The phase behaviour of lipidic models of stratum corneum

From the 50s to the 70s it has been shown that the human skin barrier primarily is located at the extracellular lipid matrix of stratum corneum. The barrier capacity is a function of the physical state and structural organization of extracellular lipid matrix. The lipid matrix is essentially composed of very long chain saturated ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids. Since then several models for the structure and function of the mammalien skin barrier have been proposed, but some main unsolved problems with respect to lipid organization still exit. Whether the extracellular lipid matrix is constituted by single gel-phase or if there is a coexistence of several crystalline (solid) and gel-phases, whether a separate fluid phase is present? Such a theoretical model may provide for a rational design of experimental studies on skin diseases, skin permeability, topical drug administration, skin protection, etc. In this work we are using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to analyse the thermotropic phase behavior of cholesterol, synthetic ceramid and in vitro prepared mixtures composed of cholesterol, synthetic ceramid and oleic acid. Termální analýza interakcí epidermálních lipidů Ι Veronika Kafková, diplomová práce, červen 2007 Abstrakt Fyziologickou funkcí kůže je chránit organismus proti vnějším vlivům prostředí. Stratum corneum (rohová vrstva) je nejsvrchnější vrstvou kůže a je zodpovědná za její bariérovou funkci. Podstatou chování rohové vrstvy je její jedinečné chemické složení a uspořádání jednotlivých složek. Rohová vrstva je tvořená plochými, do sebe zapadajícími buňkami vyplněnými keratinem (korneocyty) a intercelulární lipidovou matrix. Hlavními složkami lipidové matrix jsou ceramidy (50%), mastné kyseliny (10%) a cholesterol (25%). Cílem této diplomové práce je experimentální ověření možnosti využití diferenční skenovací kalorimetrie (DSC), jako vhodné a sensitivní metody pro měření in vitro směsí lipidů obsažených ve stratum corneum. Změřili jsme a vyhodnotili DSC záznamy vzorků mastných kyselin (kyseliny olejové, linolové, myristové, palmitové) a cholesterolu, směsí mastné kyseliny a cholesterolu (1:1,m/m), dvousložkových směsí kyseliny olejové a cholesterolu (v poměrech od 1:9 do 9:1) a směsí kyseliny olejové, cholesterolu a vody. Egyptian Revolution of the 21.century and for a long time Awaited Fall of Authoritarian Regime of Hosni Mubarak

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the Egyptian revolution from the beginning of the year 2011. The main goal is to find out the key consequences having led to the outbreak. At the end, the sequence of events during the revolution and the country's development since President Hosni Mubarak's resignation will be shortly described. That will be followed by a brief summary of presidential and parliamentary elections. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one summarizes the economic and political aspects until the end of the 1990s, as well as discusses the topic of extremism and state repression. The second part focuses on the 21st century and it also briefly examines the state economics. The political situation will be enriched by the establishment of new political entities. All will lead to the question of human rights, to the revolution and to the time of Egypt in transition. Parent's Motives for Postponing Child's Compulsory School Attandance

In my Master Thesis, I am dealing with the issue of posponing child's school attendance with a special regard to the motives of parents leading to suspension. The Thesis is bothe theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is mapping the theme of suspended school attendance and socio-pedagogical aspects related to the decision making process leading to suspension. The empirical part offers selected examples of parents' motivation apllying for postponing of their child's education. My research is based on interview and questionnaire. I used available Czech materials as a source of expert information and I draw from the experience of my empirical research in the last chapter.

The offer of investment products for individual clients in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with investment products for individual clients which are provided by the banks in the Czech Republic. Given that banking is becoming ever more competitive, for banks is very important to tailor investment services to the needs of their clients. The main aim is to compare the offer of investment products in three chosen banks in the Czech market which are Československá obchodní banka, a. s., UniCredit Bank, a. s. and GE Money Bank, a. s. There are examined differences in investment banking services like a number of offered investment products, banking charges and used processes. According to gained knowledge of banking offers a suitable model portfolio for four clients with a different types of investment profile are created. The model situations are distributed based on the client's relation to the guaranteed yield to maturity and to the risk, previous experience with investing or the amount of free funds, which the client wants to evaluate.
