Fishes in streams of the Beskydy Protected landscape region
Lusk, Stanislav ; Lusková, Věra ; Halačka, Karel ; Lojkásek, B.
The river network of the Beskydy PLR (1,620 km2 ) belongs to the hydrological systems of Baltic and Black seas. It mainly consists of minor streams of the orders I and II. The basic components of their fish stock include Salmo trutta m. fario and Cottus poecilopus. In lower part of bigger streams are also additional species (Thymallus thymallus, Leuciscus cephalus, Alburnoides bipunctatus, Gobio gobio, Cottus gobio, etc.).
The status of Eudontomyzon mariae in the Račí potok Brook (Northern Moravia)
Hanel, L. ; Lusk, Stanislav
Since 1994, the status has been monitored of population torso of Eudontomyzon mariae, that occurs in a single locality (Račí potok Brook, near Velké Losiny) in the Czech Republic. A sample taken in May 2003 contained 12 larvae between 37 and 195 mm total length.
Occurence of Gobio kesslerii Dybowski, 1862 in the River Morava
Merta, L. ; Lusk, Stanislav
Gobio kesslerii is among the rare species in the ichthyofauna of the Czech Republic. Until recently, this species has been only know to occur in the River Bečvy (a tributary to the Morava River). In the autumn of 2003, numerous G. kesslerii were ascertained in the River Morava between the mouth of the r. Bečva (r.km 210.7) up to the weir at Bolelouc (r.km 221.04).
Fish fauna of artificial wetland within the Chomoutovské jezero nature reserve, PLA Litovelské Pomoraví
Horák, Václav ; Lusk, Stanislav ; Lusková, Věra ; Halačka, Karel ; Mendel, Jan
The Chomoutov wetland was inhabited naturaly during extreme flood in 1997. During the research period, 2001-2003, 15 fish species were found in total. Most numerous within the fish community were populations of the species Rutilus rutilus, Scardinius erythropthalmus, Carassius auratus and Perca fluviatilis.
Diploid, triploid and tetraploid silver crucian carp Carassius auratus from the lower reach of Dyje River: the first results of reproductive characteristics and experimental hybridization
Flajšhans, Martin ; Lusková, Věra ; Vetešník, Lukáš ; Halačka, Karel ; Rodina, Marek ; Lusk, Stanislav ; Gela, David
Diploid, triploid and tetraploid males of silver crucian carp, Carassius auratus, produced live motile spermatozoa, capable of fertilization. Flow cytometry for the relative DNA content in male gametes revealed spermatozoa of diploid males to be haploid, those of triploid males to be aneuploid and those of tetraploid male to be aneuploid and/or diploid. Concentration of spermatozoa and the percentage of live spermatozoa showed a tendency to drop with increasing ploidy level and this effect was significant for the tetraploid male compared to those of lower ploidy levels.
The proposal of the pSCI sites for fishes and lampreys for system of NATURA 2000 in the Czech Republic
Dušek, J. ; Dušek, M. ; Lusk, Stanislav
For 15 fish and 1 lamprey species, the territory of potential Site of Community Interest (pSCI) has been limited and proposed (Annex to the Council Directive No. 92/43/EEC). In total, 80 pSCI localities for fish and lampreys in the continental area and 7 pSCI localities in the pannonic area in the Czech Republic were selected.
The ichthyofauna of the National Nature Reserve "Křivé jezero" and adjacent parts of the River Dyje
Lusk, Stanislav ; Lusková, Věra ; Halačka, Karel
In the hydrological system of the National Nature Reserve "Křivé jezero" in the floodplain of the River Dyje, the occurrence of 24 fish species were found. Only two species of them (Carassius auratus, Pseudorasbora parva) were exotic. In the fish community of that place the species Rutilus rutilus, Scardinius erythropthalmus, Abramis bjoerkna and Perca fluviatilis were dominant. The close section of the Dyje River had a similar species composition of its fish assemblage.
Growth of Zingel streber and Zingel zingel and their distribution in the Czech Republic
Vetešník, Lukáš ; Halačka, Karel ; Lusková, Věra ; Lusk, Stanislav
Zingel streber and Zingel zingel are typical Danubian species occurring rarely in the Morava River drainage area within the waters of the Czech Republic. The restoration of both species was conditioned by constant improvements of the water quality and by possibilities of free migrations from the Danube through the Slovakian-Austrian part of the Morava River. The constant occurrence of both species is constrained at present to short sections (Morava r. km 70-74.1 and Dyje 0.0-26.7, resp.).
The influence of ploidy on the complete blood count in silver crucian carp
Vetešník, Lukáš ; Halačka, Karel ; Lusková, Věra ; Lusk, Stanislav
In the sample of 27 specimens of silver crucian carp (Carassius auratus) of different ploidy (5 diploids, 21 triploids and 1 tetraploid), the red component of complete blood count was found. Using the analysis of variance test, highly significantly lower erythrocyte count, insignificantly lower haemoglobin count and haematocrit value were proved. The mean corpuscular volume was increasing significantly with the ploidy increased, and mean corpuscular haemoglobin was increasing highly significantly with the ploidy increased. The tetraploid specimen indicated similar trend depending on the higher ploidy level.
