Needs and Experience of Families with Child Suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy - Current Situation and Challenges for Social and Health Care System in Czech Republic

Situation of families in which a child with spinal muscular atrophy was born, is the topic of this thesis. This rare genetic disease affects neuromuscular system of children and shortens their lives. In most severe cases the failure of respiratory functions comes in the first year of child's life. This thesis is focused on support that Czech system of social and medical services provides to families with this disease. Next, it looks into needs of these families and examine the extent to which the system is able to saturate them. Very important point in this research is also families' perception of quality of care. The research was implemented with use of qualitative methods, mostly by semi-structured interviews which followed families' journey through the system of social and medical services. Then there is a comparison of experience of families with theories, policy and other normative framework and suggestion of steps that should be taken to improve families' satisfaction with services they receive concerning the child's disease. Negotiations of sales representatives of pharmaceutical companies in the eyes of pharmaceutical assistants.

Ethical behavior is an inseparable part of business life and can have a major impact on corporate culture in business companies and their communication with clients. The aim of this work was to find out how the behavior of sales representatives of pharmaceutical companies in pharmaceutical pharmacies is perceived, to describe the ethical aspects in this field, and then to propose recommendations for adjusting internal rules, values or ethical code in a selected pharmaceutical company. This task was accomplished by carrying out qualitative research to analyze and deeper describe how pharmaceutical assistants in pharmacies perceive the behavior of sales representatives of pharmaceutical companies. In order to eliminate the identified circumstances in this field, the proposed recommendation for the selected company is a thorough knowledge of ethical principles and the incorporation of techniques into the training program of the company that focus on empathy is proposed. In conclusion, adherence to ethical principles and the right corporate culture in the company can be considered crucial in the context of successful cooperation between the sales representative and the pharmacy.
Mapping of the workload of social service workers in homes for the elderly

This thesis focuses on mapping out work burden of formal caregivers in social services, above all on cathegories influencing a level of the burden. Its aim is to describe cathegories/areas of work burden of caregivers in retirement homes at standard wards and at wards with a special measures regime, where they take care of clients suffering from dementia. A sub-aim is to find out whether there are differences in perception of the work burden at the two types of wards and differences between work burden at these wards. Based on the conclusion of this thesis, recommendations for the management of retirement homes will be formulated. The research will be conducted in a retirement home which has both types of wards - the standard one and the one with speacial measures regime. Its respondents will be the formal caregivers of these wards. Difficulties arising from individual planning in a particular old people's home

This diploma thesis analyzes the current situation of the individual planning of social services in a particular home for the elderly. It attempts to focus on uncovering the causes of partial failures in the individual planning process from the perspective of key employees. Therefore, the main research question of this diploma thesis is: "What are the problematic aspects of individual planning in a particular home for the elderly?" The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is focused on the legislative basis for the social services, including a definition of home services for the elderly, quality of social services, principles and specifics of individual planning with the elderly, and the role of the key employee in the system of individual planning during the provision of social services. In the introduction of the empirical part, the choice of qualitative research strategy has been justified where the technique of collecting data was described, units of the research were defined, the main research question was operationalized, and the research organization was described. Patients'Recruitment Issues in Clinical Trials

This thesis examines patient recruitment in clinical trials. It is a current and pressing issue, which is not sufficiently embedded in the thinking of doctors and patients, their patterns of communication, and more broadly in the traditional doctor-patient relationship, which continues to be burdened by post-socialist paternalism. The formal framework and ethics have been developed relatively recently, and their application causes confusion to all participants regarding how to proceed in specific situations. In addition, the choice of topic, and especially the form of dealing with the topic, was motivated by the relative lack of academic resources and publications in the field. The theoretical section of the thesis defines clinical research and its phases, and introduces basic terminology and documents closely linked to clinical research. In addition, it focuses on research ethics, thoroughly examining the issue of informed consent - a fundamental document necessary for recruiting a patient in a clinical trial. Finally, one chapter of the thesis focuses on the issue of medical literacy, the level of which is integral to the participants' understanding of the importance of clinical research, and directly affects participants' decision-making. The Evaluation Process of Employees in the Organizational Body of Funded Organizations

The thesis consists of a case study and focuses on the processes of assessment, training and remuneration of employees in the organizational component of a budgetary organization. The introductory part focuses on the opinion of experts on human resources management with emphasis on the areas studied. Special emphasis is placed on the evaluation process, its methods, evaluation criteria, classification, evaluator's personality and the course of evaluator's meeting with the person who is being assessed. We also focused on training and remuneration - processes following the evaluation. Concerning educational issues, we were interested in the opinions of professionals focusing on identifying the needs of training, its planning and results evaluation. Remuneration was viewed as one of the most effective tools to motivate employees in connection with the transfer of assessment to the remuneration. The application part of the thesis introduces in-depth analysis of the current levels of the evaluation process and the processes connected with it - training and remuneration of employees in the selected organization. The Introduction of the Process of an Individual Planning of Social Care in a Senior's House

The theme of the diploma thesis presented is the implementation of individual planning process in the elderly homes' social care. The process is set in the legislature of the social services of the Czech Republic, which has met several complex changes. The thesis contains a strategic plan how to implement such process in an institute. In the research part there has been described how successful the selected stuff were in the individual planning process implementing. Qualitative methods of research were used to observe how stuff got through the individual planning process and how their approach and behaviour developed. Furthermore the questionnaires were used to observe the impact on users' contentment before and after the individual planning process implementing. In the research the qualitative as well as quantitative research methods were applied. The research has brought in suggestions for creation of a methodology for individual planning process in an organization. Quality of domiciliary services from a user's perspective

Petra Slaná ABSTRACT The thesis "Quality of domiciliary services from a user's perspective" deals with issues of quality of care services. Its aim was to find out what users expect from a quality service. Based on qualitative research and knowledge gained from practice was also to create a methodology for user satisfaction domiciliary services. The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part contains the definition of old age, approaching the issue of aging, self-sufficiency and human needs in old age. It provides demographic and statistic data about the aging population. It focuses on social services in general, their definition, types and forms. It outlines the form of social services for seniors in the Czech Republic and in selected countries of European Union. It describes systems of quality used in the commercial sphere and in the service area. The theoretical part concludes with an overview of the factors which determine user satisfaction. Increasing quality of the social service of home for the elderly in Karviná

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou standardů kvality poskytovaných služeb, konkrétně zvyšováním kvality sociálních služeb Domova pro seniory v Karviné. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak se projevuje subjektivní vnímání pracovníků ohledně způsobu poskytování sociálních služeb na základě jejich poslání, zásad poskytování služeb, osobních cílů uživatelů služby a jejich chování a postojů. Teoretická část je zaměřena na definování kvality, a to v souvislosti s kvalitou poskytovaných služeb domova pro seniory, měření a zvyšování kvality sociálních služeb. Dále se zabývá přístupy zaměřené na člověka jako model, který může být vodítkem "dobré" služby v návaznosti na možné důkazy o zvýšení kvality poskytovaných pobytových služeb pro osoby vyššího věku. Ty vycházejí především ze standardů kvality poskytovaných služeb. Postoje a chování pracovníků jsou sledovány v rámci empirické části ve vybraných situacích, které jsou v organizaci považovány z hlediska přímé péče a ochrany práv uživatele za rizikové. Na základě výsledků z ohniskových skupin jsou vytvořena doporučení, která mohou být základem pro změny v pojetí kvality v dané pobytové sociální službě a nastavení programu jejího zvyšování.
