This work cal led The Credi t - Saving Institute in Hradec Králové (in years 1868-1914) discuss the oldest Czech national bank during the period of the end of Austro-Hungarian monarchy. This bank was a prototype of the national Czech bank directing its business operations to the region of Eastern Bohemia. In this paper I wanted to focus on the problems of bank's management and business a cti v i ti es. The aim of this work i s the analytical study of these key aspects of bank' s development. The Credit - Saving Institute in Hradec Králové was formed in provincial center of Eastern Bohemia, Hradec Králové, and wi th this town the bank kept cl ose connection. These close connections found expresions in the structure of the bank' s management, which majority was formed by industrialists from the surrounding of Hradec Králové, who a t the same time were mostly active members of the municipality.

Business and social activities of V.F. Červený and his sons in the context of family life and political-economic upswing of nationally conscious Czech society

Jako téma své disertační práce jsem si zvolil podnikatelské a společenské aktivity V. F. Červeného a jeho synů v kontextu jejich rodinného života a politickohospodářského rozmachu národně uvědomělé české společnosti. Tato práce si klade za primární cíle analyzovat podnikatelské aktivity Červených spojené s vedením rodinné firmy, podrobně objasnit příčiny jejich značných podnikatelských úspěchů i okolnosti, jež zapříčinily pozdější úpadek jejich firmy, zároveň podrobně analyzovat společenské aktivity Červených a vymezit jejich společenskou roli v době formování moderní české občanské společnosti. Na tyto hlavní badatelské záměry navazují dílčí cíle. V rovině podnikatelských aktivit jsem si dále vytkl za úkol zařadit a zhodnotit postavení firmy v kontextu českého hospodářství a průmyslu a provést srovnání i s předními zahraničními firmami působícími v tomto oboru. Zároveň jsem snažil zhodnotit manažerské schopnosti Červených, popřípadě je zařadit v rámci obecnější typologie podnikatelů do odpovídající kategorie. Dílčím cílem této práce se stalo i zmapování konstrukčních zlepšení dechových nástrojů provedených Červenými. Nekladl jsem si za úkol detailně analyzovat konstrukční přednosti jejich inovací, na druhé straně se domnívám, že k jejich podnikatelské činnosti neodmyslitelně patří i jejich inovační činnost...

The fiacre and cab licence at Prague 19. and 20. century.

This final thesis makes an attempt to give account of the development of fiacre and cab carriage transport in Prague. It concentrates on two main themes. Firstly, it deals with the development of this type of transport in the historical, cultural and industrial growth of the city, technical aspects and institutions. Secondly, the thesis attempts to capture the charm of old Prague dominated by this phenomenon of horse drawn public transport throughout the whole of the 19 century. Since horses were the main driving power in the city at that time, Prague absorbed them and made them part of its culture. Many sights and crafts remind of the specific horse culture in the city. There are not only various pieces of horse tack, former stables and riding halls, but also means of transport, such as horse-drawn wagons and cabs of today's tourist promenade transport. Part of the charm of the city was also linked with the typical men-about- town coachers or cabmen who have been part of the atmosphere of the city until today, and the author also tries to show their everyday life.
