Fanfiction phenomenon in perspective of historical sociology

Fanfiction Phenomenon in Perspective of Historical Sociology My thesis presents fanfiction as a global phenomenon fully matured and adapted to the internet as its own milieu. It defines fanfiction in relation to the community that I call "online fanfiction community". It is characterized by specific forms of communication, most importantly: a specific form of active readership, where author, reader and critic merge together. Today, the full-blown sphere of internet fanfiction cannot be understood without noting its development which is tied to a new way of being an active fan in the era of mass culture. This way is characterized by fandoms, fanzines and cons which established fanspeak and forms of communication that stayed the same despite the development of new technologies. My thesis also discusses the interpretation of online fanfiction community as a subculture. It describes the strategies used by the community to keep itself apolitical and egalitarian and also these to keep activism of the fight against the repressive concept of copyright law and internet censorship separate from the fanfiction arena. My thesis also interprets fanfiction authorship as one of many concepts of authorship that are present in the frame of modernity.

The collective memory of the forcibly ejected inhabitants: The oral history about the 2nd World War from Neveklov and its neighbourhoods

This Dissertation is the benefit to studying of the questions of the oral history of forcibly ejected inhabitants of Neveklov and its neighbourhoods during the 2nd World War. About this region, there exists authentic testimony and this territory is fixed in the collective memory. The oral history is a highly valued literary source. Its value is in the authenticity, which is characterized by selectivity and represents another point of view. The essay brings the unique opportunity to get acquainted with witnesses of the wartime. At present this testimony is unknown or is being forgotten in the offical documents. The essay follows the researches of Jaromír Jech from the middle of the last century. If we compare the results of both researches, we get the view of the importance of forcible displacement of Czech inhabitants in a demarcated region. Result of this work is the analysis of the results obtained with the help of the modern approaches that are based on the method of the oral history, which is a part of the qualitative research, with an emphasis on general objectives and context. Television fanship and the phenomenon of game. History-sociological study of television fanship

The goal of the diploma thesis is to describe basic characteristics of mediate fanship, which we interprate as a specific form of game. In theoretical part we discuss typologies of fans, concept of flow and antropological and philosophical interpretations of game. We also present some aspects of modernity. Diploma thesis uses qualitative research and it combines three methods: archival research, observation and interviews. The aim of archival research done in the archive of the Czech television si to describe transformation of televison fanship in time. We discuss that this phenomenon is not a matter of the last twenty years and that it has its own history. Observations and interviews brings us to nowadays. We combine perspective of an observer with the data taken from interviews. Ten interviews were made during the research.

Everyday life of Russian-speaking students in the Czech Republic (based on in-depth interviews)

The topic of the thesis concerns the everyday life of Russian speaking students in the Czech Republic. Its aim is to capture certain features of the everyday life of Russian-speaking students in the Czech Republic. It consists of several chapters. The theoretical part is devoted to defining the key concept of "everyday life", its characteristics, a brief overview of selected books and theories related to this issue, as well as a description of basic theoretical bases in the sociology of everyday life. The historical part deals with the description of selected daily activities and focuses on the life of Russian speaking students in the territory of Czechoslovakia in the 1920s. century. The methodological part describes what qualitative research is, how the data and the actual course of research were obtained. The practical part deals with the results of the research.

Promotions effect to clients in the spa town Poděbrady

The diploma thesis focuses on promoting of the Poděbrady city as a spa town since 1905, when the first spring was drilled in the courtyard of the Poděbrady chateau. The thesis follows the historical development of the town Poděbrady, the beginnings of spa tourism in Poděbrady and consequently its development. Thesis defines spa methods and specific methods used in Poděbrady spa. The theme of spa therapy fits into the broader concept of leisure time and assesses how great the promotion of spa tourism has had before and today. The main aim of this work is the analysis of spa guests and their transformation during the centuries. The work aims at its 1924, 1947 and 2012 objectives as a representative for the period of the First Republic, the post-war period, and the current one. Socialization and identity construction in the children's home

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of socialization and construction of the identity of individuals growing up in institutional care, specifically in children's homes. It focuses on socialization in the broadest sense and on its specifics within the institution. At the same time, it deals with the question of what it means for an individual to be a child from a children's home and also with the question of stigmatization. To obtain the data, qualitative research strategy was used. The data was retrieved through semi-structured interviews with those, who experienced growing up in a children's home and also with those, who work in the facility. In total, 8 interviews were conducted, 6 of them with informants, who live or used to live in a children's home, and 2 with employees of the children's home. Social changes of the town Svoboda nad Úpou on the background of the census of 1910 and 1921

Diploma thesis "Social changes of the town Svoboda nad Úpou on the background of the census of 1910 and 1921" deals with the analysis and comparison of the census of 1910 and 1921 for the town Svoboda nad Úpou, which is located in Giant Mountains. The content and aim of the thesis is to describe particular censuses and compare their changes, especially from the point of view of the census in the times of Austria-Hungary, concretely the last census within the monarchy and thus at the beginning of the independent Czechoslovak Republic. The work then analyzes the census of both years and interprets their results. Consequently, the census compares and tracks how the city changed between the censuses and how the census results were reflected. Attention is primarily paid to the number, sex and age of the inhabitans, furthermore to the national structure, religion or economic activities and the occupation of the city's inhabitants. The work also focuses on the possible impact of World War I. Then also how the town was influenced by the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic and how the national situation evolved. Work of Bedřich Václavek in historical-sociological perspective

Master's thesis describes the work of BedřichVáclavek in historical and sociological perspective. BedřichVáclavek was leading Marxist theorist, critic, esthetician, Germanist and folklorist. Its individual parts are treated at this thesis, like the evidence of his intellectual transformations over time. Emphasis is placed on a chronological line, which is accompanied by Václavek's work (criticism, theories, reflections, contributions in journals, collections and letter-writer). Thesis focuses primarily on summarizing on his work, where it comes to transitions from one artistic direction of a second, while takes into account the historical background reflecting the social situation on which Václavek responds. Theses tried to offer a comprehensive view of the versatility of Václavek's works, but also for his detailed biography, especially from birth and throughout the study (until 1922), which is the period when constructing patriotic thoughts and relationship to folklore. The Fate of Pankrác Prisoners in After-war Period- Pankrác Prison, May 1945-1946

The main topic of this thesis is the fate of people being held in the Pankrác prison in the period of approximately one year after the end of World War II. The base of the thesis are collected testimonies, information about the circumstances of the events at that time from both the present and available contemporary literature and periodicals, their analysis and comparisons as well as adding other relating data from archives and other sources. The introduction and the methodological part is followed by a historical discourse observing the events of the end of World War II in the European context, history of the Pankrác prison since the time of its establishment in 1889, and the Czech-German conflict in the period before the Munich Agreement had been signed and the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, until the transfer of the control over the prison by the Czech administration in May 1945. The individual topics introducing the conditions that prevailed in the Pankrác prison at that time are elaborated in the part devoted to the postwar period. The chapters devoted to the characteristics of prisoners and introduction of the collected testimonies introduce another part describing the circumstances of the detention of persons, their arrival to the Pankrác prison, conditions and...
