The Leading Role of the State in the Process of the Formation of the Public Institutes in the Contemporaneous Russia
Sorokin, Anton ; Litera, Bohuslav (advisor) ; Svoboda, Karel (referee)
The Thesis is focused on the leading role of the Russian state in the process of the Formation of the Public Institutes in the Contemporaneous Russia. As a theoretic basis of the thesis we use the institutional approach. The State has always played a significant role in Russia. All the reforms were initiated by the governing structures. The reforms were characterized by enormous concentration of the human and material sources. As a result the Russian people are quite conservative and distrustful of any possible changes. The Russian National Mentality (RNM) due to the historical experiences is more Asiatic than European. But at the moment we can observe some globalization movements in Russia that could have an impact to the RNM changing on the basis of the European liberal patterns. The State in transitional economic systems should play a leading role because only State could be a guarantor of the legality of perpetual transitions. In the Contemporaneous Russia the State is traditionally a strong partner of the other two main actors of the institutional economy: firms and households. But now we can observe a peculiar situation when the firms and the households are changing quicker then a state. The state now is a main holder of the Russian traditional conservative mentality. It is difficult to predict any...

Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and its Place in Russian Foreign and Security Policies
Jančárková, Taťána ; Litera, Bohuslav (advisor) ; Šír, Jan (referee)
The master thesis analyses mutual relations of Russia and the OSCE in the context of post-Cold War European security. It first briefly introduces the main concepts and principles of international security to subsequently analyse the parallel developments of Russian foreign and security policies and of the OSCE, with particular focus on Russian criticism of the Organisation and on interests of other stakeholders. The study admits Russia's vested interests in the OSCE and a gradual weakening of the latter's importance for Russia; it argues, however, that the OSCE indeed suffers from structural deficiencies as well as from pursuit of own agendas by other participating states. The paper eventually confirms the initial hypothesis suggesting that the OSCE still represents a relevant forum of which Russia recognises the potential.

The Evolution of the EU's Strategic Thinking in Relation to Russia: The Factor of the Eastern Enlargement of the European Union
Gusačenko, Irina ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Litera, Bohuslav (referee)
This paper examined the development of the Strategic thinking of the European Union towards Russia from the beginning of the 1990 s till 2004. The paper recognized the existence of the three main strategies: bilateral one, multilateral and special one. The first strategy is characterized by giving the priority directly to the relationship between Russia and the member states of the EU. The Russian Federation neglected the existence of the European Union as an independent actor on the international scene during the 90 s. The specific example of such a behavior could be the relationship between Russia and Germany. This fact makes it more difficult for the EU to promote the coherent strategy of the European Union as a whole towards Russia. Due to the disgruntlement and frequent clashes between Russia and the EU, the two entities decided to use the so called special strategy in their relations. This strategy is based namely on the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and on the Concept of the Four Common Spaces which began to be developed in 2000. The Union's eastern enlargement paved the way for the qualitative change in the strategic thinking of the European Union. Polish government proposed new concept, so called "Eastern dimension" of the European Union. This initiative gave the impulses for the evolution...

The Thesis deals with the problem of Stalin's cult of personality. This question was presented to the Closed Session of the Twentieth Congress of Soviet Communist Party on 25th February 1956. This statement known as "The Secret Speech" was delivered by the First Party Secretary N. S. Khrushchev. In his speech he denounced Stalin's crimes mainly during the Great Terror in late 1930s. Khrushchev and other Stalin's successors had tried hard to deny their own responsibility for the bloody purges during Stalin's era. The Thesis concentrates on effects forming content of the Secret Speech paying attention to instant power struggles in Kremlin. Rehabilitation process and investigation of Stalin's crimes is also an important part of The Thesis. In the conclusion I tried to answer the question whether the Secret Speech was a real turning point and if the changes and reforms made by Khrushchev were fundamental, permanent and stable. Another thing is how far the Secret Speech influenced the Soviet Union, its communist legacy and the world in general. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
