Assessment of ecomorphological state and land use of Bylanka and Chotýšský brook flood plains
Slavíková, Pavlína ; Matoušková, Milada (referee) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor)
This diploma thesis is dealing with geoecological assessment of water courses in the Bylanka catchment. The model area is situated in the Central Bohemia in the district Kolín. The catchment has a character of flat hilly country with the highest altitudes over 400 m. Most of the area is used as fields, forests cover only 9 % of the territory. Bylanka (8,4 km) and its longest affluent Chotýšský brook (10,6 km) were chosen as model water courses. The geoecological assessment is composed of three different methods. Ecomorfological assessment (Matoušková, 2003) was used for water courses evaluation. This method divides the stream and its surroundings into 4 ecomorfological zones: stream channel, vegetation belt, flood plain and water basin. The final ecomorfological state is better in the case of Bylanka because this stream is less anthropogenic transformed due to deeper erosive incision in the Permian-Carboniferous formations where human couldn't change the stream flow. Proliferation of bank and riparian vegetation is the second method of water courses and its surroundings evaluation. White willow (Salix alba), black poplar (Populus nigra), aspen tree (Populus tremula) and common alder (Alnus glutinosa) are the most frequently occurring wood species. Land use changes in the flood plain of Bylanka and...
Landscape typology in the area of the Bohemian Paradise
Merhautová, Zuzana ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Romportl, Dušan (referee)
Landscape typology deals with the classification and description of cultural and natural landscape. European landscapes are going through irreversible changes that are mainly caused by intensive agriculture as well as they are affected by phenomenas such as globalization and unification. The traditional structure of the European landscape is disappearing. Landscape typology can serve us as a base for monitoring of these changes. There are many different methods of how to classify the landscape, which is a complicated object of interest. This thesis presents the landscape typology in the area of Bohemian Paradise using the objective statistical method of cluster analysis. Cluster analysis is a set of tools for building groups (clusters) from multivariate data objects. The aim is to construct groups with homogeneous properties - landscape types. To classify the landscape of Bohemian Paradise, only quantifiable data in digital format were used. Land Cover, relief, moisture and soils were included in input layers. The classification was made in Twinspan - a software using the ordination method to classify the landscape in the divisive hierarchy. The typology of the area of Bohemian Paradise was divided into four hierarchical levels and at the last fourth level 16 types of landscape were identified. The results...
Mapping and documentation of landscape important elements in the area of Novodvorsko.
Michalová, Edita ; Skaloš, Jan (referee) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor)
The Master's thesis deals with mapping and documentation of important landscape elements in cadasters Nové Dvory, Svatý Mikuláš and Rohozec. Important landscape element represents ecologically, geomorphological or aesthetically valuable part of the landscape that shapes its typical appearance and helps to maintain its stability. This category of general nature and landscape protection allows to protect the segments of the landscape, which do not have the parameters for publication in specially protected areas. Field mapping and selection of important landscape elements were made on the basis of basic maps of 1: 10 000 and color orthophoto. Selected elements of the landscape was divided into several categories and documented using the tables. Elements of each category were evaluated on the basis of monitored parameters and the available sources. Also the map of important landscape elements was created. In the territory was documented 120 important landscape elements belonging to the nine categories - forest, water, rivers, riparian vegetation, alleies and line of trees, permanent grassland, wetlands, islands of trees and cultural and historic elements. The found important landscape elements play in the cultural landscape, where there are not specially protected areas of nature, an important and irreplaceable...
Mapping and evaluation of abandoned areas in the landscape: A case study from the area of Černokostelecko.
