Hložánková, Lucie ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Kozmanová, Irena (referee)
This diploma thesis is analysing society in the United Kingdom during the '60s. The United Kingdom today is seen as multicultural society with open and positive approach to immigrants from all different parts of the World. The first wave of immigrants arrived right after the WWII. These first immigrants were coming to the United Kingdom from all parts of the British Empire. Mainly from India, Pakistan and Caribbean. The situation changed during the '60s. Despite the fact that number of the immigrants was not too high, the new laws were introduced to stop immigration from non-European countries. My initial hypothesis: In the post war period the UK impeded the free immigration to the country. How the United Kingdom treated the immigrants during the '60s? What was the proportion of immigrants of the total population? I would like to lay emphasis on the analysis of the government steps, the responsible ministries and mood changes in the society. One chapter is devoted to the analysis of the situation in London. Which is an exceptional area with a high number of immigrants. The situation in the UK will be a part of comparison with selected countries of Western Europe. This is to show the difference between the British approach during the period. The aim of this thesis is to look for the reasons why the United Kingdom applied a different approach to immigrants compare to Western Europe during the '60s and to highlight the main aspects of the changes in attitudes towards immigrants.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of using the advertisement by companies on the example of the Baťa company in the postwar Czechoslovakia. At the beginning, I am investigating what was the relation of the state to advertisement, how strict a government policy was and what was the concenquences of that for companies. I focused on regulation changes during the mentioned period and how legal processes had been treated on that bases. In the next part, on the example of the Baťa company, I am analysing how important was the advertisment for the company, especially a process of making an advertising. Who worked in it and what advertising instrumets and strategies had been used. I am also examining the role of an advertisment in the process of dealing with crisis after World War I, the global economic crisis and the competition. The last part is focused on a costumer attitude towards advertising, which affacted the form and the content, mechanisms of targeting advertisement and feedback collection. The bachelor thesis is based on the hypothesis that the advertising was one of the key success factors of the Bata company and its company strategy, pretty much due to oversea inspiration. Simultaneously with all parts I am presenting the comparism with the USA, which was the country inspiring Tomas Bata.

Vítková, Eva ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Kozmanová, Irena (referee)
This diploma thesis examines whether and how does the Czech educational system respond to the growing cultural diversity of the Czech society. At the theoretical level, it defines the role of Education in a Multicultural society and within the implementation of Multicultural policy. The main part of the work consists of analysis of schoolbooks for the subjects History, Civics and Literature. Insitutional pespective, analysis of school curriculum and a case study focusing on faculties of Pedagogy are also considered. The thesis concludes that the concept of the Czech Educational system is monocultural and thus not responsive to the change of social reality. A few strategic and concrete steps deriving from the outcomes of the analysis and a comparative approach are presented. These steps should help to switch from a monocultural educational system to a multicultural one. The author argues that key changes need to be realized in the field of future teacher traning as well as in the area of schoolbooks, that are currently largely reproducing cultural stereotypes and that don't reflect culturally plural composition of the society.
