Changing view on future population development of the Republic of Kazakhstan according to the United Nations World Population Prospects since the 1992 till the 2008 revision Abstract The objective of this study is to analyze changing view on future population development and to assess the reliability of the forecast results produced for Kazakhstan by the United Nations World Population Prospects since the 1992 revision with the respect to population development components: fertility, mortality, migration and by principal results: total population, age and sex structure and by some other demographic indicators. In the first part, the United Nations forecasting methodology and its applicability to the Kazakhstan population development, basic conceptual framework and its use are being explored. Analysis of the main forecast results is in the second part; nevertheless the fact that some findings based on these results support the general view on the population development by the United Nations World Population Prospects, some other findings are impugned. The role of migration in development of population structure in South Kazakhstan region

The given master's thesis is devoted to the research of migration role in the demographic development of the population structure of South Kazakhstan region in the period from 1999 to 2008. The region differs from other regions by a relatively high birth rate a low death rate and a high migratory exchange, both in an internal migration and in interregional migration. On the one hand, South Kazakhstan region is a donor for other regions in the country, and, on the other hand, is a recipient in international migration. On this basis the research considers migration role in the change of the total number of the population, and also in the changes of sex-age structures of the population which is exposed to changes owing to migration. The urgency and importance of the given research consists in considering the role of migration in changes of the population of the region. While considering the general changes, which migration makes in population structure, the streams of migration were divided into international and interregional migration. That's why this research shows the level of the influence of international and interregional migration on changes of the population structure. Mortality development in Central Asian countries in 1986-2006

Mortality development in Central Asian countries in 1986-2006 Abstract Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were more or less comparable in terms of their socioeconomic development. Despite some differences in overall mortality levels, the five former Soviet republics were also very close to each other in terms of directions of mortality trends by age, and cause-specific mortality patterns. After 1991, all the five countries experienced substantial political and social transformations, and the challenges associated with the transition from a socialist to a market economy system. The sudden changes brought numerous problems, such as rapid growth in unemployment, falling standards of living, and growing social and income inequalities. These factors contributed to the significant deterioration of the health situation in all the countries, but the size and the nature of the mortality crisis was different. This work examines patterns of mortality across the Central Asian countries using data from the middle of 1980s until 2006 years. Based on these analyses we conclude that the emergence of high mortality during the 1990s has been accompanied by increase in circulatory and external causes of death.

Ethnic differentiation of fertility in Kazakhstan Abstract This paper examines ethnic differentials in fertility in Kazakhstan using data from the Statistical Agency of Kazakhstan from 1999 to 2006. The study focuses on four major ethnic groups including Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians and Uzbeks which account for 90% of the country's population. The paper lays emphasis on comparison and determination of differences in fertility trends among the chosen ethnic groups. In order to describe the main reasons of differences in fertility trends in greater detail, the author analyzed birth orders in fertility in the groups. At the same time, the paper presents ethnic structure of Kazakhstan's population and within each ethnicity it shows age structure which also determines fertility trends. (Geo)demographic factors of consumers' behaviour Abstract This master's thesis deals with the issue of consumers' behaviour on theoretical level with empirical measuring of customers' satisfaction related to the selected mobile operator. The object of survey is the consumer and the subject matter comprises his behaviour in consumption, resp. his behaviour after purchase. The aim of the analysis is to conduct a test of relations between variables, to search for statistically significant differences between average values assigned to the overall satisfaction among particular groups of consumers divided using (geo) demographic and social variables, to describe segments created with reference to the level of satisfaction and to define such factors, which contribute towards the resultant value of satisfaction declared by significant means. The data analysis is based on selection survey conducted in the year 2008, using the method of individual, and standardised, assisted questioning. The processing of data is implemented, one- or multi-dimensional statistics - testing of average values, dispersion analysis, correlation, regression and factor analyses. Kazakhstan: Mortality in european context (comparison with selected european countries and nationalities) Abstract The aim of this diploma thesis is to compare mortality rates in Kazakhstan with selected European countries. The first part discusses literature, available data sources and a list of indicators. The thesis deals with brief outline of history and development of ethnic composition in this Central Asian republic. Another section contains a comparison of the economic and social conditions in Kazakhstan with two selected European countries - the Czech Republic and Sweden. The thesis continues with comparison and development of the most important mortality indicators in the three above mentioned countries. The last chapter summarizes findings from the comparison of mortality backgrounds of three selected European minorities living in Kazakhstan (Germans, Russians and Ukrainians) with their country of origin. The analysis of above mentioned factors shows a clear gap in Kazakhstan levels of mortality in comparison with selected European countries. A Comparison of mortality of European minorities living in the territory of Kazakhstan with their countries of origin shows a big difference for German nationality, for Russians and Ukrainians the differences are minimal.
