Theme of the city in a contemporary fairytail
Výmolová, Tereza ; Brožová, Věra (advisor) ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee)
English resumé This bachelor thesis handles the theme of city (and its displays) in contemporary fairy tail. The thesis is based on Pavel Šrut's writings Lichožrouti and Lichožrouti se vracejí. From this thesis it is obvious, that space is the main element in these tales. As this space is horizontal and vertical, so it is subjective (seen by the characters) and objective. Through the analysis of each space in each book I tried to look into the way of constructing it in books in general. I also tried to analyse the whole writings (focused on the elements and theme of city). As the main result of my findings I consider the fact, that there is a shift (in the sphere of space) between first and second book. The continuing of this shift (possible loop) is expected in next book (or books). This shift is based on significant opposition as well as on their mutual completion. I also tried to summarize the theme of space and city in academic literature.
Success and Failure of Vilém Mrštík (Maryša and Anežka)
Smolíková, Miroslava ; Mocná, Dagmar (advisor) ; Brožová, Věra (referee)
The thesis called "Marysa and Anezka. Success and failure of Vilem Mrstik" deals with Marysa, a drama co-written by V. Mrstik and his brother A. Mrstik in 1894, and Anezka, a play finished by V. Mrstik in collaboration with his wife B. Mrstikova in 1912. Both dramatic works are introduced within the literary-historical context and within the personal history of the author. Introduction provides insight into source-books, the most important previous studies of the field and basic propositions around which the thesis revolves. The Marysa part expands the research of M. Ljubkova with information from correspondence between V. Mrstik and L. Stroupeznicky. It also questions the importance of V. Mrstik's inputs to the collective work and analyses premiere and critical reception of the drama, using contemporary reviews. The Anezka part follows genesis of the play with use of correspondence and manuscripts from literary archive of The Museum of Czech Literature (PNP). The genesis includes quotes of V. Mrstik defending the drama. The thesis also describes circumstances of Anezka's premiere and its disappearance from the stage and mentions the probability of guilty conscience that dramaturgist J. Kvapil might have had about V. Mrstik's suicide. Reception of Anezka is depicted with the help of contemporary...
Characteristic of magazine "Malý čtenář" 1882-1895
Křesťanová, Gabriela ; Brožová, Věra (advisor) ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee)
Magazine Malý čtenář published between 1882-1941. It was a magazine for children and youth, which was associated primarily with respect to the nation, patriotism and the Czech countryside. In its early days was moralizing. It became one of the most important Czech magazine for children. In my work I looked at the time of the magazine from 1882 to 1895. In those years passed it the original authors, who were teachers from Poděbrady Vognar, Zelený and Smetana, to the publisher J. R. Vilímek. The quality of articles improved. For Malý čtenář wrote prominent personalities of Czech literature, for example Eliška Krásnohorská, Adolf Heyduk, Karel Václav Rais or Josef Václav Sládek. I have dealt with poetry and prose at the time before 1887 and after this year. I was interested in changing the structure of articles, especially the increasing number of historical and adventure stories. I was interested in using different genres of children's literature, everything I looked at specific examples. I focused on the famous writers, but I watched the most minor writers too. The result of the work was an overview of the structure of the magazine, the most important genres and writers. The examples confirm the growing quality of the articles. The magazine provided me with insight into literature for children and...
Gender aspects of children's literature
Luhanová, Alexandra ; Brožová, Věra (advisor) ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee)
The relation between literature and gender themes has been studied from the first half of twentieth century especially in America and Great Britain. At the beginning it was concern of feminism orientated activists who focused on folk tales and their influence on female identity. Later the range of scientists focused on gender became wider just as the range of themes related to gender did. From the end of last century we don't consider the theme of gender as a specific theme of feminists wanting equality of gender. There are some new topics as for example new models of family and their presentation in children's literature. As new models of family we understand living in divorced family or living with parents of the same sex. Authors of these books want to help children to deal with this new situation but they want to impress the public as well. The most important books focused on this theme were published thirty years ago in the USA and Great Britain but we still can't find this in our bookshops. This finding seems understandable with books with gay and lesbian themes, because it's not so long since the registered partnership was legalized and there are probably not many families with parents of the same gender. What is surprising is absence of titles considering divorces because it's a social problem of...

Considering the fact that this bachelor thesis concerns one of the plays of the Jára Cimrman Theatre wchich is based on the mystification, several theoretical information about the mystification is situated at the beginning of the thesis. The core of this thesis deals with the characters that appear in the 15th Jara Cimrman Theatre play - České nebe. The persons are important Czech personalities who are for various reasons admitted to the heavenly commission to decide about the faith of the Czech nation. They are: Jan Amos Komenský, Svatý Václav, forefather Čech, Jan Hus, Karel Havlíček Borovský, grandmother of Božena Němcová, marshall Radecký and Miroslav Tyrš (The last named are not in the heavenly commission. They enter there as guests). Each character is characterized from the perspective of the authors. This view is compared with the characteristics of the characters in the historical didactical guidbooks, in some cases the characteristic of the guidebook is applied to the play. At the end, the real characters from another Jára Cimrman Theatre plays (Blaník, Záskok, Afrika) are more generally characterized. Translation © sl. Kateřina Vokáčová

The bachelor thesis is focused on the personage of Ferdinand Kafka (1841-1925), a representative of period cultural and educational activities in the context of the Malé Svatoňovice area, at the utter end of Czech lands, lying at the sharp Czech-German linguistic line. Public activities of Ferdinand Kafka occur in the second half of the 19th century and the first two decades of the following one. The case study is on a topic which has never been researched, and works with a historical-comparative method that draw from a large amount of primary sources, such as from personal archives of Kafka's family or the document collection of the amateur theatre. This profile takes notice of Kafka's life events, family and social background, and, above all, of his work for the region. We can find Ferdinand Kafka as a council man, responsible for decision making in his home town, and as a speaker of the people, ensuring communication between inhabitants and their aristocrats. He is described as a folk writer and a gifted public narrator. This follower of revivalist traditions contributed to national culture also by the foundation of a large number of local Czech educational guilds, such as the readers'company. The largest space is dedicated to the local theatre which Kafka helped to construct and where he performed and...
