The Atmosphere in the Czech and Slovak Society after the Breakup of the Czechoslovakia: The Event in the Context of Comments in the Broadcasting of the Czech and Slovak Radio (1.1.-31.12.1993)

This diploma thesis aims to convey the atmosphere in the Czech and Slovak society at the time of the Breakup of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic. For this purpose, comments broadcasted by Czechoslovak Radio, Czech Radio respectively, and Slovak Radio were analyzed. The author collected all such comments connected with the breakup of Czechoslovakia between the 1st of July, 1992, and the 31st of December, 1993, regardless of whether these comments focused on the defense, criticism, causes, or consequences of this event. For the analysis itself, the method of analytic induction was used. To put the issue into a broader context, the analysis itself is preceded by a brief overview of events related to the breakup of Czechoslovakia in the period under review. The overview is followed by a description of how the event was perceived by Vladimir Mečiar and Václav Klaus, leaders of the two most powerful political parties in Czechoslovakia at that time and, therefore, the main figures of the breakup. The description is based on their publications and social outputs. This bachelor thesis is constructed from two parts. Practical part, that is attached separately as an mp3. file and theoretical part, that should broaden and amend the practical part. Practical part is designed as an interview with doctor Jan Paták from the Intensive Care Unit. The goal of this practical part is to show in detail how does the work of the first line doctor against the covid-19 looks like, how it influences his personal life and his opinions on the topics related to the pandemic. Theoretical part introduces radio interview as a genre, its history, types of radio interview, compares it to podcasts and points out the technical side of it, such as preparation of the host, lead of the interview and it's post-production edit. In the second part of the theoretical part, the author evaluates the observance of the described principles and reflects his own work.
Selected public service media and their activity to increase digital literacy in society

The bachelor thesis deals with the concept of digital literacy in relation to public service media. The theoretical part first clarifies the conceptualisation of digital literacy, then analyses the development of the term from its first occurrences to its current understanding. It then discusses the relevance of digital literacy in European legislation, especially in the context of long-term strategies, analyses the current situation with digital skills in Europe and describes the educational role of public service media. In the methodological part, it defines the research methods, the theoretical background and the explanation of their application in the follow-up research part, operationalises the concept of digital literacy and defines the research sample. The research part comparatively examines the activities of the public service media BBC and Czech Television, first in the programme offer, then in the web-based educational portals. The research part concludes with an analysis of content on web-based educational portals focused on the development of digital competences, applying the DigComp framework.
The History and the Presence of Czech Radio's Programme O Roma vakeren (The Roma Speak) - A Radio Montage

O Roma vakeren (translated from Romani as "The Roma Speak") is a Czech Radio program that informs listeners about Romani life in the Czech Republic and around the world. It is produced by the Romani editorial office, which was established shortly after the establishment of the independent Czech Radio nearly thirty years ago, and by broadcasting it, the radio seeks to fulfil its role of a public service medium. In its practical part, this bachelor thesis deals with both the history and the presence of this programme in the form of a radio montage. The resulting montage is based on the answers of the programme's creators recorded by the author and archival sound recordings from the history of Czech Radio. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the reader to the Romani national minority in the Czech Republic and presents the domestic Romani media, which almost without exception began to emerge after the regime change in Czechoslovakia in the late 1980s.
The border: Series of radio interviews mapping the fates of war refugees from Ukraine

Through a radio interview series, this bachelor thesis deals with war refugees residing in the Czech Republic and partly in Slovakia. The theoretical part of the thesis aims to describe interviews as one of the most widespread journalist genres, with an emphasis on radio interviews as it is a crucial component of the practical part of the thesis. Furthermore, the theoretical part outlines the specifics and types of radio interviews. In the following chapters, the thesis aims to briefly describe the reasons for choosing this particular thesis form and topic, and more importantly, to set it in the current context. Finally, the last section introduces the procedures and methods used in creating the radio interview series, explains the process of interviewees' election, and provides an elaborate description of the production and postproduction of the practical part of the bachelor thesis. The practical part consists of the radio interview series called The Border, which contains three approximately twelve-minute-long interviews, each providing a different insight into the situation of war refugees from Ukraine in the Czech Republic. Practical bachelor thesis "Interest subcultures and is this still a hobby?" Radio reports on the life of communities connected with the way of spending free time deals with two selected subcultures of interest. Their members differ from the rest of society in the way they spend their free time. Selected subcultures are radio amateurs and fans of public transport. In the theoretical part, I describe the genre that I chose to report on these subcultures, and that is field report. I also mention the specifics of radio production, focusing on field report, I focus on the format of the podcast and I define the terms subculture and community. I also describe the mentioned subcultures. In the practical part, I use the knowledge from the theoretical part to create the basis of a radio series of reports. I made the first two episodes for this bachelor thesis. They focus on a detailed description of the activities that unite the subcultures, explaining their motivation, the problems they face, the internal relations between their members and their own view of the subculture.
Radio reportage from traditional harvests in the Vysočina region

The essence of this bachelor's thesis is to present the genre of radio reportage and its practical processing during the grain harvest also called žně. In the first part of the thesis, the author gives a theoretical introduction to the reportage genre and at the same time discusses its development on the domestic scene up to the present day. The thesis also describes the topic of the grain harvest, about which the author made a fifteen-minute long audio report. The second half defines the process of preparation for the shoot, the course of the shoot and the subsequent post-production. During the latter, the soundtracks were sorted and cleaned so that they could be worked with in the final editing.

Practical bachelor thesis reflects the Czech music scene through the eyes of musicians, music industry operators, producents, and also technicians and sound engineers during the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic. The thesis contains two parts - a theoretical part and a practical part. The practical part, named Tones in the dark times, has the form of 15 minutes long podcast episode. Popularization-educational recording contains primarily from interviews obtained during 2021 with music industry personalities. The thesis describes a transformation of the industry and tries to define the complicated situation of interviewees. The recording is also enhanced with the author's monologues which unite interviews into one complex report. Above that, contribute factual pieces of information and the author's observations. The recording formally contains elements of a broadcast/radio report. The theoretical part is based on researched literature and other information sources. It tries to add a contextual background and describe the realization of the podcast episode. It defines necessary concepts as "podcast" and "podcasting" primarily. Undertaker - A Radio Podcast About an Unusual Profession

Through the radio podcast, this bachelor thesis is focusing on the profession of undertakers. It aims to capture the environment in which they work and how they reflect on their job themselves. In the theoretical part, the author offers the basic theoretical framework by defining the terms 'radio' and 'podcast' while putting them into context. Furthermore, she introduces the topic of the Czech burial, clarifies her motivation for choosing such a topic, and mentions aspects fundamental for the creation of the practical part. There is also its final transcription attached. The practical part of this work is processed in the form of a radio podcast. Hereby the listener can view the professional life of the funeral service workers through conducted interviews, authentic and archival sounds, or music.
