Biomechanical response of selected structures of the knee joint to mechanical loads
Horňáková, Lenka ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Navrátil, Leoš (referee) ; Mlynárik, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Biomechanical response of the knee meniscus to the axial loads Work Title: The quantification of the structural changes in deep layer of the knee meniscus using the standardized axial loading Purpose: Due to the internal structure of the knee joint, the ability to characterize and quantify the dynamic response of the meniscal tissue directly in vivo is highly problematic. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the behavior of the meniscus under loading conditions, using parametric MR imaging. Methods: Subjects with no history of knee pain or meniscal problems were included in the study (mean age 27.8 ± 1.3 years). To obtain values of relaxation times T2* in the meniscus, the vTE sequence was used with 10 echoes ranging from 0.8 to 10.1 ms. This has resulted in minimizing the echo time, which is an advantage when differentiating meniscal tissue from surrounding components. First of all, an unloaded limb was scanned and immediately after, the limb loaded half of the person's weight was measured repeatedly in 4 consecutive scans. A custom - made diamagnetic apparatus was developed to simulate stress conditions on the lower limb in a conventional MR scanner. At each 6:10 min measurement, the knee joint was scanned in 64 sections, each image displaying a 1.3 mm section. The two -...

The Genealogy of the Plzeň Revolt on June 1, 1953: An Analysis of Public Collective Protests of the Plzeň City Population in the Years 1948-1953
Šlouf, Jakub ; Randák, Jan (advisor) ; Kopeček, Michal (referee) ; Křesťan, Jiří (referee)
The presented dissertation thesis analyzes one of the largest protests of the Czechoslovak Stalinism-era - the Plze revolt against the currency reform in June 1953. From a conceptual perspective, the work draws on the theory of the so-called new social movements. Therefore it sets the well-known Plze incident into the context of previous protest actions that occurred in the Plze region in the course of the years 1948-1953. This method enables the author to chart the development of several varied protest cultures which had been employed in particular parts of society in Western Bohemia on a long term basis and which inspired the inception and the course of the Plze revolt in the year 1953. This way the work offers not only a considerably more precise critical description of the June protests but also their cultural genealogy. By the means of this genealogy the author reveals the structure of the main social movements that took part in the revolt and an associated complex of social conflicts that caused the protests. There were in particular the following three: a socially-motivated strike movement of industrial blue-collars, a pro-western movement of both student and blue-collar youth and a latent tension within the communist party which was becoming evident through a passive resistance of its rank...
Prague baroque veduta in the work of Wenceslaus Hollar Bohemus and his followres
Boňová, Kamila ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
The bachelor thesis Prague baroque veduta in the work of Wenceslaus Hollar and his followers deals with the development of Prague veduta from the end of 15th century till the end of baroque era. The aim of the thesis is to concentrate on Wenceslaus Hollar's work concerning his Prague vedutas made either in Prague or during his europian yourneys that are considered a great piece of art. Nevertheless, not only the third focal chapter Prague vedutas in the work of Wenceslaus Hollar but also the other ones contain some piece of information regarding the the contemporary period. The third chapter The predecessors of Wenceslaus Hollar emphasises remarkable significance of this period where young Hollar worked with such artists as Aegidius Sadeler, Pieter Stevens and others who certainly influenced Hollar to some extent. But at the same time, this thesis tries to point out the main context of Hollar's period and to mention the work not only of his predecessors, who influenced Hollar to some extent but also to sum up the theme by Hollars followers who did not reach the same quality as Hollar by far, though. Still all these mentioned ones enabled us to look back into the past through their vedutas. Keywords Prague, veduta, Hollar, baroque, Rudolf II. Po et znak (v etn mezer): 126 216
The process of translocation in Ostrov nad Ohří (Schlackenwerth). The origin and development of the church of St Jacob and the church of St Nicolas according to the urbanization
Šídlová, Andrea ; Scholz, Stefan (advisor) ; Záruba, František (referee)
The thesis should notice the time when the two churches arose by looking back at the historical situation in the 13th century Premyslid Bohemia. Furthermore, we will try to evaluate the social, legal and property situation of the given area, and it will monitor the development and building. The work is given a chapter on the administrative area of Sedlecko to point out conflicts of interest of Czech kings and Roman rulers in this territory and the formation of the state historic town of Cheb and between the 12th and 13th century. The origins of Ostrov agglomeration is linked to the family of Hrabišic. The following chapter discusses their family, their asset base and foundation. The main part is devoted to the translocation and the relocation of settlements from the center of the parish church of St. James to St. Nicholas. The reason was, as it was previously shown, an unsatisfactory position of the original settlement for its further development, which was necessary for the competitiveness of the local market center. It subsequently evolved into a town. This situation culminated in the privilege of King John of Luxembourg. At that time a new and relatively big church was being built which replaced the church of St. James. It was a part of the settlement and farmstead of the family of Hrabišic and...
Nesting biology and ecology of selected sphecid wasps species (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae, Crabronidae)
Srba, Miroslav ; Vilímová, Jitka (advisor) ; Bogusch, Petr (referee)
Aim of presented work is to characterize and compare nesting biology and ecological requirements of five species of solitary wasps (Hymenoptera: Apoidea). Four species of family Sphecidae: Ammophila heydeni Dahlbom 1845, A. pubescens Curtis 1829, A. sabulosa (Linnaeus 1758), Sphex funerarius Gussakovskij 1934) and one representative of family Crabronidae (Bembix tarsata Latreile 1809) are treated here. Field observations were performed at spoil banks originated by coal mining by Most, Northwestern Bohemia. Obtained data bring exact parameters characterizing nesting habitats of studied species. Included are data on soil granulometry and penetrability, slope angle and vegetation cover. Significant difference between Ammophila species group and Bembix tarsata together with Shex funerarius was identified. Bembix tarsata and especially Sphex funerarius require softer soils and have broader valence in slope of nesting site sompared to Ammophila spp. Orientation of skew surface was almost south which has influence on microclimate of inhabited site microclimate. Biotic parameters such as cleptoparasite abundance were also tested. Three species of parasitic species Diptera: Sarcophagidae have been detected: Hilarella hilarella (Zettersedt, 1844), H. stictica (Meigen, 1824) a Metopia argyrocephala (Meigen, 1824)....
