The Influence of Anatomical Structure of an Arm on the Results of Indirect Blood Pressure Measurement

Important differences in the results of auscultatory and oscillometry blood pressure measurement in active and sedentary population led us to the idea of the influence of tissue, which is the brachial artery compressed across.On an artificial model we investigated possible influence of morphological structure of an arm on the accuracy of blood pressure measurement performed with indirect techniques. Results of the measurements testified, that the thicker stripe of the insulating material between the cuff and the tubing is, the higher pressure is needed to stop the liquid dripping. In order to be able to perform this experiment, we made an artificial model of an arm, consisted of glass paper-weight, infusion set and insulating material. Measurements were performed by an aneroid tonometer.We performed the studies on two groups of subjects - subjects in the first group were randomly chosen sportsmen, that took part on the regular port check-up.The health state of the persons was not allowed to influence the results of blood pressure measurements. In the first group, there were 48 subjects. The second group was composed of 10 subjects with big arm muscles and of 10 subjects with small arm muscles. Authenticity of Czech literature in the 1990's

V devadesátých letech dvacátého století se na stránkách literárních časopisů začalo diskutovat o autenticitě v souvislosti s masivním vydáváním tzv. autentické literatury, tedy dopisů, memoárů a především deníků. Literární kritici se zajímali nejenom o konkrétní deníkové texty, ale také o obecné teoretické přístupy k autentické literatuře. Autenticita však není literární pojem, má své počátky ve filozofii, konkrétně ve filozofii existencionalismu. Zajímalo nás, jakým způsobem přejímá literární věda autenticitu z původního filozofického hlediska na rovinu poetickou. Hlavní osobností, která užívala kritérium autenticity pro hodnocení literárního díla, byl Jan Lopatka. V naší práci představíme zásadní myšlenky jeho kritického přístupu k textu, neboť svou metodologií rozpoutal vlnu polemik, které se rovněž odrazily v diskusi o autenticitě v 90. letech. Proti kritickému přístupu Jana Lopatky se ohradilo mnoho literárních kritiků a vědců. V příspěvcích do literárních časopisů diskutovali o významu autora pro autentické dílo, o možnostech recipienta, o pravdivém záznamu reality v textu a především o postavení soudobé literární kritiky. "Moje blues" by Josef Kainar: a critical edition

Název poslední Kainarovy sbírky (avšak ne tak docela forma jednotlivých čísel tohoto souboru) se hlásí k mimořádně vlivnému a životnému hudebnímu žámu. Blues vzniklo na přelomu devatenáctého a dvacátého století na jihu Spojených států z hudby černých otroků, zavlečených do Ameriky ze západního pobřeží Afriky. Jeho postupný rozvoj a prolínání s domácí tradicí daly vzniknout jazzu i rockové hudbě. Jako hudební forma přetrvává dodnes. Klasické, dřevní blues má ustálenou podobu. Jeho harmonické schéma vychází ze střídání ,základních akordů - tóniky, subdominanty a dominanty - v pevném schématu: čtyři takty tónika, dva takty subdominanta, dva takty tónika, dva takty dominanta, dva takty tónika - dvanáct taktů bluesové "dvanáctky" -, přičemž pro melodiku blues je "nejpříznačnější svérázná tzv. blues tonalita s charakteristickou oscilací mezi durovou a mollovou tonalitou" 1 7. Nejde nám zde o přesnou hudební terminologii, ale o zachycení pravidelného, až monotónního schématu: ,,( ... ) současně s dvanáctitaktovou periodicitou se ustálilo pevné schéma rýmovaných dvojverší ( ... ), jejichž sémantická stavba odpovídá africkému call and response [zvolání - odpověď] principu (a-a-b)"ls. Zdánlivá jednotvárnost ovšem jen podtrhovala hypnotickou účinnost, nakažlivou rytmičnost i emocionální působivost bluesových písní.

Character and characterisation in Czech novel in the fifties

My Diploma work, entitled Character and Characterization In The Czech Socialist Realism Novel In The 50th ofThe 20th Century analyses the prose ofthe darkest times ofthe czechoslovak totalitarian regime. I focused on a so called constructive novel (budovatelský román, dealing with contemporary problems of rebuilding the society) and stories from a recent history, which came about e.g. during the times ofWorld War II. Second chapter's subject is the socialist thinking about literature. There I focused on a character itself, which was one of the most important literary categories at that time. Character helped the readers to overgo aesthetic distance in the relation to the text and to authentify the worldmaking model of a fiction. Cognitive possibilities and didactic demands on a prose were the most important things for a conception of art in the czech fifties. The incongruence of a categorization and personalization (terms introduced by Ralf Schneider) in characterization and separateness of ideological scheme and personal individualization were the reasons why the constructive novels were so schematic. Sound poetry

The present work introduces the phenomenon of sound poetry on both the historical and theoretical levels. From the historical perspective, it is focused on the transitional phase of the development of experimental poetics, seen here as an emancipation of poetry based in its sound qualities from the traditional "paper literature". This process is traced with a view to major subgenres and individual poetics. One chapter is also dedictated to Czech auditive production. The theoretical section deals with selected issues of the given poetic domain and its relations to neighbouring areas. As a part of the work there is a 4 CD set enclosed, illustrating the development of both international and Czech sound poetry.

