Stress of endoplasmic reticulum and its role for the development of adipose tissue inflammation
Zemánková, Kateřina ; Rossmeislová, Lenka (advisor) ; Janovská, Petra (referee)
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a cellular organelle responsible for folding of proteins that are then transported to the various places in the cell or secreted. It is also crucial for the synthesis of triglycerides. Metabolic imbalance leads to ER stress and consequently triggers signaling pathway, which is called unfolded-protein response (UPR). The aim of this pathway is to alleviate ER stress, restore natural homeostasis and prevent death of cell. At the same time however, it activates stress kinases and other factors that may perturb insulin signaling and increase expression of proinflammatory cytokines. These signs are characteristic for human obesity, which is associated with reduced tissue's sensitivity to insulin and is considered as a disease with low level of inflammation. Recent studies have suggested that the source of proinflammatory cytokines in obesity are stressed adipocytes and macrophage infiltrated into adipose tissue. Indeed, it has been demonstrated that stress of endoplasmic reticulum is significantly increased in adipose tissue of obese individuals. Weight loss associated with reduction of adipose tissue mass decreases stress while lowers both, the production of proinflammatory cytokines and insulin resistence. This work aims to collect and discuss these new findings, which...
Study of links between biogenic VOC emissions and concentration of tropospheric ozone
Zemánková, Kateřina
Title of dissertation: Study of links between biogenic VOC emissions and concentration of tropospheric ozone Kateřina Zemánková, 2010 Dissertation directed by: doc. RNDr. Josef Brechler, CSc. Dept. of Meteorology and Environment Protection, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague Presented work focuses on influence of volatile organic compounds from biogenic sources on concentration of tropospheric ozone. Volatile organic compounds (VOC) play an important role in the tropospheric chemical system. Together with oxides of nitrogen they form two major components of reactions leading to low-level ozone formation. Volatile organic compounds are emitted into the atmosphere from an- thropogenic as well as from biogenic sources. In global, VOCs from natural sources are approximately ten times higher in magnitude than those of anthropogenic origin. Biogenic VOCs are emitted from various sources among which the forest ecosystems predominate. Group of VOCs of natural origin comprises wide range of chemical com- pounds. Those emitted in highest concentrations are isoprene and group of monoter- penes. Emissions of biogenic VOCs from the area of the Czech Republic have been es- timated based on the high resolution land cover data giving detailed information of sigle tree species...

Interior Design of a Café
Zemánková, Kateřina ; Kolesár, Zdeno (referee) ; Zdařil, Zdeněk (advisor)
The thesis deals with the reconstruction of the café in a historic building on Svoboda Square in Mohelnice. To the revitalized interior, dominated by brick vault was introduced a new and fresh design. The café has two basic spaces. In the first lighter room is located bar and a few tables with long benches and chairs. The back room features a private sitting area overlooking the atrium of the building. Simple shapes and natural materials create contrast with the historic vault. Use indirect lighting is achieved pleasant and intimate atmosphere. An essential element of the interior is a custom made chair that their morphology fit into the concept of the café.
