Boilers for Solid Fuel
Biskup, Michal ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to discuss about boilers for solid fuel which small output (up to 500 kW). The theoretical part deals with basic distribution of fuel and boilers. The composition and type of fuel are described here in more detail. Further, there is listed the distribution of boilers and emission requirements. The practical part is devoted to the description of the experiment, which was carried out on the testing boiler Dakon Damat Pyro 20 G. The experiment was conducted in accordance with the ČSN EN 303-5 according to which the boiler was testing during certification. The results are discussed and compared according to given standards in the final part.
Composition and Energy Use of Municipal Waste
Anisimov, Valerii ; Sitek, Tomáš (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with composition and energy use of municipal waste. Properties of municipal waste are described in the first chapter. The second chapter compares composition of waste in different municipalities. There is description of waste to energy technologies in the third chapter. The last chapter describes incineration plants in Czech Republic.
Waste Gasification
Sedláček, Tomáš ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with the topic of waste gasification. The first part includes the definition of waste with the focus on municipal solid waste, its evaluation as fuel on the basis of its contents and properties, in this case the heating value. Eventually the waste is compared with other normally used solid fuels. The second part presents and describes the thermal processes applied to waste-to-energy technologies, where the gasification is explained in more detail, its final products, the content of contaminants in these products and their removal. The next part deals with technologies used for waste gasification. The last part deals with the issue of waste gasification in the Czech republic.
Design of heating system for family house
Houzar, Filip ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with ways of family house heating. This thesis aimed to choose a suitable heating system for a specific family house. The first part of the thesis deals with a search of commonly used heat sources. This part contains a description of the work of these heat sources and their pros and cons. The following part introduces a specific family house, and the calculation of heat loss and annual heat consumption is performed. Then, three proposals are selected, for which the costs of their operation and return are calculated. At the end of the thesis, the proposals are compared and evaluated from an economic point of view. Based on this comparison, the most suitable proposals are selected, and the conclusions are commented on.
Design of house heating
Řezáč, Patrik ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
The topic of this bachelor thesis is the design of heat source for my house. For this reason, I divided the work into three parts. The first part is a research of the most common sources intended for heating family houses. In the next part of my work is devoted to the calculation of heat loss of the object according to the drawing documentation. In finale section I make economical comparison of solid fuel boiler and heat pump.
Weaknesses of hydrogen energy
Zeleňák, Rastislav ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This Bachelor's thesis focuses on exploring and researching the various technologies available for producing hydrogen and their shortcomings. The production of hydrogen, a clean and renewable energy source, has become increasingly important as the world shifts towards sustainable energy solutions. This thesis examines the various methods of hydrogen production including steam methane reforming, electrolysis and production by biological processes. This bachelor's thesis also deals with different methods of storing hydrogen and transporting it. Next, the negative properties of hydrogen are listed, such as its explosiveness, or the degradation of materials used in hydrogen technologies, i.e. hydrogen embrittlement. The work focuses on its characterization, mechanisms and prevention against it.
Economic Return on Measures for the Greening of House Heating
Zubek, Tomáš ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
High and constantly changing energy prices lead us to effort for efficient solutions in the energy aspect of houses. Suitable measures need to be taken to ensure the efficiency of heating in a family house. This work deals with measures to reduce heat losses and the choice of heating sources. Through the right combination, it is possible to reduce the energy demand of a family house and ensure environmentally friendly and cost-effective operation. In the final part of the thesis, individual measures are proposed and evaluated on a model family house. The calculation is performed using the energy calculation program Energie 2023. The main outcome is the financial return of individual measures and their comparison. At the end, the combination of these measures is considered along eith its economic evaluation.
Hydrogen production and storage
Tunys, Daniel ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
The submitted bachelor’s thesis deals with the research od available methods of hydrogen production and storage and a summary of important current or future hydrogen projects. The thesis discusses possible ways of hydrogen production from fossil and renewable sources and puts into perspective the advantages and disadvantages of individual conventional and experimental methods. The described methods are also compared in terms of emissions that arise during the process. Furthermore, the thesis compares different methods of hydrogen storage and transport with regard to the appropriate practical use of each of them and describes the advantages and disadvantages of different hydrogen storing methods. The last part is an extract of important Czech and global hydrogen projects and hydrogen strategies of individual countries.
Design of systems reducing the energy dependency of an apartment building
Cetkovský, Vojtěch ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
This work deals with the issue of reducing energetic efficiency of the apartment building. The aim of this work is a comparsion of individual variants of systems that reduce energetic efficiency of an apartment building. This problem is approached in three steps. In the first part of this bachelor’s thesis, the theoretical background was elaborated with the help of literature search, which consisted of academic articles and academic literature. In the second part, a calculation on total supplied energy delivered into the building was made, and then the individual variants were compared with each other. The last part of the work was devoted to the economic valorization of individual variants and a selection of the most appropriate variant from the point of view of an annual operating costs of the building and the return on investments.
Thermonuclear fusion for power generation
Osolsobě, Jiří ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Sitek, Tomáš (advisor)
Controlled thermonuclear fusion opens up the possibility of using similar principles that take place in stars to produce energy on planet Earth. A fusion power plant would represent a stable, safe, emission-free and, for the foreseeable future, inexhaustible source of energy. Currently, the most researched fusion device is a tokamak using magnetic confinement of plasma, which is likely to become the reactor of the first fusion power plant. The international ITER tokamak will be a breakthrough project for the further development of controlled thermonuclear fusion, with the main objective of testing a number of key technologies and the suitability of the tokamak as a fusion power plant reactor. According to the European Union's plans, construction of the first EU-DEMO fusion power plant should start around 2040. This bachelor thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the origins, current status and future prospects of thermonuclear fusion and its energy applications.
