Gothic mural painting in castle chapels in Bohemia

This work is an investigation of Czech Gothic murals in castle chapels in Bohemia. The key for including of a mural to the catalogue was the founding date between early middle-ages up to the year 1526; end of the hegemony of the Jagellon dynasty amongst Bohemian Kingdom. The core of the work is a comprehensive catalogue of such murals. Included are 12 localities where these murals can be found, dating through 300 years of the middle-ages. Not included in this catalogue are the three well-documented sacral spaces in Karlštejn castle, although they also fit the time period in question. It must be acknowledged that the Karlštejn chapel murals are key elements in understanding this style and era, due to their quality and influential nature. This essay sought to isolate and explore any specific typology in this class of artwork. However, it must be stated that no such unique common character exists. The murals are more a reflection of the requirements and tastes of the individual patrons; they also express the fashion of their particular eras. There are also discrepancies in quality, which vary from century to century. Reception of theology of the icon in the western cultural context

In the first part of the thesis, the history of the icon origin and development is summarised, focusing on the history of the theological controversies of the iconoclastic disputes. The main topic of the thesis is the polemics with the assumptions of Leonid Uspensky (prominent representative of the icon theology), who used the icon theology to justify the superiority of the Eastern art, represented by icons over the western art. To find the reasons for the differences in the art developmnet in the East and the West, the historical and sociological context is scrutinised (including sociological,historical, economical and political perspectives) and subsequently, the arguments substantiating these differences are laid down. Consequently, the questions concerning the ontological icon status are scrutinised as well as the questions concerning the substance and the purpose of the art. The concept of unique solution to the question of the ontological status of icon is questioned in the thesis and the antagonism between the approach of John from Damascus and the later representatives of eastern iconodules (iconophiles) is also discussed. Gothic mural painting in the church of saints Peter and Paul in Hosín

The following study is interested in the murals in the original Romanesque church of Saints Peter and Paul in Hosin, apparently the work of a single painter. The whole vault of the apse is painted with representation of the Holy Trinity accompanied by three saints, St Catherine is one of them, and the Vernic1e on the wall above the apse. On the south wall of the nave is painted the legend of St Margaret and extraordinary iconographical thema represents the scribbler with his assistent. The life of St Catherine is depicted on the opposite wall. The vault is covered by figures of angels. Legends are presented in small scenes arranged in bands, with lively narrative characters expressed in the jerky movement of the puppet-like figures. Painting were discovered m 1899 and date of their creation IS probably late fifties of the 14th century.

Human resources in rural development

The work presents one of the Geert Hofstede's approaches to cultural dimensions and and directing their application for the development of rural region to the knowledge economy by influencing the development of human capital. Quantitative research was conducted by questionnaire survey in order to determine the state of the local community, particularly the socio-economic characteristics of the village and material security of the population. The identification of cultural dimensions was carried out using quantitative research VSM 94 & 13. Subsequently, research was expanded to include qualitative research using CSDT.

Kaizen as a management tool applied to a specific trade company

This thesis provides an overview of the Japanese management system called Kaizen. It is divided into two parts, a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretical part focuses on recent changes in trade and business. It further continues with explanation of the term Kaizen and some of its principles. The practical part contains a description of a particular trade company and its structure. A specific challenge of this company has been detected and a Kaizen solution to the problem suggested.

Discussion about ethnic minorities on the example of Austria

The subject of the Bachelor thesis is to describe and assess the relationship of the Republic of Austria to the minorities, so called the indigenous minorities, which the Minority Act of 1976 defines. In the theoretical part the author will focus on legislative changes at the international and national level in relation to the protection of the ethnic minorities and she compares this minority politics with the Czech Republic. The practical part will be devoted to the brief historical background of each indigenous minorities, and at the same time the author will describe their current situation, their everyday problems - whether there is a fulfillment of their minority rights in everyday life. In conclusion, the author will outline and evaluate the expected development of this issue in the future from the acquired knowledge.

Regional aspects and tourism development potential tourism development in the Prague region

Diplomová práce se zabývá regionálními aspekty a potenciálem rozvoje cestovního ruchu ve významné destinaci cestovního ruchu, v regionu Praha. První kapitola je věnována obecné problematice cestovního ruchu, definici cestovního ruchu, jeho formám, specifikům a předpokladům. Druhá kapitola zahrnuje obecnou analýzu současné situace v regionu Praha ve vztahu k cestovnímu ruchu. Jako problémové stránky města jsou zde vyzdviženy stav životního prostředí, dopravní situace a bezpečnost ve městě. Další kapitola se věnuje předpokladům pro cestovní ruch, současné situaci a vybavení města ubytovacími kapacitami a informačními centry, které se jeví jako dostačující s malými mezerami. Pozornost je věnována i úspěšnému segmentu cestovního ruchu v Praze, kongresové turistice, a možnosti pořádání letních olympijských her v Praze. Čtvrtá kapitola odhaluje pomocí dotazníkového šetření návštěvníků města další nedostatky cestovního ruchu v Praze. Pátá kapitola se zabývá propagací města, kterou se zabývají především organizace CzechTourism a Pražská informační služba a jeví se jako a nedostatečně koordinovaná. Poslední kapitola se zabývá shrnutím silných a slabých stránek města ve vztahu k cestovnímu ruchu a věnuje se i současným trendům vývoje cestovního ruchu v Evropě. Na závěr jsou formulována doporučení pro rozvoj podnikatelských aktivit a odstranění překážek dalšího rozvoje cestovního ruchu v Praze.
