Špádová, Barbora ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Heczková, Libuše (referee)
This thesis deals with the motive of the city in the Daniela Hodrova trilogy (Tryznive mesto - The Doleful City) and in the Michal Ajvaz novel (Druhe mesto - The Other City). It focuses on differences and details in the motive treatment, follows the topological line of the concrete sujets, notices the role of the centre, the periphery, the border and the trace in both books. Author of the thesis inspects the notion of 'the inner city' - not only the 'inner place' within the motive of the city, but also the 'house vs. home' opposition. Large space is given to the poetic of city myths in both authors.

Lošťák, Dalibor ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Storchová, Barbara (referee)
This paper presents the methodology and theory needed for a narratologically and linguistically oriented comparation of chosen texts that belong to different declared genres, eventhough they do share a substancial amount of characteristics in the author's opinion. This methodological and linguistic apparatus is then used for a brief pilot study of the specific texts with a special regard to correspondence and difference in the language and narration of these texts. The key metodological instrument presented in this paper is the contruction of the continuum defined by the abstract opposites of "instrumental" and "literary" language and then relating of this continuum to the theory of information. The paper presents narratological approach oriented towards the relation of science, narration and society as a theoretical basis for the study of character of narration in the chosen texts. The outcome of the pilot comparation, based on this theoretical and methodological apparatus, is in the grasping of language and narration in the compared texts with regard to the idea of ideal text and its characteristics. Keywords: sociology, novel, language, narration

This was the result of director revelation this meaningful literary work made by Josef Škvorecký Miss Silver Past (1963-1967). We will describe real circumstances of their origin. Keeping in mind that both works appeared in the 60's of the last century, it is necessary to remind political atmosphere and remember events in previous Czechoslovakia.
The Comparison of Literary and Film Narrative (Ladislav Fuks: Spalovač mrtvol)
Kapitolová, Zuzana ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Mravcová, Marie (referee)
The topic of this bachelor thesis was an analysis of the literary text and its film adapta-tion and subsequent comparison of the two. Material for this particular comparison was the novella The Cremator by Ladislav Fuks and the film version of the same name directed by Ju-raj Herz. The analysis of Fuks' book was done according to Seymour Chatman's Story and Discourse. During the analysis of film adaptation, we tried to a divide the movie into the sec-tions similar to those we used in our novella's study, and then we described those sections. In the final chapter we outlined some problems that might occur during the process of adapting of the literary text and finally we compared the novella and the film. As a result of the comparison of the novella and its film adaptation we concluded that Herz's movie is one of the best adaptations and one of the best Czech films ever made.
"Major Zeman": Comparative analysis of verbal narratives and TV serial presentations
Krausová, Martina ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Činátlová, Blanka (referee)
The diploma thesis "Major Zeman": Comparative analysis of verbal narratives and TV serial presentations deals with two narrative media that depict the Zeman's story: a literary narrative by Jiří Procházka and its realization as TV series. Factors affecting the resulting form of both versions were identified by means of a gradual analysis of each of the versions. These factors were external interventions made by a management of a TV company and by its professional advisors as well as a mutual rivality of producers of the series. A focus to a TV audience and a literary ambition of Procházka, who attempted to step over the boundaries of a crimi genre, played their roles as well. These all resulted in two differently conceived fiction worlds. The narrative world, built on a myth-building principle, appears to be coherent, joined by an unifying ideological line. On the contrary, the TV series world appears to be scattered.
Fragments of a Love Story (in Photographs)
Chybová, Barbora ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Hrdlička, Josef (referee)
1 Abstract The diploma thesis Fragments of a Love Story (in Photographs) focuses on visuality of a lover's speech; it follows various possible connections between the media of photography and text. In comparison with the disintegrating lover's discourse, as developed by Roland Barthes in A Lover's Discourse: Fragments, and in a dialogue with it, the thesis highlights love story as a traditional way of expressing a love theme. The elaboration of the topic is based on the interpretation of works written by Vasily Rozanov (Opavshie list'ya), Jakub Deml (Listy Jakuba Demla Otokaru Březinovi), Ludvík Vaculík (Český snář), Bohumil Hrabal (Vita nuova) and others. An appendix that includes the discussed photographs accompanies the thesis.
Memory lanscapes in centraleuropean literature - Galicia and Bukovina
Iljašenko, Marie ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
MA thesis Memory landscapes in centraleuropean literature - Galicia and Bukovina is dedicated to an analysis of the links between landscape, text, memory and cultural identity. Using cultural-semiotic and comparative approaches, it delimits and examines the mnemonic constructs that appear in German written, Polish and Ukrainian literature related to the regions. Two, mostly theoretical chapters are dedicated to the chosen approaches. The order of examined texts follows the development of mnemonic constructs, a process that takes place in all the literatures. The constructs were developed after Galicia and Bukovina ceased to be a part of one of the states. The thesis' structure is topical, each chapter includes an account of German written, Polish and Ukrainian literature. The first chapter focuses on the imaginary topography, geography and symbolic landscapes of Galicia and Bukovina. The second chapter examines the cultural identity that is anchored in the mnemonic constructs. The third chapter concentrates on various myths, constructs and literary phenomena that contributed to the image of Galicia and Bukovina as memory landscapes.
