Identity and social identification of adolescents in the context of subcultures.

Identity and social identification of adolescents in the context of subcultures The thesis deals with issues of subcultures viewed by contemporary teenagers. It should explain how adolescents relate to subcultures and how identification with subcultures works. Through the thesis goes the theme of identity and its establishing during adolescence, especially within subcultures. The theoretical part concerns adolescence as a developmental period, subcultures in general, groups and group phenomenons (conformity, categorization, need of individuality and need to belong) and identity. The practical part summarize outcomes of quantitative research (questionnaires) and main qualitative research. Dominant technique of data collection were semistructured interviews with adolescents, who identify themselves with subcultures and also with adolescents, who distance from subcultures. Respondents of both researches were 14 to 17 years old. Based on statements made by informants, three basic attitudes, which teenagers take in realation to subcultures (full identification, ambivalent identification and non-identification) and which involve diverse conceptions of subcultures, were described. Gypsy's child structure of the day - declaration and reality

The purpose of my thesis is to present the structuring of time of eight Gypsy children aged 11 to 17, living or spending free time at prague's suburb Velká Ohrada. The central goal of this thesis is to identify the Gypsy's child structure of the day and to find out which points of a child's day are defined as crucial by child and by parents and to which event of a day these points refer to. The text is divided into theoretical and empirical part. Theoretical part focuses on pointing out the main aspects of the topic of time. First part also tackles the issue of conceptualization of time as a category itself and as a category, which structures the reality. Question of time is analysed in the context of sociology and psychology. The literature related to the structuring of time of Gypsies is also reflected in the theoretical part of the thesis. The discourse is conducted from a historical perspective and notes that the perception of time was affected by several significant milestones. Empirical part, in addition to the description of objectives, methods, research sample and environment pays particular attention to analysis of its own data of quality- oriented research - the view of Gypsy childern and their parents on how they spend different types of days (e.g. weekday, weekend day, holiday day)....
Motherhood as the breaking point in the life of a young Roma mother

The aim of this thesis is to look into the lives of young mothers of Roma nationality and to get better understanding of influences that affect them and their adoption and perception of their maternal role. The choice of this theme is based on experience with previous working with Roma families. For the research, it has been chosen five mothers aged under 25 years, with whom were conducted unstructured interviews. In the theoretical part, there is a discussion about motherhood in general and later about its specifics in the Roma community. The greatest emphasis is taken on the receiving parent role. Firstly, the empirical part is a discourse about the choosen method - grounded theory. Then there is detailed description of data processing and data analysis. The following chapters are devoted initially to environmental influences to motherhood and later to the concrete experience of the respondents. The experience of motherhood is viewed from several angles - the time horizon (from conception to birth and the first reaction to child) and the importance of her baby to the mother, especially in terms of commitment and in the context of plans and wishes. Like mother, like daughter? Gender role reproduction of one and a half generation of female Armenian migrants in Czech republic

Diploma thesis is focused on a social status of one and a half generation of female Armenian migrants in Czech republic. It follows processes of a negotiation of their own social position and a creation of their own self-image on basis of gender role reproduction analysis. There are two main influential factors in context with their life in the target country. First one is their family and an Armenian community who is trying to pass Armenian traditions and values to them. The other one is the major society around them. Thesis reveals how individual informants in the bicultural situation perceive traditional gender roles and the possibility of their development or change. Girl's strategies prove to what degree they are following social patterns based on their origins in comparison with the life in the target country. Despite the fact that they know and understand social patterns preserved in Czech society they are accepting and by their behaviour even proving a gender role identification in the context of their family and Armenian community. This identification coresponds with an identification of the common Armenian family because it's girl's key reference group determining all relationships.
