Preparation of the Czech Republic for the Entry to the Schengen Area
Křivánková, Andrea ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (advisor) ; Weiss, Tomáš (referee)
Bachelor thesis titled Preparations of the Czech Republic for the entry into the Schengen area is mapping stage of preparations before the Czech Republic's entry into the Schengen area. This phase is divided into period before the Czech Republic's entry into the European Union, where the Czech Republic had to make necessary within the institutional and legislative changes that were simultaneously the conditions for the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union, and the period after the Czech Republic's entry into the European Union, when the Czech homeland security authorities and other government bodies set up the common Schengen standards into their daily practice. By analyzing selected documents the bachelor thesis then monitors the behavior of main players in the Czech political scene (ODS, CSSD, Ministry of Interior) before entering the Schengen area and answers the question of how these actors perceived and explained the main motivation for entering the Czech Republic into the Schengen area. As a theoretical basis are two different theoretical approaches to European integration: neofunkcionalism and intergovernmentalism. The behavior of the players of the Czech political scene before the entry into the Schengen area is subsequently assigned to one of the defined theoretical approaches.
