Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Medicinal Substances from Stinging Nettle
Sovová, Helena ; Opletal, L. ; Sajfrtová, Marie ; Bártlová, Milena
Carotenoids and chlorophylls from leaves and beta-sitosterol, scopoletin and homovanillyl alcohol from roots of stinging nettle were extracted with near-critical carbon dioxide modified with ethanol. The effect of operating conditions on extraction rate was evaluated for each compound. Chlorophyll degradation that occured in the extractor was suppressed by antioxidant added to the solvent.
Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Medicinal Substances from Plants
Sovová, Helena ; Opletal, L. ; Sajfrtová, Marie ; Bártlová, Milena
Lignans from leaves and caulomas of Schizandra chinensis, carotenids and chlorophylls from stinging nettle leaves, beta-sitosterol, scopoletin and homovanillyl alcohol from stinging nettle roots and terpenic lactones from Ginkgo biloba were extracted with supercritical carbon dioxide. Extraction rate depends for low-polar componets on the overall rate of extraction and for polar components on the concentration of entrainer in the solvent.
Wavy Film Flow of Non-Newtonian Liquids. Theory and Experiment
Tihon, Jaroslav ; Wein, Ondřej
The experimental study of non-Newtonian film flows along an inclined plate is presented. The results obtained demonstrate the effects of fluid elasticity and shear thinning on the flow stability and the wave characteristics. Elasticity driven instabilities observable at low inclination angles and low flow rates is discussed.
Effect of Apparent Wall Slip on Normal-Stress Viscometric Data
Wein, Ondřej
In the present lecture, we attempt for the first time to analyze the AWS effect on normal-stress data for the parallel-plates rotational instrument, using 2D numerical simulations. The related problem for the viscosity data is recalled from the previous reports. For the narrow-gap configurations, h/R <<1, the simple formulas of the one-gradient approximation give an aceptable agreement of the predicted torque M axial thrust F with the correct 2D theory and, hence, they seem to be acceptable in interpreting the primary rheometical data.
Microwave Activation of Heterogeneous Catalytic Reactions
Hájek, Milan ; Steinfeld, Jakub
The aim of this work is find the different behaviour of heterogeneous catalytic reaction after common conditions (heating of reaction mixture on oil bath) and after microwave conditions (heating of reaction mixture in microwave reactor). The best of them is aluminium chloride and acid zirconium(IV) hydroxide.
