Pharmacological possibilities for amending renal dysfunction in experimental model of heart failure
Krátký, Vojtěch ; Charvátová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Bednářová, Vladimíra (referee) ; Melenovský, Vojtěch (referee)
Mechanisms underlying the development of renal dysfunction and pharmacological possibilities for its amending in patients with chronic heart failure are still incompletely understood. The aim of the study was thus to compare the effect of treatment with an ACE inhibitor (ACEi), AT1 receptor blocker (ARB) or combined angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNi) on renal hemodynamic and excretory functions in experimental models of heart failure induced by placing an aorto-caval fistula (ACF) in combination with hypertension or preexisting renal disease. In normotensive and especially in hypertensive rats with high- output heart failure 20 weeks after ACF placement, ARB administration, dissimilarly to an ACEi treatment, was shown to prevent renal hypoperfusion and hypoxia. In addition, heart failure rats treated with ARB exhibited lower ROS generation, improved renal NO bioavailability, and normal renal SNS activity. The failure of ACEi to ameliorate renal hypoperfusion in rats with heart failure may be a consequence of insufficiently suppressed intrarenal RAS along with enhanced renal SNS activity in the face of depleted compensatory mechanisms, namely NO. Combined ARNi treatment in rats with induced heart failure superimposed on progressive renal dysfunction significantly improved survival...
Drum and Bass Connect us: the Characteristics of Drum and Bass Listeners Related to this Genre
Krátký, Vojtěch ; Oravcová, Anna (advisor) ; Mitrenga, David (referee)
(in English) This bachelor's degree focuses on the characteristics of listeners of the music genre Drum and Bass (DnB). The main method of research were semi-structured interviews with respondents in the form of qualitative research and participant observation. The respondents are long-term DnB listeners, the participant observation took place in clubs and festivals focusing on Drum and Bass throughout 2018. Drum and Bass is originally a British music genre that has existed in the Czech Republic for many years now. This bachelor's degree focuses mainly on the long-term listeners perception of Drum and Bass, the role Drum and Bass has in their personal and social lives, the relationships they have with other listeners and the transformation of this genre during their active research. The listeners are a diverse group that do not form a subculture, but do share similar characteristics and views about contemporary Drum and Bass and are also interested in actively engaging in DnB as DJ's.
Attitudes of high school students towards the use and users of marijuana and alcohol
Krátký, Vojtěch ; Nekola, Martin (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
This thesis deals with the attitudes of students of two secondary schools to marihuana, alcohol use and their users. Attitudes to alcohol, marihuana and to their users are topics frequently discussed in connection with changing perception of these two substances. This trend can be best seen in adolescents during the period of late adolescence which is the period of secondary school studies. The main aim of the thesis is to find out which factors influence the attitudes of students to alcohol and drug use and if there are any differences concerning those factors between the observed schools. These factors come from theoretical considerations which are subsequently tested in research. As the research showed, the students' attitudes to marihuana and alcohol use, and also to alcohol users are primarily influenced by significant others, among which belong mainly peers and their parents or their own experience. While the individuals form their attitudes to alcohol primarily according to their parents, in case of marihuana, the individuals, who have experience with it, follow mainly their peers and their own experience. Those individuals also tend to be more positive towards other marihuana users. There have not been found out any significant differences concerning the attitudes to marihuana and alcohol...
