Environmental Factors In the Pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
Horáková, Lucie ; Novák, Jan (advisor)
Type 1 diabetes mellitus is autoimmune disease that is due to the interaction of environmental factors with genetically susceptible terrain. The increasing incidence of T1DM in western countries suggests the existence of environmental factors responsible for the increasing incidence of the disease. The identification of this putative factor is crucial for the development of strategies to prevent type 1 diabetes mellitus. By the analysis of literature, we identified the susceptible factors such as infection (coxsackie virus or cognate rubeola), early exposition to the cow's milk toxins etc. There exist even opposite theories such as hygiene hypothesis suggesting that the development of T1DM might be a result of the lack of protective environmental factor. Available data do not allow to detect causal relation between any of susceptible factors and the development of T1DM and do not allow to develop any strategy to prevent type 1 diabetes mellitus

This thesis deals with the preparatory education of Geography teachers at the Faculty of Science of Charles University and looks at it from many perspectives. The basis is the content analysis of study plans which are also evaluated through interviews with former graduates, now teachers of Geography. Furthermore, representatives of academic community were interviewed in order to present the current state and vison of preparatory education of Geography teachers at the Faculty of Science of Charles University. The aim of the thesis is to make a comprehensive study of open dialogue between students, graduates and academic staff, in order to characterize the current education of Geography teachers and to evaluate the outcome.

Selected Immune Markers During Acute Myocardial Infarction
Horáková, Lucie ; Pudil, Radek (advisor) ; Moťovská, Zuzana (referee) ; Vítovec, Jiří (referee)
Acute myocardial infarction belongs currently to the most important diseases in the cardiology and the pathogenesis of the ischemic-reperfusion injury still remains an open question. The process of ischemia and reperfusion is complex, it involves a number of pathogenetic processes and activates number of systems among which the activation of immune system has the important place. In this study we have chosen some of the markers and followed their dynamics during the ischemia and reperfusion. We compared them with the standard markers of necrosis and we analysed possible relationship between these markers and the systolic dysfunction of the left ventricle. The aim of this study is to contribute to understanding of ischemia and reperfusion during acute myocardial infarction with the ST segment elevation. Moreover, further benefit of this study is pointing out the possibilities of new technologies in the determination of cardiac markers.
Vliv výživy na růstovou schopnost králíků
Horáková, Lucie
This bachelor thesis is focused on the impact of food on growth ability of rabbits. First part of the thesis is about history, evolution and domestification of domestic rabbit. At-tention is payed on rabbit’s anatomy, mainly its digestive system and physiology of diges-tion which is followed by digestion of nutrients. Next chapter is about suitable foods for rabbit’s nutrition and about right feeding technique. Experimental part is about research of two groups of rabbits with focus on influence of two different foods on weight gain of li-ve weight in different parts of rabbit’s life.

Horáková, Lucie ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Velková, Alice (referee)
Development of the population in the city of Brno in the period 1880-1910 Abstract The aim of this thesis is an analysis and description of population development in the city of Brno between 1880-1910, Demographic analysis was performed based on census data (1880, 1890, 1900 and 1910) and statistics of population movements (1881-1910). Basic demographic methods were used for this analysis. Thesis is divided into 6 chapters introducing socio-economic characteristics as well as demographic characteristics of population of Brno. Demographic revolution started during this time and the data collected show its impact on the studied population. The results of the analysis indicate a population growth mainly due to migration, and change in age structure that exhibit aging of the population. Activating programs as a way for spiritual development for erderly in a retirement home
HOŘÁKOVÁ, Lucie
The thesis deals with saturation of spiritual needs of elderly in residential houses through the perspective of activationists. After that is discussed the activity in elderly, not only in relation with the adaptation to ageing but also as a place of activation. At the last part of this chapter it´s question of residential houses and activationists. In the practical part there is an analysis and evaluation of approaches to the saturation of spiritual needs in activating programs of chosen activationists. The selection of responders represents different characteristics of residential houses in the Pilsen region. The different approaches to spiritual needs in the activating programmes are induced by the personal knowledge, experience and abilities of activationists.

Possibilities of utilization fiber-based and secondary easy-renewable raw sources in the production of lightweight building materials
Horáková, Lucie ; Sedlmajer, Martin (referee) ; Zach, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis dealt with the possibilities of of utilization fiber-based and secondary easy-renewable raw sources in the production of lightweight building materials. The theoretical part includes literature search of the researches, which dealt with this issue. Appropriate sources of fibers were selected within the theoretical part and the findings were used in the practical part of the thesis. Within the practical part laboratory measurements and subsequent selection of the most suitable fibers were performed. Laboratory measurements and subsequent selection of the most suitable fibers were performed in the practical part. Subsequently, designs of thermal insulating plasters (with the possibility of using as repairing plasters) were made on the basis of lightweight glass aggregate, to which the production of test specimens was connected. Laboratory tests were performed on fresh and hardened mortars and subsequently evaluated. In conclusion, an economic evaluation and assessment of the competitiveness of the proposed plasters was carried out.
Mediation analysis in statistics
Horáková, Lucie ; Hendl, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Petr (referee)
Diploma thesis "Mediation Analysis in Sociology" deals with mediation analysis and possibilities of its application in sociology, depending on the type of the dependent variable that enters the analysis. In the first case the dependent variable is continuous - in this case the SPSS software and its PROCESS add-on are used to directly analyse the mediation. In the second case the dependent variable that enters the analysis is binary - the PROCESS add-on doesn't allow this option; therefore, the analysis is performed in SPSS software by the set of linear and logistic regressions according to the Baron & Kenny method. Two case studies from the field of sociology, GSS (General Social Survey) and ISSP (International Social Survey Programme), are used in the thesis and the consequences of the transition from continuous dependent variable to binary are examined using the secondary analysis of these data.