Boďová, Michaela ; Kukla, Pavel (referee) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor)
The objective of this study is to map, classify and evaluate abandoned areas which are in the southern part of Černokostelecko. It begins with an examination of theories relating to abandoned land and landscape change. The study of abandoned land is rarely included in scientific studies. In the next part, applied part, were mapped coverage of wood species, former use, dominant plants and lenght of abandonment. The abandoned areas were classified and distributed according to their character. It was focused on floodplains of Jevanský and Vlkančický stream. It was found out that high proportion of abandoned areas are situated in floodplains. Most of these areas were formerly in use as pastures or meadows. The lenght of abandonment differs, but the majority date from after 1990, co-inciding with the instance of great economic and political change. Abandoned areas in floodplains has relatively low coverage of the wood species, whereas in areas outside floodplains, coverage of the wood species is considerably higher and it is probable that areas areas outside of floodplains will in future, be covered by forest. Landscape character of the LPA Biele Karpaty
Demková, Katarína ; Treml, Václav (referee) ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor)
The landscape character has become a topical issue in many European countries in the 90's as well as in the Czech Republic. Since this period a lot of scientists and specialists of various branches have solved problems of the landscape character, the question of its terminology and evaluation. The master thesis is especially about the landscape character assessment (further only LCA). This question has been solved till today, also due to a new building law in the Czech Republic from 2006. The admission of this law means for the authorities of nature and landscape protection the statutory duty of including conditions of the protection of landscape character into the documents of territorial planning. A few methodologies of the LCA on the different area levels have been developed. The aim of the master thesis is a proposal of the methodology of the LCA and its application in the model area in the southwestern part of the Biele Karpaty Mountains (White Carphathians) in Western Slovakia. The model area is interesting because of an unique cultural landscape created by human activities and settlement during several centuries. In consequence of the social and the cultural diversity, the variety of folklore speech as well as due to typical kind of dispersed settlement ("crofts") the Landscape Protected Area Biele...
The invasive neophytes' occurrence in the riverbank vegetation
Matějček, Tomáš ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Mandák, Bohumil (referee) ; Lacina, Jan (referee)
Resumé The aim of this thesis is to summarize actual results of the field research of invasive neophytes' occurrence in the riverbank vegetation of selected water courses in the Czech Republic. In total approximately 850 km of the riverbank vegetation was mapped using author's own method. The riverbank vegetation was defined according to Novak et al. (1986) as the vegetation belt along a water course with boundaries represented by the water surface and the riverbank edge. The occurence of 22 most important invasive neophytes (sensu Pyšek et al. 2002) was registered using a logarithmical scale (1 = 1-9 specimen, 2 = 10-99 specimen, 3 = 100-999 specimen etc.). Some related species were not recognized (following species were aggregated together: Galinsoga parviflora and G. ciliata; Solidago gigantea and S. canadensis; Parthenocissus quinquefolia a P. inserta and Reynoutria japonica, R. sachalinensis and R. × bohemica). In total, occurence of 17 taxons was registered. The field research was conducted during the summer period of 2006, 2007 or 2008. Development in the years 2006 and 2008 could be compared for 218 segments, that was mapped in both time relations. The occurrence of invasive neophytes (17 taxons) was registered for each of the 500 m long segments (in total 1693 segments was mapped). The number of...
Landscape typology of the Czech republic
Romportl, Dušan ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kolejka, Jaromír (referee) ; Hrnčiarová, Tatiana (referee)
29 number of framework was set expertly. The next step affected by author of classification is the choice of training objects. For each of the classes 5 objects were considered that cover the range of variability of natural conditions. However, their selection was also a affected by author's choice. Verification and comparison of the results of object-oriented analysis with traditional methods of pixel-based classification showed differences in the of classification methods. In the case of object- oriented analysis spectral information are evaluated for the whole object. The highly heterogeneous objects such information may be averaged out and the object is thus classified as atypical representative of a certain class. Pixel classification methods, however, assess the quality of each pixel of the raster, so that any heterogeneous objects are divided into several classes. Using the results of the supervised classification the accuracy of object-oriented classification has been confirmed, considering a few exceptions. 4.1 THEORETICAL ISSUES Serious question of developing comprehensive landscape typology is the purpose and reason for such action. Pedroli et al. (2006) points to a general demand for accurate, highly detailed and high quality representative spatial information on the status and development of...
