970's

Racial tensions in UK escalating to violent conflicts from early 50ʼs on, led to series of changes in British legislation. Migration was systematically restricted, and regulations of entry were becoming much more severe. Discrimination of Caribbean and Asian immigrants in labor market, housing and education was extensive. Every attempt to address racial discrimination on the level of legislation was inefficient and hardly enforceable. Case study presented is situated in this social-political context. It is focused on second generation of afro-Caribbean minority in 70ʼs and its reaction to expulsion from British society, denying British identity and its fight against oppression through music and especially through language used itself. Jamaican Creole and in British, most notably in London surroundings, on Creole based system of adaptations called London Jamaican became significant feature of ethnic identification of afro-Caribbean (black) adolescents. This feature was used in conversations almost always through phenomenon of code-switching, where Creole features used were linked to attempt to define the speaker against dominant white society and oppressive system. Impacts of the migrant crisis on Italy

One of the actual resonating topics in Europe is so called migration crisis. European Union struggles to get unexpected flows of migrants under control, trying to figure out an optimum way to take over and stabilize the region and get the situation under control. The work is approached as Case study with goal to map the migrant flows into Italy from 2014 to 2017 and to identify differences, whether the Italian approach is or is not in compliance with the central EU steps. Main sense is to verify the hypothesis that EU is not capable of dealing sufficiently with migrant inflows in short-term. The theoretical part of the bachelor work provides general explanation of the European migration crisis and presents migration flows progress in the four years history. The analytical part explores key elements of Italian approach and accompanying effect of human rights violation. Possible future scenarios are drafted at the very end of this bachelor work.