Changes in kinesiological analysis and diagnostical part of Computer Kinesiology as the Evidence-based medicine indicated therapy of active athletes with musculoskeletal system disorders

Manifestation of functional disorders of the movement system has several diagnostic denominations in terms of diagnosis, namely the fixation of new non-economic motor stereotypes due to the formation of muscle imbalances, changes in postural load, increased demands on spinal biomechanics and joint system, the presence of reflective changes and also the chaining phenomenon. Long-term functional deficiency disrupts the motion strategy and is a risk for structural failure. For active athletes, the need to harmonize the movement system is essential. It is a prerequisite for improved performance, easier regeneration and adaptation of body to increased physical strain. Taking into account the different individual physical predispositions, the unequal demands on the movement system in individual disciplines, the need for long-term compensation is obvious. A group of five athletes of various sport disciplines was diagnosed by the CK system methodology and for a period of two months practiced a regularly designed set of exercises. In all monitored, the input values of the total dysfunction decreased, the number of reflex changes decreased, and the spine dynamics improved. Skupina 42 and Chicago Renaissance - Kolář, Sandburg, Masters (1914-1948)

This text is concerned with the connections between the Chicago Renaissance movement and the Czech post-war Skupina 42 (Group 42). Not being a fixed programme, Chicago Rennaisance covers not only the work of its major representatives - Carl Sandburg, Edgar Lee Masters and Vachel Lindsay, but also the general cultural atmosphere around the time of the First World War in the American Middle West. Although there are considerable timespace differences, the poetics of the particular poets and Skupina 42 members (especially Jiří Kolář) have much in common. Primarily, it is the effort to define a newly developing city as well as an individual's role in a human community. The complexity of this community requires adequate forms of poetic expression, which is in both cases performed by the use of everyday speech and free verse, depicting aptly social, ethnic and individual variability. Moreover, the imperfection and at the same time beauty of the common speech offer a fitting parallel to the character of the city as a whole.

Kolář's mea culpa

Umělecké dílo je možné nahlédnout z několika perspektiva vždy se ukáže jako jiné a zároveň v jinakosti jako podobné. V této nevyjasněnosti - neklidu - vězí krása díla. A přesto každý interpret, sám za sebe i navzdory dílu samotnému, se musí pokusit najít onen kruciální bod, ze kterého bude dílo nahlíženo. Není důležité, dopracuje-li se k tomuto bodu až postupem čtení, až v samotném rozkrývání jednotlivých složek, nebo jestli díky němu do něj vstupuje, aby jej na konci popřel nebo potvrdil. Slouží mu jako kompas při zbloudění i jako ta část mapy, do níž ještě není zanesena krajina, ta bílá místa, která vábí interpreta k doplnění. V této práci se tímto bodem stane skutečná událost, chápaná ve vztahu k básnické řeči, k realitě, k básníku, jenž nahlíží sebe sama i druhého - ve vztahu ke světu, v němž básník žije, do něhož se projektuje, s kterým se vyrovnává, pro který píše, ale i ke světu jakožto unikátnosti básnické řeči, v níž skutečnost mizí. Nahlížení přes optiku skutečné události vyvrcholí v básni Skutečná událost ze sbírky Prométheova játra, jako v ní vrcholí i básnická tvorba Jiřího Koláře.

The use of bioimpedance analysis for kidney function evaluation

Objective: To calculate glomerular filtration (GF) through the use six available methods to estimate GF and measure impedance parameters phase angle () and fat free mass (FFM) by using multifrequency and monofrequency measurement. Select one method of estimating GF as a strict method of estimation GF for this study and by using linear regression relate with other method of estimating GF and impedance parameters measured () and FFM. Consider if () and FFM are significant parameters to improve methods of estimating GF given below (MDRD-A, MDRD-B, CLCG, CLcysC). (...) Conclusions: Impedance parameters () and FFM correlate with GF, decreasing GF cause decreasing of these impedance parameters. This study proved very close relationship between parameters FFMx and FFMc, obtained by using two different kinds of measuring (R2 - FFMx and FFMc = 0,843). Method of bioimpedance is ready to other validation and to develope bioimpedance scale to estimate renal function.

Sino-American Ideological Clash: Washington Consensus and Beijing Consensus

The objective of my master's thesis, "Sino-American Ideological Clash: Washington Consensus and Beijing Consensus" is to consider two models of economic development, the Washington Consensus and the Beijing consensus. In the first part, I analyze the discourse that evolves around these two concepts, and I also consolidate the definitions of these terms. Washington Consensus was a set of specific rules for macroeconomic policy of the state. As a result of the ending Cold War, the discrediting of alternative models of economic development and direct link of this model to the financial support from international financial institutions, the popularity of the Washington consensus in the 1990s soared. The democratization of the country was perceived as another unwritten rule. In the wake of the Asian financial crisis of 1997, as well as other crises in developing countries which actively engaged the World Bank and IMF, the term has been largely discredited. It was associated with concepts like 'shock therapy', 'neoliberalism' or 'market fundamentalism'. Meanwhile, the long-term economic growth of China drew the attention of developing countries.
