The Basics of the Theory and Practice of Managerial Calculations

The dissertation focuses on the explanation of the mutual link between science and art in managerial calculations. For this purpose the dissertation explains and comments on the most utilized fragments of both of the components in its theoretical part, to which it refers in the practical part. It deals with the analysis of the managerial styles of thinking during the process of learning, with methodological approaches used in teaching the art to solve problems and discusses the differences of exact and empirical approaches that relate to the differentiation of what the theory claims and the praxes does. The tools stand in for the technical side of managerial calculations that derive from the more general systems of rational conceptions. The practical part goes in for solving the selected case studies, where the link between the science and the art is clearly demonstrated.

Free Software and the Possibilities of its Application in Teaching at the Faculty of Management of Prague School of Economics

The bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of using free software (and very closely related open source) in academic environment. At first, it explains the term itself and principles. It slightly affects the motivation factor, which goes along with this specific model of software development and also gives an overview of the subjects, which are involved in it. Then it focuses on key legal issues, including types of licenses. A summary of the pros and cons is included as well. The main part is the concrete offer and characteristics of programs divided into groups according to the focus. At the end the thesis introduces with the examples of use in practice.

Import of goods to European Union with focus on seaborne container transport

The diploma thesis describes seaborne transport of goods in general, and furthermore specifies the current dilemma of existing cartels - conferences - in this industry. I also describe containerization, general situation on container transport market with a hint of latest information about this market. Next chapter describes legislative rules of European Union that shape import of goods to Union. As it was not possible to describe all of them, I concentrate only on those rules involving import of containers. The goal of researching EU import legislation was to familiriaze myself with all activities and information, which an importer must take care of and possess, before he gets in touch with a shipping carrier about the transport itself. I managed to mention the most basic and important points, which importers of goods must apply.

Maritime transport between the European Union and the United Mexican States

Práce charakterizuje a analyzuje námořní přepravu mezi Evropskou unií a Mexikem. Důraz je kladen na liniovou námořní přepravu kontejnerů na trase mezi přístavy Progreso a Rotterdam s návaznou vnitrozemskou přepravou do České republiky. Stručně jsou také popsány mezinárodní instituce v oblasti námořní přepravy. Dále je charakterizována společnost A. P. Moller Maersk a její organizační složky. Aplikační část se zaměřuje na dovoz nákladu z přístavu Progreso do České republiky.
