Spread spectrum modulator
Lejsková, Alena ; Kováč, Michal (referee) ; Maršálek, Roman (advisor)
This thesis deals with a method of spectrum-spreading of the data signals transmitted in the radio channel. There exist three different ways of spreading application, they uses pseudorandom sequences and also orthogonal sequences. In these systems we can find various kinds of modulations, one of them (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) is shown at the end of the thesis. Spectrum spreading orthogonal multiplex OFDM is based on this method. The thesis wants to present the principle of the spectrum spreading method and the description of systems, transmitters and receivers that are using this method.
Fading channel hardware simulator
Pirochta, Pavel ; Kováč, Michal (referee) ; Maršálek, Roman (advisor)
Fading channel is a communication channel that experiences different interference and fading due to multi-path signal propagation. The fading channel is designed by the finite impulse response filter with the time-varying impulse characteristic. The realisation of this filtr is based on the TDL (Tapped Delay Line) model, which simulate signal delay and signal attenuation in each branch. The aim of this thesis is to create the VHDL design of selected fading channel simulator and its description for hardware implementation into the FPGA.
Thermal sensors communication with CPLD using SMBUS
Tonar, Karel ; Rumánek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kováč, Michal (advisor)
The goal of bachelor’s thesis is the introduction with two - wire circuit communication on the SMBUS, it is concretely related to alternate communication of FPGA with thermal sensors. The bachelor’s thesis also contains the choice of optimal thermal sensor, the proposal of module for measuring the temperature and proposal of programme for Programmable Logical Device. The programme processes data from the modules of temperature measurement and data are indicate on LED display. The programme makes it possible to display minimum, maximum and average temperature during certain time interval. All of programmes are implemented for logical device in VDHL language. The thermometer sends data to Personal Computer over UART interface. There is temperature displayed and storaged once again. During working on this bachelor’s thesis was used SPARTAN-3 starter board and design system Xilinx ISE 9.2i.
IEEE802.15.4 and ZigBee technologies, examples of applications
Skládaný, Vojtěch ; Frýza, Tomáš (referee) ; Kováč, Michal (advisor)
The main goals of diploma thesis are application and realization of tool for projection and installation wireless networks according to IEEE802.15.4. The thesis is specialized in construction of transmitter and receiver device in term of mobility and visualization of data measured in terrain. Than the software support for measuring and control appropriate periphery are summarised and described. The system is defined in C programming language and uses OpenMAC library. Last part of thesis is focus on practical measurement and testing tool for projection and installation wireless network.
System for Serial Communication Monitoring
Perný, Jan ; Kováč, Michal (referee) ; Kolouch, Jaromír (advisor)
There is a need for a serial communication testing tool when software or hardware developers have to solve serial communication problems. This tool must accurately catch and record the whole communication. Some type of timestamps in the record is necessary for future analysis. This diploma thesis deals with programming a serial communication monitoring equipment software with the possibility of the insertion of timestamps. Possible timestamps types and inserting methods are also discussed. The programmed monitoring software for the FOX Board hardware platform is able to catch and record the serial communication at RS232 ports and add timestamps to the record in accordance to three independent rules. The record is saved to a standard USB flash drive.
FPGA core for data displaying on computer monitor using VGA port
Pišl, Adam ; Kováč, Michal (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
The aim of this project is to perform the study of a driver for controlling computer monitor using VGA port. The driver is based on FPGA which is used to generate VGA signals. The main purpose of the project is to design a hardware core for gate array which can be used as part of some complex FPGA design to provide a comfortable user interface. The project describes the main part of the VGA driver – module for generating control signals and module for displaying text information that is sent from a PC via serial port interface.
Business plan
Kováč, Michal ; Mikan, Pavel (advisor) ; Vávrová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor´s thesis processes the business plan of a specific company, and it is supposed to serve as a basis for the eventual foundation of said company. The company itself can be classified into the service sector of the economy, based on operating a restaurant business by day and music club business by night. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes the structure and the individual parts of the business plan, and describes the various types of businesses in Czech Republic. The practical part describes a specific business plan of a company named 300, including a financial plan for the first year.
Technical analysis of exchange rate of developed versus developing country and its extension by fundamental factors
Novák, Michal ; Šíma, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kováč, Michal (referee)
Bachelor thesis aims on the use of technical´s analysis elementary methods for exchange rate prediction in a very long term based on the level of development of the economy. It simulates an investment in canadian dollar and mexican peso using technical analysis. In another part the thesis discusses use of some fundamental indicators. It concludes that technical analysis might be used for exchange rate prediction in the long term, while it is better not to focus on one method only. Technical analysis could neither predict nor correctly react to mexican monetary crisis, therefore it is appropriate to take fundamental indicators into account. Simulation´s results are relatively low but stable earnings for developed economy and significant loses and earnings for developing economy depending on the chosen method.
Managing risks in international securities portfolios
Folprecht, Marek ; Brada, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kováč, Michal (referee)
The bachelor´s thesis examines the gains from hedging the currency exposure from the perspectives of American and Canadian investors. It is shown that exchange rate risk is a largely nondiversifiable factor which might negatively affect the performance of equity portfolios. Therefore, it is necassary to effectively control the exchange rate risk. It is found that the effect of currency risk on total portfolio risk varies among different currency pairs depending predominantly on the correlation between equity and currency returns. For this reason, it is essential to choose a different approach for each currency pair. The hedging strategy, which is refered to as optimal currency hedging, aims at minimizing the volatility of currency hedged portfolio returns. The optimal hedge ratios for individual currencies are also estimated. Over the period from 2004 to 2015, hedging the currency exposure considerably reduced the volatility of returns in the case of American investor. From the perspective of Canadian investor, hedging the currency risk reduced the volatility of returns only to a limited degree. The reason is that Canadian dollar behaves in a pro-cyclical fashion, strenghtening when the world economy surges and weakening when the economy turns down. Therefore, foreign currency exposure tend to reduce the volatility of portfolio returns from the perspective of Canadian investor.
