Mental hygiene as a burnout prevention of counseling staff

The thesis deals with the issue of mental hygiene as a burnout prevention of counselling staff working in counselling for family, marriage and human relations. It is focused on psychologists and social workers. The first part deals with the issues related to the counselling and requirements for counselling staff, as well as the specifics and risks associated with the profession, and the clientele that comes to counselling. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the issues of burnout syndrome and mental hygiene related to the profession of counselling staff. The second part of the diploma thesis is processed in the form of empirical explorative research which aim was to map the issue of mental hygiene as a prevention of burnout syndrome among counselling staff, specifically psychologists and social workers working in the counselling for the family, marriage and human relations. It was found out that the counseling staff perceive as the most burdensome administrative and organizational components of their work and unmotivated or difficult clients. On the contrary they are most enriched with the diversity and variety of client stories, meeting with clients and feeling of their meaningfulness. Coping strategies and mental hygiene in the context of the burnout syndrome of accompanying staff

This thesis is based on the diploma thesis (Šípová, 2015), and the issues covered in the thesis further develop the issues of the diploma thesis. It covers different psychological stress coping strategies, mental hygiene in the context of the burnout syndrome that can be observed at staff working in organizations that support and accompany foster care families. In the first part the thesis analyzes the problem of guidance in the context of the helping professions, the requirements issued on the staff accompanying foster care families, as well as the specifics and risks associated with this profession and its clientele, the foster families. Furthermore it covers the issues of occupational stress, stress and burnout syndrome, coping strategies and mental hygiene all related to the profession of staff accompanying foster families. The second part of the thesis is elaborated in the form of empirical research investigation, whose aim was to explore the issue of coping strategies and mental hygiene as a possible prevention of burnout syndrome in the staff accompanying foster care families working organizations that accompany foster families. Intercultural aspects of social support

The first part of the thesis is a theoretical compilation of surveillance assembled from professional sources, resources and research. In the theoretical part of the thesis deals with the issue of social support and its intercultural aspects. The focus is on the attitudes and prejudices, intercultural psychology, communication and barriers arising from it, as well as social support, its types, empathy and prosocial behavior. The second part of the thesis is the proposal of empirical research. It deals with the methodological process aimed at finding differences between access to social support and the provision and acceptance of Czechs and Slovaks.
