Antioxidant and antiinflammatory effects of bilirubin.
Valášková, Petra ; Muchová, Lucie (advisor) ; Martínková, Markéta (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (referee)
For a long time, bilirubin (BR) has been considered a waste molecule with potential toxic effects especially on the central nervous system. Later, it was found that BR exhibited cytoprotective effects and mildly elevated BR levels showed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties, however, exact mechanisms of the anti-inflammatory actions of BR have not been fully understood yet. The main aim of this study was to assess the protective effects of BR using experimental in vivo and in vitro models in relation to inflammation and oxidative stress. Partial goal was to establish validated analytical method for determination of BR and lumirubin. Gunn and heterozygous rats were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 6 mg/kg, IP) or vehicle (saline). After 12 hours, blood and organs were collected for analyses of inflammatory and hepatic injury markers. Primary rat hepatocytes were treated with BR and TNF-α, HepG2 and SH-SY5Y cell lines were treated with BR and chenodeoxycholic acid. LPS-treated Gunn rats had a significantly decreased inflammatory response and hepatic injury compared to LPS- treated normobilirubinemic controls. We found different profile of leukocytes subsets and decreased systemic mRNA expressions and concentrations of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-10 in Gunn rats. Hepatic mRNA...

Preparation and study of clinker minerals
Khongová, Ingrid ; Všianský,, Dalibor (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with laboratory preparation of the main clinker mineral - alit. The theoretical part summarizes the existing knowledge and the practical part deals with the methodology of preparation of the alite. The main goal was to prepare and study the monoclinic phases of alite, another goal was to optimize the triclinic alite.

Study of the limestone decarbonation process
Koporcová, Diana Mária ; Všianský,, Dalibor (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with a research and a description of decarbonation process of limestone during the lime burning. The goal of the bachelor thesis is to try to find a connection between characteristics of input material and course of the decarbonation process, which is monitored by high temperature XRD analysis. There is an evaluation of the microstructure of emerging calcium oxide, especially by the size of the crystallites, in the experimental part.

Study of the influences that affect the reactivity of a limestone
Sklenářová, Dorothea ; Bureš,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dvořák, Karel (advisor)
This thesis is a part of grant assignment and focuses on the effect and properties of input material, limestone, on reactivity and speed of decarbonation. The aim of this thesis is to find the effect of chemical composition, petrography, genesis and diagenesis, porosity and microstructure of limestones on reactivity and speed and profile of decarbonation. The experimental part of thesis describes analysis of chosen limestone samples regarding porosity, reactivity by Bischof-Uhde method and process of decarbonation of calcite in term of crystallinity of product.

Evaluation of job performance in non-profit organization
Dvořák, Karel ; Furmaníková, Lada (advisor) ; Vrzáček, Petr (referee)
/ Summary The topic of my diploma thesis consists in the assessment of work performance at a non- profit organization, which is a category that is currently perceived as an essential prerequisite for high-quality human resource management. The instigation of choosing the topic was the experience in the author's field, where he had been able to notice some drawbacks to this area and he had been given the opportunity to work on their removal, or - let us say - on the improvement in the existing assessment system of the staff at this organization, where he was then employed. The main objective of qualitative research consisted in finding and describing evident drawbacks to the staff performance assessment system as well as to suggest some changes specified in the proposal for the new methodology or the directive stipulating the staff performance assessment rules, including the documentation section. In this sense, the contribution of the thesis can be perceived. The thesis is divided into two basic sections - the theoretical one and the practical one. In the theoretical section, general knowledge, well-known theories, information about the area of human resources at non-profit organizations - to be specific in the area of human resource management - are summarized. This section is focused mainly on...
