Luminescence spectroscopy of impurities in fast oxide scintillators
Kučerková, Romana ; Kučera, Miroslav (advisor) ; Mareš, Jiří A. (referee)
In the present work we studied the dependence on concentration gallium ion in single crystal LGAG: Pr a LuAG: Pr, prepared by ,,micro-pulling down,, method (-PD) at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan. -PD method allows growing a single crystal using small amount of row material, typically less than 1 g, in time period of one day because of very high growth speed up to 20mm/min. Scintillation materials are necessary for a number of applications (e.g. medicine), in which high spatial resolution is required. The aim of this work was to measure luminescence and scintillation characteristics of the Pr3+ doped -PD grown Lu3Al5O12 single crystal host. The absorption, photo- and radioluminescence spectra and both photoluminescence and scintillation decay curves were measured. The photoluminescence decay curves was single-exponetial characterized by a lifetime around 17ns. Slow components were present in the scintillation decay curves. This is a consequence of retrapping of the charge carriers on electron traps connected with the anti-site defects, which are generally present in Czochralski od -PD grown aluminium garnets. On the other hand, they are completely supressed in the liquid-phase-epitaxy grown single crystalline films due to lower growth temperature. Excitation spectra of the 5d-4f luminescence completely...
Statistical aspects of nuclear collective dynamics
Macek, Michal ; Cejnar, Pavel (advisor) ; Kvasil, Jan (referee) ; Mareš, Jiří (referee)
The current PhD thesis presents a collection of selected articles related to the theoretical and numerical study of low-energy collective dynamics of atomic nuclei. The articles were published or recently submitted to international physics journals and were authored or co-authored by the author of the thesis. The eects in collective dynamics have been studied within the framework of two common models-the interacting boson model (IBM) and to a lesser extent the geometric collective model (GCM). The "statistical aspects" in the title relate predominantly to the interplay of ordered and chaotic behavior observed in properties of quantum eigenstates as well as in the classical limits of the models. The main attention was devoted to correlations between the measures of regularity/chaos and the presence of exact and approximate dynamical symmetries. An important subject of the studies were also the relationships between the properties of the classical and quantum solutions of the models both in the integrable regime as well as in the mixed regime containing elements of regularity and chaos simultaneously.

Author: Pavlína Vejrková Institution: Charles University in Prague, Medical faculty of Hradec Králové, Institute of social medicine, Department of nursing Title of thesis: Patients' Quality of Life after Breast Cancer with Lymphoedema Consultant: Prof. PhDr. Jiří Mareš, CSc. Number of pages: 94 Number of appendices: 5 Year of defense: 2012 Key words: Lymphedema, quality of life, complex decongestiv therapy This bachelor thesis deals with the quality of life of breast cancer patients who suffer from lymphedema. The theoretical part focuses on lymphedema, its treatment, complications and associated limitations in the life of the patient and on the definition of quality of life. Lymphedema is a treatable disease, but it is not always curable. It restricts patients both physically and mentally. The practical part describes the research by means of an anonymous questionnaire. The examined sample consisted of 41 patients who were treated in the Lymhocentre in Náchod and in Nové Město nad Metují. These patients underwent surgery for breast cancer, were within 5 years of the completed cancer treatment and suffer from lymphedema of their hand. The obtained results showed that after the lymphedema treatment 98 % patients showed alleviation of somatic difficulties and improvement in the quality of their lives.
Novel thin scintillation films for 2D imaging screens
Hanuš, Martin ; Kučera, Miroslav (advisor) ; Mareš, Jiří A. (referee)
In this work we studied properties of Ce doped garnet scintillator layers (CexLu3-xAl5O12, CexY3-xAl5O12). They were prepared by liquid phase epitaxy. Studied materials show fast response, high quantum efficiency and good chemical and mechanical stability. Thus they are ideal for use in devices for 2D imaging. We measured absorption, excitation and emission spectra and kinetics of luminescence. Aim was to compare properties of grown layers with properties of single crystals grown by Czochralski method. We looked for the impact of melt compounds to measured layer properties. We also tried to determine optimal amount of Ce in layer. We used flux PbO - B2O3 and flux BaO - BaF2 - B2O3. In those fluxes we succeeded to grow garnet layers at temperatures as low as 1000řC. This lead to less intrinsic defects in crystalic lattice of layer in comparison to single crystals grown by Czochralski method (1900řC). Our layers were from 1 to 30 mm thick with higher concentration of Ce than singlecrystal. Due to higher concentration of impurities in layers grown from PbO - B2O3 flux we grown layers from BaO - BaF2 - B2O3 flux too. Flux BaO - BaF2 - B2O3 leaves less impurities in layers.

Currently geriatrics patient is associated mainly with nursing care, soial and long- therm constitutional. Very important part in a care about old person is their family and its active involvement into care. Research investigation is focused on environment of long- therm hospital, communication, attitude of care staff and care about patients. Researched sample were 103 patients and 92 family members in three long- therm hospitals in...
Study of exotic hypernuclei
Posolda, Petr ; Mareš, Jiří (advisor) ; Kvasil, Jan (referee)
The thesis focuses on the study of properties of exotic hypernuclei, particularly of beryllium, carbon, oxygen and neon isotopes with and hyperons. Calculations were performed in the framework of the relativistic mean field theory (RMF) where a (hyper)nucleus is treated as a system of Dirac spinors (nucleons, hyperons) interacting via (mean) meson fields. The exotic hypernuclei were considered as axial symmetric. Up to now, hypernuclear calculations have been performed under assumption of spherical symmetry. This work thus extends hypernuclear calculations to the region of exotic, generally deformed systems. For the above nuclei, the numerical calculations of the binding energies and root mean square radii were performed. Moreover, we studied influence of the tensor interaction between meson and hyperon on the spin-orbit splitting. The results confirmed that the presence of the hyperon increases values of the binding energy of a system and on the contrary, it decreases its root mean square radius. We studied the possibility of the existence of the hyperon bound states in a nucleus. For the above isotopes, no bound states were found for the + hyperons. On the other hand, weekly bound states of the - hyperon are predicted for several isotopes.
View of the patient and a view of the nurse on quality of life
Portlová, Emilie ; Mareš, Jiří (advisor) ; Vaňková, Dana (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the quality of life of polymorbid women patients, seniors hospitalized in the institution of subsequent care. The aim of the work was to determine whether and to what extent there is a diference between the selected patients' view and the nurses' view of the patients'quality of life. The theoretical part primarily focuses on the old age and ageing process, its causes, positive and negative sides, and therapy options in terms of scientific studies. It also describes the terms related to the bachelor thesis, such as geriatrics, geriatric patient, but also the concept of quality of life and its measurement approaches. The empirical part studies the quality of life of six patients and there was chosen a qualitative approach. It was a recorded interview, which was transcribed into a protocol and analysed. It resulted into a theoretical model, which has these parts: Period before the illness, Turning- point, Current state, Memories and Future perspectives. The chosen patients compared their current state, their present quality of life in the way how they experience it during the illness with the quality of life before the illness, and with their view to the future. It was confirmed that polymorbidity had affected their quality of life in all areas. The other group of...
