Fish wars : dynamic externality in fishing
Fiala, Tomáš ; Vošvrda, Miloslav (referee) ; Gregor, Martin (advisor)
The dramatic state of world fish stock is often attributed to the open-access nature of fishing grounds. In this thesis we investigate the consequences of unrestricted access to fisheries by adopting game theoretic framework. We describe the situation of fish appropriation by dynamic model and find some of its Nash equilibria. We show that one of the possible results of the nonexclusive nature of fisheries is overexploitation. Moreover, we find that other outcomes are possible as well. The tragedy of commons is, thus, not inevitable.
Convergence across the four Central and Eastern European states: Panel Data Approaches
Akhmetov, Daniyar ; Gregor, Martin (advisor) ; Cahlík, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of the work is to analyze the convergence in the Czech Republic for the period of 1996- 2006. The paper is based primarily on the Barro and Sala-i-Martin's theories of convergence of sub-national territorial units. The regression results proved assumptions to be realistic. The main model concentrates on a panel data approach that captures the extent to which new transport infrastructure influences within-nation regional convergence. This paper developed a regional approach to evaluate the impact of transport infrastructure, human capital and migration in four Central and Eastern European countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic. The aim is to present an overview of the convergence process of the Czech regions between 1996 and 2006. A neoclassical growth model is used as a framework to study convergence across the 14 administrative units of the Czech Republic. Data on gross value added per capita are exploited. 1

Actual discussion about the regulation of the energy market : theory and practice in the Czech Republic and France
Riemlová, Simona ; Hrubý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
The European energy market has experienced a process of rapid change in recent years. The trend of liberalisation and deregulation is shaping in a fundamental way the environment in which energy companies operate. The aim of this paper is to analyse the present situation regarding the European debate on the liberalisation of the energy market. The analysis includes a theoretical excursus on the problem of the natural monopoly in the energy sector, a description of the European requirements for the organisation of the energy market and an account of the experience of the first countries opening their energy sectors. We will base our affirmation that European directive 2003/92/EC leaves sufficient room for each member state to organise its energy market on its own, on the current debate and the experience of two European Union member states, the Czech Republic and France. The culmination of this paper is section six comparing the present state of the liberalisation process in these two countries, the satisfaction of inhabitants with this process and its impact on energy prices. Time, plan and market
Kollár, Martin ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
The thesis of this work is to enlighten the process of decision making of an individual in time, which is in the end integrated into market system, where many individuals, who are deciding simultaneously, interact together,. The fundamental principles of decision making contained in this work are drawn from the work of G. L. S. Shackle, which chief characteristics are instantaneousness and uncertainty caused by the lapse of time. Hence, the decision making of an individual takes place in the specific instant through generation of conceptions about possible future outcomes of action. The generation of these concepts is based on instantaneous and apriory conceptions, which represent the description of the working of system. Further decision making consists of application of expectations and assignment of future value to the imagined outcomes. As every individual lives in a society comprised of a large number of individuals, diffusion of knowledge and expectation takes place by means of realization of plans and price mechanisms. Thus, every individual achieves to gather sufficient amount of knowledge to be able to make meaningful decisions in this complex system, which is changing in the lapse of time. The budgetary institutions and the analysis of the budgetary situtation in the selected countries
Tomková, Stanislava ; Schneider, Ondřej (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
This paper discusses the possible impact of budget institutions design on the fiscal performance in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The second chapter treats the theory of budgeting, outlines the main sources of excessive budgeting and the most common way of budget process in European countries. The third part of the work briefly concludes the main problems of the budgetary rules on the European level. The emphasis of the paper is on the Czech Republic and Slovakia and their fiscal situation and related institutions. The paper modifies the work of Holger Gleich who followed the hypothesis that there exists the relation between fiscal performance and national budget institutions and accomplished the econometric survey on this topic for the period 1994 - 1998. The purpose of our paper was to extend the work of Gleich and point our look to two selected economies in the time period of 2000 - 2003. Chapter four of the paper deals with the public finance situation and relevant budget institutions in these countries in this period. At the end we complete our research of the quality of budgetary institutions from the fiscal discipline and centralization point of view. Part five concludes. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Emotional Anchoring in Experimental Asset Markets
Pospíšil, David ; Korbel, Václav (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
Human decision making process is influenced by many external as well as internal factors. Our behaviour cannot be deemed as fully rational. This thesis investigates the effect of emotional anchoring on a propensity to enter an asset bubble. This effect was observed in an experiment ran on an online crowdsourcing platform, Amazon Mechanical Turk. The negative anchor proves to have a significant negative effect, i.e. when a subject is under the negative anchor she is more prone to enter the bubble. The positive anchor does not have any significant effect. This thesis contributes to the general knowledge by confirming that trading decisions we make are subjected to the emotions we feel prior to making the decisions. Testing methods of mechanical stress of standing trees (Picea abies)
Gregor, Martin ; Lukášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Holuša, Jaroslav (referee)
The diploma thesis was focused on the methods of mechanical stress of standing trees of Norway spruce (Picea abies) and finding out the insufficiency associated with this method to facilitate the work for next measurements in the subsequent years. There were found wind damages that occurred in the last 15 years. Damages were determined from reports of state of forestry management and from reports of agency forest protection. The method was tested in two locations (in Kostelec and in Bělčice). During testing was wire rope changed for fabric rope, which has better qualities and it is safer. Round slings were placed near to the centre of tree crown, then was tied fabric rope, strain gauge with data logger and hook from the winch rope. The winch was secured by round sling to the anchoring tree. Overall there were tested 10 trees, the applied load was from 320 to 1,060 kg. In the case, when the tree become broken, there was noted the height of the break point.
Formation of Hypereutectic Aluminium Alloys Using Sacrificial Coatings
Gregor, Martin ; Jech, David (referee) ; Čelko, Ladislav (advisor)
Master‘s thesis deals with the forming of hypereutectic aluminium alloys using sacrificial coatings. Literature research is focused on analysing the characteristics of aluminium and its alloys. Attention is also focused to the heat treatment of aluminium alloys and the influence of alloying elements on these alloys. Analysis of characteristics and increase the useful properties of Al - Ni alloys is another object of literary research. Attention is also focused to the analysis of thermal spraying methods by focusing on the principle of individual methods and the characteristics of the coatings made by these methods. The object of experimental part is to prepare the hypereutectic aluminium alloys using sacrificial nickel based coatings. This is an unconventional manufacturing process comprising coating the surface of the aluminium substrate with using HVOF technology and subsequent thermal exposure. Furthermore, the work deals with the metallographic evaluation of prepared samples with a particular focus on the influence of temperature and time of heat treatment on the final structure of the experimental samples.
