The Perpetrators and the Forms of Sexual Aggression at the Czech Republic's Population
Gerlová, Erika ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee) ; Netík, Karel (referee)
The focus of this dissertation paper is the theme of sexual aggression. Aim of the research: The main aim of the research was detection of prevalence of sexually aggressive men and women in the Czech population, finding the leading forms of sexually aggressive behaviour, describing the differences between sexually aggressive persons and the nonagressive ones and showing the trends of sexually aggressive behaviour in the Czech Republic. Method: The research was based on quantitative methodology. It was part of a longitudinal research of sexual behaviour and attitudes in the Czech population from the years 1993, 1998 and 2003 and the topic of sexual aggression is only one of the areas covered by it. Our data were obtained in November and December 2003, when the participants answered an anonymous questionnaire with questions about their sexual behaviour. For statistical analyses the Statistical package for social sciences was used and the differences between the two samples were calculated by T test for two independent samples (for quantitative data) and Chí square test (for qualititative data). Sample: The sample consisted of 1000 men and 1000 women and was fully representative in terms of sex, age, obtained education, economical activity, region and the size of place of residence. Results: 7,7% of Czech men...
Validity of primary motor area localization with fMRI versus electric cortical stimulation: A comparative study.
Bartoš, Robert ; Petrovický, Pavel (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee) ; Tintěra, Jaroslav (referee)
During my postgraduate studies, I have been working on the problems of surgery on eloquently located intrinsic brain tumors in a wider context. Towards the end of my research work, the technically challenging insular glioma surgery became the main topic. ln general, the radicality of the resection is an acceptable favourable prognostic factor even in low grade gliomas. However, for a safe resection to be possible, a mere knowledge of anatomy is not sufficient. In cases, where a suspicion of an eloquent tumor location arises, careful consideration should be made regarding the the position and the relationship of the functional cortex to the tumor. This consideration can be aided by the use of functional magnetic resonance results. ln our study, functional magnetic resonance was reliable in 83% of patients operated on a tumor in the central motor area (15/18). The distances between the fMRI activated cluster and the ECS targets were within the range of 5mm (error inherent for target-Iocalizing accuracy of neuronavigation system) in 20/26 of our measurements. The spread of the BOLD activation volume is significantly lower during more restrictive corrected thresholding P<0.05c. In all patients with this fMRI threshold, the concordance with the ECS result was absolute. If the volume of the gained corrected fMRI...
The use of the Rorschach method in psychological assessment of paraphilias
Soukupová, Tereza ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (referee)
This dissertation thesis addresses the use of Rorschach Inkblot Method in the psychological assessment of paraphilias. In the theoretical part of the thesis we summarize the findings about paraphilias, describe Exner's Comprehensive System for coding the Rorschach and present published research works with the Rorschach in the filed of sexual deviance. The empirical part contains the description of our reseach project. We looked for rorschach variables that would differ between pedophiles and rapists in the group of 78 men diagnosed with paraphilia. We have found statistically significant differences between the groups of pedophiles and rapists in several variables. These variables are in both groups related to the cluster Selfperception and Interpersonal perception, in the group of rapists also to the cluster Processing and in the group of pedophiles to the cluster Controls. We have also found statistically significant differences between normative data and our research sample almost in all selected variables.
Urinary incontinence and sexuality during pregnancy and after delivery
Záhumenský, Josef ; Zvěřina, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kužel, David (referee) ; Weiss, Petr (referee)
Results and conclusion. We found the statistically significant increase in the occurrence of urinary incontinence during pregnancy. We found no significant relation between prevalence of urinary incontinence during pregnancy and either BMI before pregnancy or weight gain during pregnancy. All females of age 36 and more suffered from urinary incontinence during the third trimester. There is a decrease in frequency of sexual intercourses, a decrease in female orgasm sensation and a decrease in satisfaction with the sexual life during pregnancy. Frequency of sexual dysfunctions increases: dyspareunia, insufficient lubrication and hypogastrium pain. Females with significant dyspareunia before pregnancy have higher risk of extensive injury to the vaginal wall during labour. 10% of women do not have full comfort of life due to birth injury six months after the labour. 24% of women start with sexual life less than six weeks after the first labour; 7% of women have no sexual intercourse six months after the delivery. 38% of females declare that the sexual life six months after the delivery is still not as highquality as prior to pregnancy. In the comparison of the way of labour (Caesarean section vs. vaginal delivery) we found no difference in frequency of sexual intercourses six months after the labour, in orgasm...
