Master Data Quality and Data Synchronization in FMCG
Tlučhoř, Tomáš ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This master thesis deals with a topic of master data quality at retailers and suppliers of fast moving consumer goods. The objective is to map a flow of product master data in FMCG supply chain and identify what is the cause bad quality of the data. Emphasis is placed on analyzing a listing process of new item at retailers. Global data synchronization represents one of the tools to increase efficiency of listing process and improve master data quality. Therefore another objective is to clarify the cause of low adoption of global data synchronization at Czech market. The thesis also suggests some measures leading to better master data quality in FMCG and expansion of global data synchronization in Czech Republic. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part defines several terms and explores supply chain operation and communication. It also covers theory of data quality and its governance. Practical part is focused on objectives of the thesis. Accomplishment of those objectives is based on results of a survey among FMCG suppliers and retailers in Czech Republic. The thesis contributes to enrichment of academic literature that does not focus on master data quality in FMCG and global data synchronization very much at the moment. Retailers and suppliers of FMCG can use the results of the thesis as an inspiration to improve the quality of their master data. A few methods of achieving better data quality are introduced. The thesis has been assigned by non-profit organization GS1 Czech Republic that can use the results as one of the supporting materials for development of next global data synchronization strategy.

Further, there is evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages and comparison of the Hadoop technologies. In the third part the survey of Big Data issue is published. I use tools of questionnaires and interviews for acquiring information from students and experts. Furthermore, it describes current trends, problems and offers solution from the field.
Web application using the Linked Open Data
Le Xuan, Dung ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of open data. The aim is to introduce to reader the currently very popular topic. Linking these data together gives us more advantages and opportuni-ties, however a large number of open data datasets are published in the format that cannot be linked together. Therefore, the author put great emphasis into his work on Linked Data. Emphasis is not placed only on the emergence, current status and future development, but also on the technical aspect. First, readers will be familiar with theoretical concepts, principles of Linked Open Data, expansion of open government data in the Czech Republic and abroad. In the next chapter, the author aimed at the data formats RDF, SPARQL language, etc. In the last section, the author introduce to readers the tools to work with Linked Open Data and design sample application using the Linked Open Data. The benefit of the whole work is a comprehensive view of the Linked Open Data both from a theoretical and from a practical part. The main goal is to provide to readers quality introduction to the issue.

The re-use of open government data
Hrabě, Jan ; Kučera, Jan (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to outline the principles of open government data ("OGD"), to create an insight into the issue of OGD re-use and its users, and to analyse the demand for OGD in the Czech Republic. This work has four objectives. The first is to perform a search for sources of information on the topic of OGD re-use in the Czech Republic and from abroad. The second is to perform a comparison of the level of availability and re-use in the countries mentioned. The third is to define areas of OGD re-use and groups of its users. The last objective is to analyse the de-mand for OGD among users in the Czech Republic. These goals will be achieved by analysing digital libraries and databases of scientific work and other electronic sources, by choosing indicators and areas of OGD re-use to be compared, by analysing the domestic, as well as foreign information sources on the topic of OGD users and areas of re-use and finally by conducting the research of the demand for OGD among Czech users using a questionnaire. The contribution of this work is a summary of different information sources regarding the OGD issue and including an evaluation of information found, assessing a position of the Czech Republic compared with Great Britain and Slovakia, then the synthesis of the areas of OGD re-use and creating groups of its users, and the main objective in this thesis to execute the primary OGD demand research.
Use of tablets during study at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics of the University of Economics in Prague
Friedmann, Michael ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This bachelor's degree thesis describes the possibilities of using tablets by students in specifically selected compulsory and elective courses within the branch of study Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics, University of Economics, Prague. The thesis contains, inter alia, information about what's tablet, what are the types of tablets and operating systems running on them, what are the possible accessories and their general possibilities of use in the study. The current state of the division of the tablet market, representation of different operating systems and the possibility of including the tablet in the school environment and connection to school infrastructure are also described. The main part deals with a thorough analysis of the software used in the selected courses and focuses then on finding suitable alternatives, if any, which can be run on any tablet with one of operating systems - iOS, Android and Windows. In the conclusion, the use of tablets is evaluated vis-a-vis the study of selected courses within the branch of study Applied Informatics, including recommendations for changes in these courses. At the same time the best operating system for the study of selected subjects is recommended.
The Benefits and Risks of Deployment of Open Data in Public Administration
Smrž, Jiří ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis focuses on potential benefits and risks of open data in public sector. The aim of this work is to analyze the benefits and risks, and based on them create a procedure to quantify the benefits of open data in public sector. The work is divided into four main parts. The first deals with basic terminology a reader interested in open data problematics needs to know. The second part is devoted to performing an analysis of the examined studies. Based on the conducted analysis, the particular approaches and risks are then divided into individual groups. The third part examines current approaches to determining the value of open data. I deal in more detail with BOUDICA model in this section. In the last part an approach to quantification of the benefits and risks of open data in public sector is proposed. For this I use the results obtained from the analysis of the examined studies. A part of this proposal is also a determination of recommendations that are necessary to quantify the benefits and risks of open data in public sector according to this method. The main asset of this work lies in a proposal of a potential method to quantify the benefits and risks of open data in public sector. Analysis of the benefits and risks of open data in public sector and listing many practical examples are partial benefits of this thesis.
Applications build on open and linked data
Tran, Dac Ha ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This bachelor project is about the applications build on open and linked data. It is divided into four parts. In the first introductory part I will set the goals of the project and explain basic terms. In the second part I will introduce four existing applications, identify their po-tential benefits and possible risks for government institutions, companies as well as for common citizens. I will be selecting from the applications which have participated in the competiton "Společně otevíráme data" for the best application build on open and linked data by the Otakar Motejl fund. In the third part I will design ten of my own assignments of the application build on open data. I will describe their funcionality, set the target group and identify their potential bene-fits and risks. In the end of the third part I will evaluate the benefits and risks of my desig-ned applications using the range evaluation. In the last fourth part I will set the criterias for evaluating the applications. Afterwards I will send my designed applications to five experts for points evaluation. Finally I will cre-ate a table with applications ordered by gained points.
