This thesis examines the surgical treatment of obesity from the perspective of the patient. The theoretical portion deals with etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, complications, related illnesses, conservative and surgical treatments (definitions, overview and types, principles of basic bariatric approaches, as well as effects and indications, side effects, and results of treatment. It also includes the specifics of the pre-operative preparation, immediate and long- term post-operative care, psychological preparation and post-bariatric-surgery nutrition. The empirical portion consists of quantitative research in the form of a survey instrument with closed-end questions with the possibility of individual responses. The respondents were patients who had been diagnosed as morbidly obese or third-degree obesity and who had also been through surgery within the past three years. One hundred and fifty surveys were distributed, 125 were returned, and 10 of those were not used for incompleteness, and another 6 were not used because the respondents did not meet the criteria. One of the primary goals of the research was to ascertain the information that patients were missing before bariatric surgery and whether this information had a significant effect on the result of the bariatric approach. Another primary goal of...

The thesis is focused on the assessment of nurse's knowledge in the prevention of catheter sepsis. The aim of the study was to expertise knowledge in the prevention of catheter sepsis among nurses working in intensive care units. Map out the latest theoretical and practical possibilities of nurses working in intensive care units in the prevention of catheter-related sepsis of hospitalized patients. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, we focused on a theoretical overview of nosocomial and bloodstream infections. The second chapter is focused on an overview of invasive inputs. The third chapter focuses on prevention of catheter sepsis. Practical part was divided into two chapters. In the first section of the empirical part of the diploma thesis, which is the fourth chapter, we characterized the survey sample, the evaluation of the survey data that have been collected through the questionnaire. Practical part was divided into two chapters. The fifth chapter consists of discussion and suggestions. Key words: sepsis, prevention, nursing, catheter, nurse, hospitalization.
Nursing care of a patient with the thoracoabdominal aneurysm
Holanová, Marcela ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Hrenáková, Eva (referee)
(AJ) The theme of my Bachelor's thesis is a Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA). It is a very serious disease of the descending aorta, which arises weakening or damage of the vascular wall and can endanger the patient's life. Surgical intervention is necessary once the size of the dilation is 5 cm or more. Aneurysm rupture is a life-threatening condition, often leading to death. Surgical intervention of this disease can be done in highly specialized centres only. The primary target of this document is to present the TAAA disease, its diagnostics, cure and care from the patient's admission to his/her discharge. The secondary target is to identify the factors that affect the course of convalescence. The practical part of this thesis is composed in the form of a qualitative research, as a case study of a female patient admitted for the TAAA surgery, and by analysis medical records during the entire hospitalization. Another part of research is an observation and an unstructured interview with nurses taking care of the patient. As there is only a very few literature for nurses related to the care of the TAAA patients, I have written an educational manual at the ending part of this document, which will be available for the needs Department of Vascular Surgery Homolka Hospital (NNH). In this...

Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control Candidate Mgr. Jana Heczková Consultant Doc. RNDr. Veronika Opletalová, Ph.D. Title of Thesis Acetylpyrazin-thiosemicarbazone analogues as potential drugs In the theoretical part of this thesis new findings on antifungal and antibacterial effects of thiosemicarbazones published in 2005 - 2012 were described. Thiosemicarbazones have a very broad range of antimicrobial activity, their effects are in many cases comparable or even better than already used pharmaceuticals. In the experimental part, the preparation procedures of thiosemicarbazones were described and following 7 compounds were prepared:  (2E)-2-[1-(pyridine-2-yl)ethylidene]hydrazinecarbothioamide  (2E)-2-[1-(pyridine-3-yl)ethylidene]hydrazinecarbothioamide  (2E)-2-[1-(pyridine-4-yl)ethylidene]hydrazinecarbothioamide  (2E)-2-[1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethylidene]hydrazinecarbothioamide  (2E)-2-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)hydrazinecarbothioamide  (2E)-2-[1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethylidene]-N,N-dimethylhydrazinecarbothioamide  (2E)-2-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-N,N-dimethylhydrazinecarbothioamide All prepared thiosemicarbazones were characterized by melting point, IR and NMR spectra. Purity was verified by elemental analysis. The...
Synthesis of carboxyxanthone derivatives as building blocks for enantiomeric pure compounds. Synthesis and structure elucidation of xanthone derivative (XD) 2-carboxy-6-methoxyxanthone (XD-2)
Heczková, Jana ; Opletalová, Veronika (advisor) ; Zimčík, Petr (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control Candidate Jana Heczková Consultant Professora Doutora Madalena Maria de Magalhães Pinto, Assoc. Prof. RNDr. Veronika Opletalová, Ph.D. Title of Thesis Synthesis of carboxyxanthone derivatives as building blocks for enantiomeric pure compounds. Synthesis and structure elucidation of xanthone derivative (XD) 2-carboxy-6-methoxyxanthone (XD-2) The importance of xanthone derivatives is considerable. They possess large variety of biological and pharmacological activities. Many of them proved to be important building blocks for synthesis of new compounds. Chirality is a fundamental property of biological systems and reflects the underlying asymmetry of matter. Almost one-third of all drug sales worldwide are chiral compounds and the authorities recommend that the chiral drugs should be saled in pure enantiomeric forms because enantiomers may differ both quantitatively and qualitatively in their biological activities. At one extreme, one enantiomer may be devoid of any biological activity; at the other extreme, both enantiomers may have qualitatively different biological activities. Enantiomers also differ in bioavailability - one enantiomer can be more bioavailable than the other,...
Motivational and demotivational factors in the profession of a general nurse
Hanousková, Jindřiška ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Di Cara, Veronika (referee)
This thesis discusses the motivational and demotivational factors that influence the work of nurses and their sense of satisfaction. The aim of the research is to map the motivational and demotivational factors that affect work performance of the Kolin Regional Hospital. The research's chose quantitative method was done by survey. The questionaire and it's contents were prepared by the author. The creation of the questionaire was based upon several similar surveys. Based on the author's research, it was found that interpersonal relationships among nurses were among the most powerful motivational factors; conversely, dysfunctional interpersonal relationships were the strongest motivational factors for changing employers. Another one of the strongest motivational factors was positive feedback from the patients. Since the research was quantitative in nature and covered the entire hospital, it is the author's opinion that the study should be repeated periodically and further focus on individual departments to better determine motivational and demotivational factors that affect work performance and overall job satisfaction. It is also suggested by the author that further research be conducted to compare outcomes of both employees and employers. keywords: nurse, research, motivation, demotivation,...

0BABSTRACT This thesis is focused on enteral nutrition. This issue is an integral part of intensive and resuscitation care, but it is also a part of standard and follow-up care. There are more and more new resources and the products for enteral nutrition are improving. The theoretical part deals with malnutrition, discusses the different components of nutrition. Much of the thesis forms ways of application of nutrition. The issue is a nasogastric tube, a nasojejunal tube, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, percutaneous endoscopic jejunostomy, feeding button or sipping. There are further expanded the introductions, nursing care, indications and contraindications of these options. The following chapters analyse the modes of enteral feeding, advantages and disadvantages of enteral nutrition compared to parenteral. The practical part is focused on research using anonymous questionnaires in the area of enteral nutrition. The survey was conducted in four departments of three teaching hospitals in Prague. It was focused on nurses and paramedics in medical intensive metabolic care units. The survey had 73 respondents. The aim was to identify the mode of feeding that nurses prefer and how they apply it, analyze the extent to which the nurses actively involve themselves in this, how they are oriented in...
