Shared custody and its influence on a child's success in primary school

This diploma thesis deals with the problem of shared custody of children at primary school in relation to their school success. The issue is viewed from the perspective of primary school teachers and from the perspective of a school psychologist. The theoretical part deals with a child at primary school and also with child, who has special educational needs. It also deals with family, parental responsibility, discusses divorce, shared custody, school success and failure. The empirical part, through empirical research, aims to answer the question: "How does shared custody affect the school success of a child at primary school?"It examines the manifestations of children in shared custody, it looks for specific causes of problems of these children or specific factors ensuring smooth course of shared custody. It collects recommendations from teachers and school psychologist on how to work with and help these children. It also provides recommendations on who to work with and how - including cooperation with parents. It shows the level of teachers' awareness of this issue and their personal views on the issue. The cooperative teaching at a little class school

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of application of the model of cooperative teaching in the environment of small schools. The main goal of the diploma thesis is to point out the specifics of small schools in connection with the application of the principles of cooperative teaching. The theoretical part deals with the explanation of basic concepts related to small schools and points out the basic aspects related to the concept of small schools in the Czech Republic, describes the specific qualities of education in small schools while focusing on cooperative teaching and the specifics of cooperative teaching in small schools. Both available monographs and researches that have already been carried out in this area are used. The aim of the empirical part is to identify and describe the application of cooperative teaching in small-class primary schools in the Central Bohemian Region with the help of a questionnaire survey and a case study. Effective communication of primary school teachers with parents

This thesis addresses the difficulties in communication between teachers and parents. Its' goal is to point out the effective communication strategies used by experienced educators during their conversations with parents of elementary school children. In the theoretical part of the thesis, it focuses on communication and its' forms, on explanation of the school/family relationship with regards to expectations of both sides, and on parent typology. It also describes conversational structure and organization, and states the basics of effective communication through dialogue alongside the rules of successful conversation between a teacher and a parent. The research in the empirical part of the thesis had been carried out in a form of a qualitative dialogue with four experienced educators. The amassed data was later processed, analyzed and evaluated in comparison with scientific literature. The results of the research have the form of answers to the predesigned questions and these answers accurately display basic strategies of effective communication, which had shown repeated success for their users, the teachers. Social climate at a classroom

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of social-emotional climate in the elementary school class whose pupil is a child with special educational needs. The theoretical part focuses on the development of relationships among the people who influence the classroom climate and on creating a favourable classroom climate with all its positive features. It discusses disruptions of the classroom climate by a pupil with special educational needs and thus also the related competencies of the teacher in charge of the classroom climate and possible ways of diagnosis, intervention and support options. In the practical part, ten teachers from two selected elementary schools provide their insight on the degree of influence the pupils with special educational needs who attend their class have on the classroom climate. Meetings with seniors as an opportunity to teach younger pupils

This Master Thesis deals with the problematics of meeting younger pupils with seniors. The theoretical part of this thesis is generally about intergenerational learning, as well about intergenerational learning in different environments and other connections. I am looking for an answer to the question of whether it is attractive for teachers organize meetings of pupils with seniors in their teaching, under what conditions they do so, what prevents teachers from organizing intergenerational learning if they do not. It also deals with the current changes in families and the importance of intergenerational meetings. Practical part of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is pre-research, based on that we learn topicality of the topic. The main goal of the thesis, which based on a questionnaire construction, is to know if teachers think that meeting of pupils and pensioners during classes is helpful for pupils. Partial goals are to find advantages and disadvantages of those meetings and possibile examples from practice. All the partial goals are accomplished. Primary school teacher in an excluded location

The work of teacher in excluded localities with Romany pupils is demanding, it requires a high degree of resilience, adaptability, perseverance and resilience. Children growing up in an environment of social exclusion have acquired values, habits and behavior patterns that make it more difficult for them to integrate into the school environment. A teacher from an excluded location should understand the acting and behavior of Romany pupils and help these pupils to successfully master the educational process. The aim of my work is to find out the specifics of the teacher's work in the excluded locality. The qualitatively oriented research is focused on the problems, that teachers face from Roman pupils in their education in excluded localities, their opinions on the education of Romany pupils and on their motivation to educate these pupils in an excluded location. Data are obtained using semi-structured interviews with teachers from excluded localities. The conclusion of my work is a discussion of the research results, where the information from the professional literature is compared with my personal experience and the respondents' testimonies. Use of social studies textbooks by primary school teachers

The diploma thesis deals with the textbooks used by teachers of national history and geography. Most of the teachers included in my research sample use textbooks mainly for preparation of their lessons, which corresponds with the researches in the Czech Republic presented in the theoretical part of this thesis. As a complementary material used for lesson planning they use the Internet. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The findings of the research and the recommendations of the professional literature related to the issue of teacher's choice of curriculum and to the role of textbooks are discussed. The research related to the lesson planning, teaching methods and types of planning for the lesson is analysed and a special attention is given to the usage of various recourses e.g. encyclopaedias and educational software used for lesson planning. One chapter deals with the theory of textbooks and with the research related to their evaluation. The last chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the concept of lesson planning in the Czech Republic and the potential of textbooks usage for teaching of given subject. Teachers' use of textbooks of social studies and sciences at primary schools

The diploma thesis attends to the primary school teachers' work with textbooks dedicated to the educational field Človek a jeho svět (̔Human and his world̕). In the theoretical part I deal with a clarification of basic terminology, which is crucial for the thesis' theme. I define here terms teacher and educational staff not only how it is understood by the specialized literature, but also by the laws in force of the Czech Republic. In the next chapter, a textbook is defined and its functions and the most cited classifications of textbooks' functions. are introduced. I mention its structural components and introduce further didactic tools that we encounter in practice. In the most extensive chapter of the theoretical part of the thesis I present existing theoretical findings and results of researches, which were in the field of textbooks' usage realized up to now, both in the Czech Republic and the world. Inclusive environment of a primary school class including teachers assistant

This diploma thesis deals with the development of the school climate in a classroom with a seriously physically disabled child who requires permanent presence of an assistant. The theoretical part focuses on physical disabilities and their impact on the psyche of the child, the specifics of including a seriously disabled child in educational instructional contexts and the life of the classroom, and on the cooperation between a form teacher and an assistant whose support and help is required by the child during all lessons. The practical part uses a narrative of two girls and people who are closely related to them to offer answers to the inquiries into how have relationships within such a classroom and the attitude of classmates to a disabled child changed over the years; how can the presence of an assistant affect the climate of the classroom; and whether the external perception of the inclusion of a disabled child as a successful one corresponds with the feelings of the disabled child, of if the child sees the process otherwise.
