Secularisation. Comparision of Czech and French case

This thesis Secularisation: Comparison of Czech and French Case deals with the phenomenon of secularisation in the area of modern European societies. Presenting approaches of different sociologists of religion it acquaints with historical conditions of secularisation, explains the secularisation thesis and its actual validity. Then it focuses on secularisation in the Czech Republic and in France. In the case of the Czech Republic it mostly deals with aspects of the Czech religiosity. It examines its probable historical causes and presents its actual manifestations. First of all it emphasizes the mistrust of the Czech society of the institutionalized religiosity, the popularity of the alternative religiosity, explains the concept of the "Czech atheism" and shows several particular characteristics of the religious behaviour of the Czech people. In the case of France it describes the way to the unique form of secularity born in the French milieu so called laïcité on the basis of a complicated historical process. It describes its gradual assertion, its actual form and its confrontation with the current development of the society. Content-Based Searching for Similar CT Scans

The work deals with the design and implementation of tool for Content-Based Searching for similar CT scans. This work also deals with comparision of individual methods for searching for similar CT scans. Third-party libraries are used to extract individual descriptors. Furthermore, this work presents results of the implemented searching tool and also presents results of the comparision of individual methods for Content-Based Searching for similar CT scans and suggests possible improvements.

Tzava'at Ha-RIBaSH ve-hanhagot yesharot: The Influence of Non-Lurianic Kabbalah on East-European Hasidism of Modern Age Mgr. Antonín Šedivý This dissertation thesis consists of Introduction, three chapters, and Conclusion. Furthermore, it includes name index, list of traditional Jewish sources used in the second chapter, list of sources, literature and other relevant resources, and four supplements. The Introduction of this dissertation deals with several issues important for its research. First of all, the East-European Hasidism is introduced, then follows very thorough overview of current state of knowledge of Tzava'at Ha-RIBaSH ve-hanhagot yesharot, and the definition of goals, hypothesis, and methods of this dissertation, and finally, it also contains technical notes about the dissertation thesis. The first chapter "Tzava'at Ha-RIBaSH ve-hanhagot yesharot" is devoted solely to Tzava'at Ha-RIBaSH, which is the central point of my dissertation. It is divided into chapters that are dedicated to fundamental information about Tzava'at Ha-RIBaSH, to its content, to its place within Hasidic literary collection, and to its reflexion by the opponents of Hasidism. Religion in the USSR - Religious and Confessional Groups in RSFSR and USSR (1918 - 1991)

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to examine the relationship between church and state in the USSR at various times. This work contains an introduction, the main part, which consists of six chapters, a conclusion and a list of literature. The thesis points out how the attitude of the Soviet government to religious groups changed from the beginning of the revolution in 1917 to the collapse of the USSR in 1991. The first chapter of the thesis deals with the Church during the first years of the Soviet government. The second chapter focuses on the repression of 30 years. Then the thesis explores the Second World War, the Khrushchev government, and at the end, it reaches the perestroika period. Special attention is paid to Orthodoxy, Patriarch Tikhon, other religious persons, atheistic education of the population and propaganda of atheism in the USSR. Other religions and confessional groups such as Buddhism and Islam are mentioned only marginally. Russian literary sources were used during this work.

Removal of a Known Signal from a Recording

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to design and implement method for removing known signal from recorded sound. The introductory part of the thesis summarizes the theory of sound properties, basics of signal processing, and system identification. Subsequently, the data are presented and the way of testing is stated. Afterwards, the development of a method for removing a known signal from a recording is described. Finally, experiments are performed, which include a comparison of selected methods. The best methods achieved relatively good results and they were mostly able to remove the known signal sufficiently.

The Influence of European Reform Judaism on American Reform Judaism in the 19th Century

Reform Judaism is based precisely on the intellectual heritage of the Enlightenment (Haskalah) and its origins is dated back to the late 18th century. This movement was born in Germany, but the real boom and reform in the true sense of the word occurred in the first half of the 19th century in America with the arrival of European immigrants who brought with them new ideas influenced by European reform movement. The extraordinary success of the reform movement, that quickly spread across North America, resulted mainly from the religious tolerance. This dissertation deals with the issue of the impact of European Reform Judaism on American Reform Judaism in the 19th century in the context of cultural history, focusing on the characteristics, trying to describe different religious, ideological, political and socio- economic challenges affecting the Jewish community in the United States. Secularization as a provocation Christianity to the theological basis of the social theory of P. Berger and Ch. Taylor

This master thesis is focused on interpreting theological motives in the social theory of P. L. Berger and Ch. Taylor, particularly in relation to their interpretation of the concepts of secularization and secularity. The first objective of the thesis is to demonstrate whether these partial sociological concepts can be read as theologically conditioned. Consequently, to elucidate how the dependence of these concepts on their theological origins influences the explanation of the pertinence of Christianity in the contemporary world. The second aim of this thesis is to testify the inner connection between the ideas of both authors; in order to explain how and for what reason the concepts of secularization and secularity acquire the same or different expressions. This thesis is organized into four sections, the first section defines the framework of the secularization debate in which the topic of this work operates. The second and third sections provide an analysis of Berger and Taylor's sociological approach. The last section compares the concepts that prove to be essential for the interpretation of secularization and secularity in Berger and Taylor.

The Principles of the Interfaith Dialog in Standpoint of Husite Theology

This thesis focuses on the concept of interreligious dialogue from the perspective of Husite theology, maps the contemporary texts of the theologians of the Czechoslovak Church on the topic of non- Christian religions and the practical involvement of this church and its theological faculty in dialogical structures. Represents associations and movements engaged in interreligious dialogue in the Czech Republic. The probe into the theory and practice of interreligious dialogue worldwide and the review of authors dealing with, captures the expert reflection of the subject. The reflection of Husite theology emphasizes the key non-substantial concept of human personality and Christian dogma for the interreligious dialogue. The results of this reflection are formulated in five principles that may help overcome the contradiction between indifferent religious pluralism and apriori claim to the truth by revealing the existential nature of interreligious dialogue as opposed to substantive dogmatics, giving an occasion for discussion of the elementary nature of religion.

Then Who Can Be Saved? Three Affirmative Approaches to a Soteriological Universalism (Barth, Tillich, Rahner)

This bachelor thesis entitled "Then who can be saved?" deals with the approach of three important theologiansof the 20thcentury to soteriologicaluniversalism. The first chapter introduces inclusive passages of the New Testament and the old-church authors who are welcoming to the question of the salvation of all men. In the main part, the thesis deals with two protestant theologians Karl Barth and Paul Tillich and one theologian of the Roman Catholic Church Karl Rahner. The thesis briefly mentions their lives and works, and then deals with the description of their concepts and ideas that testify their openness to the issue of salvation offered far beyond the Christian churches. In their example, author wants to show the legitimacy of the topic in contemporary Christian thinking.
