In the theoretical part, this diploma thesis deals with a literary analysis and comparison of books Momo, Timm Thaler, or the Traded Laughter and The Thief Lord. The pieces of work are analysed on the basis of their common features. Such features include the main characters, and the magical motifs which affect real life situations. The partial subjects of observation are film versions of the works. The thesis is concluded by the practical part addressing a didactic adaptation of the novel Momo; including worksheets and other teaching aids designed for pupils of elementary schools and grammar schools. The teaching aids are based on the theory and involve a didactic analysis, methodical analysis and time plans for their utilization in German language classes. Issue of teaching the pronunciation of the German language at Czech primary schools

This master thesis deals with the teaching of pronunciation in primary schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical thesis explains the importance of pronunciation, of phonetics and of phonology, because of achieving communication skills. It explains terms, that are related with pronunciation, describes phenomena in the German phonetic system, that are difficult for Czechs, and discusses methods of teaching German pronunciation in the context of primary school. It also points out that the inclusion of teaching German pronunciation is insufficient in RVP and very diverse in the school educational plans. The practical part of the thesis introduces three textbook files and analyses the degree of the inclusion of pronunciation in their concepts. Afterwards, it shows research that took place in five classes in primary school. It conducts observations and interviews with teachers in this research. The mastery of the very difficult German sounds by the pupils was found out. Finally, the results of the research in all classes are compared. The results of the research show that there is some connection between the teacher's teaching skills and the pupil's pronunciation skills. Linking social novel and fantasy on an example of Kirsten Boie. Didactic adaptation of the novel "Alhambra"

Thesis covering topic of Linking social novel and fantasy on an example of Kirsten Boie. Didactic adaptation of the novel "Alhambra" deals with the use of literature in foreign language teaching. The theoretical part discusses its overall contribution to the development of key skills of mastering a foreign language for a student, on the conditions and rules for its use in class. Literature used in class may represent a new source of information about the target language and society that uses it, so it can be used also for multicultural education and with cross-subject projects. The second part deals with the personality of Kirsten Boie and her art, especially the novel "Alhambra" and its theoretical and practical specifics, including a possible contribution to the lesson. In this part an alternative educational material was created, which alone represents a new impetus and a change in the method of teaching for pupils and teachers. Theme and stylistic style of social novel "Alhambra" with historical and fantasy elements doesn't resemble a classic-sounding articles in textbooks, it is thematically attractive for students and arouses curiosity and motivation to read it. Options of implementation of the project teaching for German language teaching in the first level of elementary school

This Diploma thesis deals with the project teaching and with the options of implementation of this method into second language teaching in the first level of elementary schools. Theoretical part of the thesis focuses on history, characteristics, classification, phases, advantages and disadvantages of the project teaching. In the second part, the thesis is based on a five-hour long project called "Berlin entdecken" created by the author and realized in the fifth year of elementary school with the extended second language teaching specialization. The thesis aims to find out students' attitude towards the project teaching. Also, based on a case study, it tries to find out whether the integration of this teaching method is applicable to teaching process among students with different education expectations. The research draws on both quantitative and qualitative methods (i.e. questionnaire, observation, and structured interview). Based on the carried out research, the thesis find out that the project teaching is an appropriate method for second language teaching in the first level of elementary schools. Utilizing an interactive whiteboard to learn verbs in German lesson

The aim of this master's thesis, "Utilizing an interactive whiteboard to learn verbs in German lesson" is presented in two parts. The theoretical part is devoted to aspects which influence teaching, and therefore the preparation of interactive materials. The practical part is focused on the proposal of activities used on the interactive whiteboard. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter allows us to view the educative process from a psychological perspective, attempting to clarify the importance of relevant styles and strategies used effectively while learning a foreign language. The concern of chapter two is an interactive board and multimedia. Principles which should be followed by educators who are creating teaching materials are also introduced. Furthermore, there are presented internet portals which can be used in German lessons. The last chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to grammar and the grammatical category - verbs. The practical part is predominantly based on creating your own teaching materials, which are designed to practise German verbs. The activities are split up into two sections (for elementary school and high school). An evaluation of the teaching materials results from survey. They were verified in the educational practice.

This diploma thesis deals with the adventure novel Winnetou I by Karl May and with its practical use in foreign language lessons. The first part is focused on the didactics of literature and on the issue how literature can contribute to the development od pupils' competences and which methods could be used in this process. It also introduces the personality of Karl May in relation to his adventure novel Winnetou I. The second part presents an alternative teaching and learning material that was elaborated on the basis of the adventure novel Winnetou I.

MASTER THESIS TITLE: Didactic principles of John Amos Comenius and their application in today's teaching of German language AUTHOR: Stanislava Černá DEPARTMENT: Department of Germanics SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Dagmar Švermová This master thesis is focused on the personality of meaningful Czech thinker J. A. Comenius and his didactical principles, many of which are nowadays still relevant. The most emphasized principles are activity, motivation and student's perception with the use of all senses. The last mentioned principle can be ensured by the activity-oriented teaching; student can be motivated and exacerbated by problem-oriented or project teaching. Theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to the definition of principles, understanding of the activity principle before and today, its use in the foreign language teaching and the definition of aims and key competencies. Following practical part describes realization of two projects where was validated that inclusion of projects into German language teaching is suitable motivating and exacerbating means in case the aims and methods are selected appropriately.
