Institutional analysis and critical assessment of the effectiveness of newly proposed changes to Regulatory Impact Assessment RIA

The main goal of this work is analysis of Regulatory Impact Assessment RIA, which was implemented into the Czech Republic's legislature on 1 November, 2007. The presented bachelor thesis builds upon theoretical basis and from definitions of relations between competitiveness, business environment and regulations proceeds to Regulatory Impact Assessment. A brief history of the aforementioned instrument is included, as well as is a summary of problems which have been stated in RIA evaluation reports regarding the topic. The presented thesis follows their course and to a large extent confirms the hypothesis stating the formality of approach towards Regulatory Impact Assessment and tendencies towards slapdash processing of the evaluation. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis brings up other interesting assumptions stemming from the provided analysis. To the work's close, recommendations to increasing regulation's efficiency are inferred.
The Impact of Labour Migration from Countries of Central and Eastern Europe on Labour Market of the United Kingdom since 2004

The thesis deals with immigration flows from Central and Eastern Europe to the United Kingdom and with its impact on wages and unemployment of the British population after opening the local labour market in 2004. The thesis analyzed statistical data focused on flows of immigrants and the conditions of the British labour market. The conclusion of this study is that these immigrants had no adverse effects on wages and unemployment of natives. In connection to the dual labour market theory are pointed out the advantages of immigration for a modern developed economy. Conclusions drawn from the United Kingdom and its experience with immigration from Central and Eastern Europe are applied to the German labour market which is currently still closed for immigrants from Central and Eastern Europe.
Cutting Administrative Burdens: Adopting the Standard Cost Model for Introducing of Data Boxes in Czech Republic

In connection with present administration simplification trend, data boxes were established in Czech Republic. Data boxes improved Czech e-government. The aim of this thesis is to analyse launching of data boxes using the Standard Cost Model. This model was formed in Netherlands. Specifically are examined Law on electronic acts and autorized document conversion and its impact on companies. One-off cost and recurring costs are investigated. Furthermore, savings which occurred are analysed. In the final of this thesis there are summarized results and also realty of savings is considered.
The mergers of breweries and their influence on the prices of beer and the market stucture in the Czech Republic

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse an influence of breweries' mergers on the price of beer and the market structure in the Czech Republic. This paper is focused on the development of market structure at the market of bottled beer and keg-beer in the last 20 years. Both markets has noticed strong rise of market concentration so far. The biggest brewing companies either with Czech or with foreign capital participation are also introduced here. In the part dedicated to the influence of breweries' mergers on the price of beer there is a summary showing price development of some Czech bottled and keg-beer. Connecting of the breweries and their influence on the extensity of offered beer are assessed on the examples of Heineken Czech Republic Group and K Brewery Group. On the total analysis of the ROA and ROS ratios it is possible to see significant differences depending on the size of the company. The last part of this paper demonstrates a tax advantage of the small breweries.
The Cost analysis of the modern way of Punishing

The main objective of this diploma thesis is to compare the cost effectiveness of an imprisonment and a fine. Firstly, the thesis explores the theoretical view of economics, economic calculation, and the view of criminology and penology. Further, the thesis quantifies costs of the most important factors: the cost of realization of punishment, the cost of limitation of economic activity of individuals, the cost of change of health, and a cost of effect on prevention and protection. Lastly, the thesis gives suggestion on convinience of various types of punishment for different types of offences.
Corporatization and outsourcing - ways to more effective public sector?

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to introduce specific problems which occur in the management of public sector organizations. We are going to compare distinct motivational factors that are typical both for managers and employees in civil offices and private companies. We will closely look at the method of corporatization, which brings managerial elements from private to public sector. Our next objective is to analyse outsourcing and his limits. Practical part of the work will focus on the results which were achieved by corporatization in Canadian public sector. Further we will evaluate the consequences of outsourcing on the example of urban mass transportation in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic. We will try to show the possibilities of cooperation between the city and private firm as business partners.
Labour force migration in Plzeň region

This thesis called "Labour force migration in Plzeň region" is focused on employing foreigners in labour market, particularly at regional level. The thesis contains description of theories applied on situation in the Czech Republic, as well as development of Czech immigration policy since 1989. Furthermore, the thesis describes forms of employment of foreigners in the Czech labour market, with special emphasis on the description of forms which are considered to be irregular. It analyzes these irregular forms of employment in the Czech context, focusing on the most significant minority in our country. It describes the economic consequences of these phenomena. The overall assessment of the situation is supported by a framework calculation.
Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Czech Republic

This Master thesis focuses mainly on the efficiency of supporting small and medium enterprises in the Czech Republic. Small and medium business promotion creates one of the main targets of the European Union policy. A lot of research has been conducted in the area of business support. This thesis will subsequently analyze practical aspects of the promotion and it captures both programme periods by the year 2013. Very interesting and to certain extent crucial for this work are changes in Union allowance of smaller firms. The aim of the study is to suggest possible measures and recommendations in the area of economic policy and business promotion system that could help solve the current situation.

Pro-active immigration policy in the Czech Republic

This Master Thesis, "Pro-active immigration policy in the Czech Republic" discusses the principles of the current Czech immigration policy. The thesis analyzes the evolution of the pro-active immigration policy from 1990's to the present. The paper researches the reasons why people migrate and also summarizes the views on immigration policy from some of the most prestigious schools of economic thought. The main goal of this thesis was to analyze the four main programs of the Czech pro-active immigration policy -- the pilot project Selection of Qualified Foreign Workers, charity projects in Ukraine, the resettlement of refugees from Burma and the latest project, the Green Cards. The last chapter describes the basic pillars on which immigration policy should be standing. The chapter also addresses possible reform of the current immigration policy; the principle idea is to offer visas for purchase and thereby make the system more effective.
